wow! this was brilliantly executed! surprised I never came across your channel before or discovered it, as I'm a horror narrator as well and I try to keep up to date on all of my "colleagues," I love your narration style, and the fluidity of the reading got me so engrossed. I think I'll have to shout you out for your unique channel!

Phantom, welcome to the channel! Ack I am trying to get the channel out there as best I can as a trained voice actor :) It's the toughest thing I've ever done! Unite horror narrators! I'll check out your work bud...the KZbin community never fails to surprise me. If you'd like to collab, that'd be grand. I'm just putting the finishing touches on a collab going live in March, and after that my collab slot is open-ended.

THANK YOU very much, Ned. I indeed *love* Lovecraft (no pun intended), and my respect for his work grows daily. I've a new reading of Fungi from Yuggoth planned along with miscellany stories, so stay tuned!

Serves him right for not being satisfied with paradise. Good story.

Well said: dissatisfaction has a deceitful end! For an early work of Lovecraft's, it doesn't have that annoying Poe-imitation as much, rings a little more of Lord Dunsany with echos of new ideas to feature later on.

Bro I found your channel a few weeks back now and have been binge listening since. I love the tales from the crypt keeper / twilight zone/ old radio show vibe you have is amazing and really brings me back to my childhood, telling ghost stories and being intrigued by fear. Great job you have gotten a sub from me because of your talent.

G.M. Danielson, your channel is as thalarion, your productions it's spires. And you, eidolon lathi of KZbin, lol! Nobody can touch your Lovecraft! I treasure all of your works. Now when I read Lovecraft I do so in your voice! Bravo sir! Keep on gifting your subscribers as if you are Lovecraft himself from beyond, utilizing the medium. I enjoy everything on your channel though! Excellence, nothing less. I look eagerly for notifications! 👍

I prefer Lovecraft's horror/sci-fi to his dream cycle.... but this was you doing the reading, so I had to hear it! Keep it up!
@TheTalemaster7 жыл бұрын
Interesting you mention that, Scott. I always used to prefer Lovecraft's moster mythos to the dream cycle stuff, until I read a few of the stories, esp. Fungi from Yuggoth. It was so good I had to come back for more. I am getting back to Lovecraft now after a hiatus, redoing some old videos before I knew what the heck industry standard audio was :D, and some new stories :)

Hello Erika! Welcome to the channel! I'm that guy off the beaten path: trained voice actor, branching out from my job as podcast host and writer to narrate horror...and everything else ;) I have increased the creepypasta narrations in the last 4 months, and have several growing playlists of these...but I love touching back on Lovecraft and Poe, reimagining their classic horror in new ways. I just love challenging myself, and am glad to share it with everyone. I just want ol' Lovecraft to be proud :)

dude I was pleasantly surprised by his narration! not that I thought it would be bad but this i s the first time coming across his channel and as someone who does his own stories and narrates them as well, it makes me feel inspired to do this type of reading as well. good job once again!
@TheTalemaster7 жыл бұрын
I used to revile Lovecraft, haha, I think because I'd never given the deep literary fiction a chance. Oddly, I'm a writer, so one would think that I would give all writing a chance, but in horror I preferred the creepypasta. Then I heard Otis Jiry's reading of Pickman's Model. Oh my god! I knew I had to try my hand at Lovecraft, and over the years, I've learned how to read him for me. He's a difficult writer to interpret sonically, and I had to experiment a lot with inflection and tone to find the voice for his stories, at least on my channel. On the page, his writing looks one way, but with the right interpretation I began to find him fun.

Thanks, stagsy! Was experimenting with a new feature in GIMP, the motion blur which I only used to use to create tyre spin blur effect for a race simulator a few years ago. New style for a font, so I thought I'd try :) OMG and eerie lighthouses...I've never seen too many stories about those! I might have to write one!

The entire saga unfurled like a fever dream, which is what I think the protagonist was experiencing, leading to the lighthouse light being extinguished and the ship subsequently crashing on the rocks. Hail HP!

Thank you, Loretta :) However, I contend the "pay off" sentiment...it might soon begin to pay real money, but for now, its a pittance in terms of any wages. The channel is climbing nicely, and hopefully over the coming months it will begin to pay me what such work is actually worth in the industry.

GM, I love your readings of Lovecraft, you have a unique way of capturing my attention. A couple others have tried to read Lovecraft to me but I became confused and then bored. Lovecraft is fascinating but not at all easy to read.

Confused and bored...that's how most feel about Lovecraft until the right person comes along! My dream is to become a Lovecraft authority! Oddly, he is fairly easy to read once you are familiar with his works and read on your own. I find a great many people disrupt my love of Lovecraft with their lacking narrations.

Holy shit. This narration was amazing. I have loved this story for years and you made it seem fresh and mysteriously wonderful in an all new way with your haunting narration. I don't know if you do requests or even care to take them into consideration but if you do I would like to suggest "Poltarnees, Beholder of Ocean" by Lord Dunsany. It is one of my favorite stories of all time and it needs your narration kind sir. I believe it was also Lovecraft's favorite Dunsany tale. Here's the story online: www.sacred-texts.com/neu/dun/adta/adta03.htm Anyway, I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon your channel.

Hi, Aeternus! Your experience listening is why I read: reimagine the old tales a new way :) I've not read Lord Dunsany yet, but I take all suggestions! Sometimes it feels like I can never get to them I'm so busy, and I will try as hard as I can, thank you!
@j.t.88487 жыл бұрын
I've always thought "The White Ship" was the best Dunsany tale Dunsany never wrote. If you liked this tale you would be enchanted with his stuff I'm sure. Thanks for the consideration. Just keep reading whatever you feel like and have time for, as long as it's fantastical, strange, and macabre! :)

@TheTalemaster6 жыл бұрын
Well, if all we read was "horror," things would really be boring. I think it helps to bring in other things like this, "fringe" horror fiction so-to-speak, or fiction not so horrific, to maintain a wider flavor for the viewers.
