There’s clearly a story behind this video and it should be shared. It’s not just them singing a song. This is Karinya Chen. A 15 year old girl who had battled terminal bone cancer for 5 years. She was at “Hospice Austin” and had tickets to go see a Florence and the Machine concert. She couldn’t due to health concerns. But the hospice reached out to Florence and was able to explain the situation and Florence came to sing just to her. With that being said this day was clearly something very special and since unfortunately Kenya has passed away. These acts of kindness are what makes this world so nice to be in and makes us realize how precious not only life is but how important something as simple as music can be to us in times of need.

Then along comes this incredible woman laying in bed who would give anything to have my health and be able to get up and go to ANY job, however bad it might be. I can't imagine what this poor girl has been through. Yet just having someone she likes come in and sing a song for her is enough to forget the world, lay back, and enjoy the music and the moment. Kind of puts things in perspective. My little problems are so stupid. I have good health, good family, financial security, and many more years to give. Thank-you, Ms. Chen, for helping this man to appreciate the things I have in life. I hope and believe you are in a place where you have nothing but good things.

Music is a universal language that transcends culture, race, religion and breaks the barriers between us. It is something we all can feel and understand and connect to. Through it we find a common ground where we can be united in hope, love and harmony with one another. This intimate performance might just be the very best example of that.
@RainyRunningRiver5 жыл бұрын
Florace and the machine are banned in a few Islamic countries for being 'unislamic'. Same with Beyonce, and Cher to name a few. Music isnt some cure to hate as we put it on a pedestal. Its just sound waves we relate to real world feelings and emotions. Sorry
@rogermoreno11525 жыл бұрын
That says something terrible about man’s religious beliefs though, not the power and transcendence of music. Anything that has the power to bring people together will always be seen as a threat by institutions, it always has been that way, and likely always will. And technically yes you are right, but its only sound waves if you’ve never been moved and stirred inside by good music. To me that proves it’s much more than just that.

Damn. This touched me.. I used to go play for the folks in hospice.. it was a beautiful and heavy experience.. some don’t have family to visit, some had dementia, some cancer.. but you could always see the suffering eased just a little whenever I played them the songs they loved. Dammit.. I’m crying. Need to start doing that again. If you have a musical gift, this is one of the most sacred ways to use it. Please do it if you can ♥️🙏

I don't know how how she did it. I would be breaking down so hard. This is such a beautiful moment and so impactful for both of them. Stoics cry, too. It might even mean more when we do because those tears are held and only released for the things which touch our souls. I cried, as well. Always do w/ this video - the emotion in that room bridges time and space. Here we are 7 years later and yet transported in time to join all the love in that room with our tears mixed in.
