With recent news stories about big red buttons and a blockbuster movie (The Post) about the Pentagon Papers, Daniel Ellsberg's story is very timely. He's the legendary whistle-blower who revealed the Pentagon Papers, and his book is an eyewitness exposé of the dangers of America's Top Secret, seventy-year-long nuclear policy that continues to this day.
Framed as a memoir--a chronicle of madness in which Ellsberg acknowledges participating--this gripping tale reads like a thriller and offers feasible steps we can take to dismantle the existing "doomsday machine" and avoid nuclear catastrophe. The Doomsday Machine is thus a real-life Dr. Strangelove story and an ultimately hopeful--and powerfully important--book about not just our country, but the future of the world.

Daniel Ellsberg is the best kind of hero. He saves lives, my life and tens of thousands perhaps hundred of thousands of lives. I probably would have died in Vietnam if it were not for this man. It is my fervent hope he shall go on to save hundreds of millions of lives by so bravely speaking out on these threats to humanity heeded his words! !

I finished up an hour long interview with Daniel Ellsberg 2 hours ago. The interview was going to be added to my school documentary project about the Pentagon Papers but by now I had already shared it with my class. It was an unforgettable experience listening to what he had to say and learning new things. He gave me a new perspective on the world.

Mr. Ellsberg. You were my hero then, and still are to this day. I am 70. I have a Vietnamese wife that I have been trying to get immigrated to here. I was part of the antiwar folks that forced Nixon's minions to circle the wagons around the Whitehouse with the cities buses during the Nov.4th and 5th moratorium demonstrations. The tear and mustard gas deployed around Dupont Circle at that time created clouds. The winds even sent gases back to the Whitehouse. At 70 yrs old. I'd do it again.Thank you for being you.

That must have been a hellish time for Ellsberg. A hero. I am a whistle blower and cannot get anyone to listen to what I say,, since it involves, senators, government officials, police and judges. No one wants to take it on, and even the AG sent my complaint back to the current city I filed complaint and told them to investigate their own corrupt police department in a city of 7 thousand or so. We have no Internal Investigations department, and our former administrator had several felonies on his history, so how did he get hired? Looks to be deep and connected. The head of the State Police said they do not investigate corrupt cops or police departments. Told me to see the prosecuting attorney in my area??? They have a criminal charge for my texting neighbor to stop raping his dogs. He can block my texts or deny and say stop but it is a set up to get me back in to the court to try to discredit me again, get a eval by their favored psychologist who has others witnesses in psych units. Hae warrant for my arrest cause I did not show up for first hearing when I was never served. One six day cert mail at address I do not get mail. Set up again. Did this before and had no charge agaisnt me but attorneys didn;t tell me. Exparte orders. Changing recordings of hearings. reading over part judge admitted to signing ex parte order. The DA, judge and my attorney read a script over an actual court recording, Lock the door of the court when my hearing and make every one leave!!! All related to theft, and racketeering. They have put people, witnesses, in psych units having them labeled as mentally ill, called kidnapping. Police ignored 60 thefts in seven months with witnesses and fingerprints, had closed meeting the victims demanded to meet with administration and info kept from public, and local paper will not disclose email handed out at the closed meeting in council chambers, quoting people but states it was not recorded. Right. They have tried to kill me cutting the tow bar on the carrier holding my car, and grace of God I took an unplanned exit at last second possible when carrier broke through and car flying to and fro. Would have been killed on highway and anyone near me at grave risk. Need an investigator or journalist as it is a story that would get recognition if you had enough security with you.

