I just saw your new video about doors for a dome and was glad to see new content being published. Unfortunately, because it was marked for kids, it didnt allow for comments there, or for me to save it in my saved videos for domes. I hope to see more of your content. Particularly if there is more domes from bamboo. We need an expansion of sustainable and economical building materials. Like this. I loved your orginal bamboo video. Thanks for great content.

Years before you had done an excellent job with building and donating for homeless people and today thousands die each die with homeless people becoming the most vulnarable chain in times od covid19 pandemic.Any soul from City of San Jose watching that in 2020?anyone from city council?

Thanks. We are glad to work with anyone that can make their own struts and possibly hubs. For them, the design and all technical assistance is free. We don't have a lot of money ourselves, so if we donate anything, we have to cover the cost of our materials. But our labor is free. Thanks for watching and have a great day. John Hurt

I would love to see one of your domes made into a treehouse. I wonder, if it was made into a full sphere and suspended from above, how much weight could it support? You could put a level floor across the bottom.

I'm laughing so hard right now I had to stop the video... It looks like a dang 80's sitcom intro... Ok, serious face on, back to watch the video... EDIT: Cool video, but now I'm laughing at the guy opening up the Dutch door at the end. Anyway, cool thing you guys did there. If everyone would try to do something nice for another person once in a while or reevaluate their thoughts about someone they don't get along with and see if they have it in themselves to forgive and try again, people wouldn't be so divided.

Thank you for your kind words about helping the homeless. The person that made the video also donated the hubs to this homeless man, so with that in mind, the video he made is "beautiful" even with the 80's music and other things. Our beauty is not how we look, but what is inside of us. And so what is inside the video is better than the coverings of the video itself. Thanks again for your nice words, and for watching the video. John Hurt

The government doesn't want any options for homeless people. They tear this stuff down. This is not a solution.

Can you make a dome that is quick and easy to set up and take down, maybe with cotter pins, for back packers?
@ZipTieDomes3 жыл бұрын
I have been looking for a good solution, but the zip ties seem to be the best option. There are reusable zip ties, but they are more expensive.

It has been a year since the Zip Tie Dome has put up any videos, that I am aware of? I thought there was going to be an experiment with coverings, such as cement latex mixtures, etc? Is everyone well, are you still in business? What's happening?

Here is some information on building a concrete dome: www.ziptiedomes.com/customers/lenabach.htm Since Covid hit last March, we have been flooded with orders and I have not had time to tie my shoes, much less make any new videos. I did make enough to buy all of my concrete spraying equipment, but no time to use it. Usually our business slows down in January and Feb, but this year, we are still busy. If I get a break we will publish more. Thanks for checking up on us, I appreciate your comments from days past. John Hurt

I was wondering that too.As far as concrete cover,im a specialist and inventor . I think adding a few layers of cloth with concrete sprayed inbetween( cheap plastic bag first). Also add a little waterglass to the concrete and then as the last layer seal it with waterglass. Do not use wood or remove the wood after the concrete has been set.Wood swells and could crack the concrete. A zip tie ,,scaffolding,, from wood to cast concrete domes would be a great idea,where you cast a dome then remove the wood and zipties to use them again and again making otther domes. Certain zipties can be unlocked not cut so they can be reused too.

I have a question and an idea i want to share. Are you familiar with the PPR pipes we use in europe? Dirt cheap with 240 years warantee( indoor use thogh) made from polypropilene. Here we literally weld these pipes with a special heat iron. I am thinking that cheap conectors like hubs could be made quite easy in one piece,then the dome to be welded basically in one piece with no bulky hubs .It would make for a verry robust structure altough fixed. Idea is different but inspired from the Ziptiedomes.
@ZipTieDomes3 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea! Perhaps you can build one and make a KZbin video. Thanks for the information. John Hurt

Zip Tie Homes I’m not sure I’d you’ll get this comment/question but I thought I’d as anyway... If I made small holes with a drill in the pipes around the entire structure spaces about a foot apart just inside the dome would that cause the structure to fail? Or possibly fail? Please let me know thanks!
@ZipTieDomes4 жыл бұрын
No, that will work fine, as long as the struts stay stiff. If you drill with a 3/8" bit or less, it should work. John Hurt

Everything we need springs forth from the earth FOR FREE! For the effort of harvesting it. But evil has made it, so that we MUST have PERMISSION to do the most basic of our GOD GIVEN RIGHTS! It is ILLEGAL to BUILD A SHELTER! To COLLECT RAIN WATER! To GROW A GARDEN! They are not CONCERNED WITH PEOPLE! They WANT us DUMB AND DESPERATE! Only then, will we put up with all the evil things they do to us! What a BRILLIANT CREATION! I have been considering HOW to build a dome for some years now! AND HERE IS THE ANSWER! THANK YOU!!!! My autistic grandson THANKS YOU AS WELL!
