I think you’ll find that the ‘fashionable lady of Kyoto’ is an Oiran one of the very high class courtesans of Japan’s ‘Floating World’ often Geisha are mistaken for these women. You can tell by the extremely elaborate head dress and the obi tied in the front (basically so that the women could keep getting dressed and undressed with the minimum of fuss). 👍🏼
