Again, H.P. Lovecraft was a man ahead of his time, showing that a great many things are truly universal.

Indeed, William, he saw visions more than 80 years ahead of depressed drug-addicted artists :D

Sarnath sounds like one heck of a vacation spot but I probably don't want to live there. Loving the narration and the mystical ambience! Why can't history classes be this dramatic?

Haha...we might have to suffer the company of green, bulging-eyed, flabby-lipped Ibrians :D :D Ah Lovecraft's artistic racism! >.

"The Shadow Over Innsmouth" is my all-time favorite Lovecraft work. When I heard about how the people of Ib had flabby, pouting lips; curious ears; paw-like hands; greenish skin; and bulging eyes and didn't speak human language, I thought of the Deep Ones.
@mj912125 жыл бұрын
@@Disciple_of_Cthulhu The beings of Ib arn't unable to speak human language, they're "without voice". This means they communicate non-verbally. Deep ones, on the other hand, can speak most human languages, albeit with a guttural accent. They also have a language of their own, and don't build cities on land. The Deep Ones prefer to spend the vast majority of their time in the ocean, while the Ibians spent a lot of time on land, though they did spend time in the lake just about every day. On top of this, the Ibians only ever spent time in fresh water, while the Deep Ones live in salt water. It's widely agreed by the members of the H.P. Lovecraft historical society that the Ibians and the Deep Ones are completely separate species. The description of Ibians suggests that they may be related to salamanders in some fashion, which means their method of reproduction would be vastly different then the method employed by the deep ones. The two species also have different religions, the Ibians worship Bolkrug the great water lizard, while the Deep Ones worship Dagon and treat Cthulhu as their high priest. Finally, the Ibians are described as being "soft as jelly", where as the deep ones are almost freakishly durable. You can kill them, but you'd need armor piercing rounds and high calibur explosives to get the job done. In H.P. Lovecraft's writings, the only time the U.S. military fought with the Deep Ones, they had to resort to trapping them in buildings and then subsequently blowing them up with dynamite, lots and lots of dynamite.