The Illuminati finished with me on 16th Jan 2015 but threw me to my "enemies" whom I hadn't thought about for years, they had been "biding their time" but now the Illuminati see the folly of their actions, because these "enemies" of mine carry with them all the info against the Luminies that I won't advertise, they are doing it for me, all the while they don't understand why or how because they're too stupid. It is sad what is happening to America in such a short space of time, since the last Presidential election. We have lost respect Worldwide, our Congress representatives are showing us who they really represent and we see money becoming the most important issue in being able to run for President instead of honesty and integrity. When even Bloomberg is spending over 400 million a shot...you have to be crazy or incredibly stupid to not see that our elections are bought not decided by voting. @utvara1
@utvara1 4 жыл бұрын
@@Lord_Volkner that was never tested by west, Israelis made a small test and scrapped it due to 10x less radiation then thought by western theorists reading critically through (antiwar and antinuclear) nuclear literature you tend to find very strong editorializing about the negative impacts that are almost universally worst case scenarios and roundups. You tend to find scientists round up every number they can to exaggerate the percieved blowback and collateral damage so as to discourage nuclear war. In reality, USA and Russia already have and have used nuclear level strenght bombs that use conventional explosives and nothing even approaching the collateral damage happened. For example the most casualty inducing thing the "fire damage" cited in literally 100% of sources is taken from rounded up (incorrect) numbers of 1945 bombings of tightly packed paper walls Japanese buildings and utterly uncritically disregarding the fact that MANY animals survived close range nuclear bombs on ships and changes in architecture. It also disregards the lessons from massive volcano eruptions that are hundreds of times of Czar bomba which only very lightly impacted agriculture etc. Basically the scientists are butchering the science and academic honesty to discourage war planning. Just like most of scientific community is willingly surpressing the Race and IQ facts from being discussed, recieving publicity or adjusting lectures and related stuff. There is literal politically motivated opposition to discussing the impact of these nastytruths and adjusting public or military policy in accordance. Their audiences, both not on level in an academic sense and raised in a very pacifism dominated times have no inner motivation to really question the "futility and unwinnable nature of a nuclear war", it is taken as a given.

48.37- everything is possible when psychopaths play with political and money power. Human intelligence has its limits when emotions run wild. We are all involved in social madness. On one side we have a tiny minority with money power, which means political power. On the other we have the masses with the number power but no hierarchy or organisations with a leadership to defeat those playing Russian roulette in politics. If everything is possible with humans then it is not foolish to believe that the people at large can change the game. The human consciousness is taking shape at a higher level for the last 20 years or so. The network of communication support such change regardless of the manipulation by most media’s. Such acquisition of knowledge to raise our consciousness about reality is a basic human right. This has been manipulated non stop by those having the upper hands on the power of money. Accumulation of money is possible only through the fraudulent system of private property of means of production and distribution. The masses produce the wealth but have no control over it. The vertical power top down confiscate it outright and decides as they please how to use it, and it is an ugly picture to deal with. The horizontal magma, that is all of us, the workers and low rank of society have to suffer the outrageous way the scoundrels in power mismanage the wealth we produce. America being the biggest economy in the world is also the biggest trouble maker in the world. The arrogance display by the US in all sectors of financial and commercial activities is unacceptable. The situation has reach a point where even the scoundrels in governments around the world who obey until now the directives of the US to avoid banking strangulation and commercial embargo of some sort or other organise themselves to avoid using the dollar and slowly succeed with various manœuvres that infuriate the US who, in their arrogance declare economical and financial sanctions. This reality doesn’t escape the attention of the people around the world who start having second thought about the US imperialistic attitudes. The knowledge of what the US has been doing to destroy any challenge to their hegemony over the last 70 years spread at the level of the horizontal magma at an unprecedented level and this is going to have serious effects in the social and political arena in due time. The scoundrels in power are very aware of this change taking place in the consciousness of the people at large and do their best to stop it through propaganda and repressive mesures of all kind. Corruption is in the increase of course, this is one of the method used to muzzle popular movements, the power of money is used at all levels. We are at war, the war is the class war, a deadly war, better understand its significance, ignorance kills.

