You could make a cool off road work truck. Meaning, someone breaks down, they need help. Then you can go out with options, like pull them out, help them get it running again, fix the drive shaft, fix the or replace their trans, fix their rear ends, swipe out broken radiators for them, you can have front and rear winches, a boom for minor truck repairs, you can pull a mini trailer to haul extra tools, a place for everyone to clean up inside a heated air conditioning unit for 4-6 people to chill as work is being done on their vehicle(s), they can work with you or alone on these repairs, stress level goes way down if the family stuck sees you hav food, water, TV, changing area, have a welder, generator, solar power, change or repair flats, tell them some of these charges are covered by their insurance as roadside assistance, have a mini car trailer for front end tow’s like camper vans do for their car, only you can offer this service for them since you are already there. Speaking of already being there, if other people see your service of helping, that will automatically bring you business. Honey, remember that project you promised you would do for me ? Well dear look, the man is already here working on Mr. Johnson’s issues, go over there and ask him if he could help us ? 💥 Boom, another sale just fell in your lap with no advertising !! Heck you are already there fixing/repairing this job, possibilities are endless once there 👍🏻 Or, it could be a simple run of you go out there, hook them up, pull it, bill them and leave, in & out in 15 minutes with $100-200 plus in your pocket 😉 This is just for starters !! Have a good week Sir….

That truck is awesome my friends uncle had A Fargo l600 dump truck that was so cool looking I always wanted it but I was young at the time and there was no way my Parents would allow a truck to sit in the driveway till I was old enough to start working on it but I love the A100 pickup's and vans and those are just as cool

What about building it into a crew cab and then putting a regular bed behind it made to match the rest of the body of the truck I think that would look really cool

2/3 lengthwise, passenger side overlander. driver side have a recess for a 1969 enduro, with a rising platform. Welding cart built in for remote jobs. Gotta have a tiny sandblasting setup for nostalgia. Who knows what you’d do with a tiny sandblaster but c’mon. At least have a sandblasted finish on the bumpers, mirrors, and maybe door handles though that could get annoying. You could sandblast the bathroom window for privacy. Tool drawers along floor of camper section on passenger side, built in grille and prep station beside motorcycle storage on driver side. There; the ultimate Barrie-Flea-Market-Mobile.

I’ve been looking at this truck almost every day for at least a decade, can you tell? Lol
@oddballstony2 жыл бұрын
Lol, I do like the drop down Bike rack idea along the side(s) I could market the sandblast idea as a wasteland vibe and the people will keep coming back as the rust grows. The ultimate Swap meet vehicle would have a mobile plasma table on the back with a genny and air compressor -Brackets while you wait :)

What about using a military surplus 6x6 chassis? That gets you 6 wheel drive and then you could also do the crane. Heck, if you buy the right one I think some already have cranes.

Sweet! Easy to get a old school Duce up here, but anything newish would have air brakes and be expensive

I would use a P30 camper chassis, but I live in CT, so I get your point about the 4x4 and diesel. You hours make it a hook truck on that chassis and build multiple beds, one dumpster bed for hauling material, one flatbed, one ramp body, ext

Hmmm, I dig that idea -just swap out the backs depending on what I'm doing....

You could use a divorced transfer case with the Eaton transmission to keep it 4x4. Find a kodiak chassis and put it on that
@oddballstony2 жыл бұрын
the other issue with the Eaton is that there is no overdrive -final drive is 1:1
@xozindustries74512 жыл бұрын
@@oddballstony ah. I didn’t know that, they make five speed eatons and different rear end ratios to get your final drive correct
@oddballstony2 жыл бұрын
Also the kodiak might be an option, seems like they are pretty common

D3500 4X4 Swap!!!
@adman63802 жыл бұрын
Go with a 4x4 chassis swap, not sure if it’s feasible to do a divorced transfer case then you could run that other 2wd trans and engine combo, a hydraulic tilt flat bed maybe with removeable sides or even different beds/ boxes that you could fork, crane, winch on or off as the need/mood arose
@oddballstony2 жыл бұрын
if I can find a long wheel base 3500, I could fit a divorced case for sure -let me pull some numbers

BJ and the bear was the show you were referring to. That is going to be a great project truck but if the price of fuel keeps going up you will have to put a gasifier wood burning system on it so you can afford to drive it 😉 I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

The shift linkage on thoes trucks is pretty crappy. I have been fighting with my L600 for a while now and bushings/ parts are nonexistent. exploring a push/pull cable type setup. As far as the 4WD seup, why not use that 12v& Eaton with a divorced transfer case.

The drag with this eaton trans is that it doesn’t have a overdrive gear, final drive is 1:1