No more destabilizing than discovering your trusted government has been lying to you or has been found supremely corrupt in some instance. It can be argued that our current polarization is due to distrust of current levels of authority, elected and otherwise, and rightly so. I find that those that push against transparency tend to be fear driven (of change), are more susceptible to false narratives pushed by a government or authority figure and therefore less capable of giving good advice. Alternately, they hold themselves smarter or more important than others. Advances I wish to be a part of come from innovation and thoughtfulness that stem from discovery of new truths, social, scientific and cultural that are not restricted by dogma let alone deliberate obfuscation of facts by benevolent benefactors.

Daniel dear, do you think anyone is taking your FACTS seriously. If people took your facts seriously, there would have been an emotional response that is marked by depression depicted by pin drop silence. People hear you and still manage to laugh over the small funny incidents happening towards the end of your talk: psychologically humans never acknowledge small funny incidents in face of grave and real mass death facing in their faces. I am sorry to have commented like this. I love humans when they laugh, but ... we are already dead. I won't say more. May my imaginary God/s of compassion take mercy and let us all sit and think with compassion. Daniel a big Thank you for being a normal human and helping humanity. I shall always remember you as one of my own kin. I don't know if you got rewarded, you surely are worth more than any reward. Daniel I shall recreate your courage in my shivering heart and shall teach at least one kid to learn your courage and compassion. I am sorry I heard nobody applause when you offered to help humanity by blocking any misadventure even if you got sentenced to death 44:47 . Boy o boy you are solid !! and the lack of response from one of the best audiences I could imagine (Google still says "Don't be evil") makes this the most tragic incident in my long life ( mind you I have lost all of my family, still I label this as the most tragic event in my speck of a life ... I am extremely disturbed by a Google audience not applauding or getting concerned enough ... only a true Zen master/s or psychologically damaged human/s can react to this talk the way this audience has ... I say this out of love and nothing other than love). For the audience: I honestly don't have the capability to help you guys enough to GET REAL. I hope I don't ever meet any of you as it would break my bipolar heart.

September ll, 2019 Daniel Ellsberg should do a one hour speech (once a day) on updates, interviews of 'Under an Ionized Sky' by Elana Freeland; interviews of Leuren Moret on Lawrence Livermore Labs and aersols (near the U.C. Berkeley football stadium), satellites, lasers, to do a Hiroshima, Nagasaki 1945 copy, anywhere, anytime, from their footfall field of laser machines (see the article in the mass mailer 'Cal State East Bay' with a cover of these machines. DEW Directed Energy Weapons to make firestorms jump over 8 lane freeways in seconds; so the Super Rich can take over land that insurance companies refuse to insure. All of this planned in 'Rockefeller Resilient Cities': interview the California city government expert Deborah Tavares (she lost family and friends in recent fires). The Far Right have brought the foreign wars home to the USA to look like wildfires caused by drought (caused by daily Geoengineering spraying). Geoengineering includes dumping of toxic dust into the oceans surrounding Florida, killing dolphins and manatees. Interview John Pilger about 'The Coming War on China' about the mass guinea pig tests on humans of radioactive bombing of the Bikini and Marshall Islands with fake friendship to xray the victims and enjoy their cancer development. This was done at Stanford Hospital, see the female baby, about 1957, her neck has a tumor about the size of a grapefruit, photo by the doctor Dr. Chester Trossman, graduate of Harvard during WWll. He delivered babies for the Navy. Interview the women (thousands) who have cancer of the neck, living near the Bikini and Marshall Islands, kicked out for the 2020 Space Fence and 'bussed back and forth' to work as slaves for the U.S. military to go back to slums on crowded bus boats every day. They just want their land back. The U.K. did the same thing to Africans on an island near India; the UK shot to death all their friendly Black Labrador Retrievers who helped them fish for hundreds of years; to make a base for war jets to take off and land, to load bombs to kill poor people.

It would be so easy to be an optimist but I am fearful of human nature. The coming age of robotics is being designed to serve commerce but without incentive it can just as easily be turned against the population. From unidentified sources I have heard disturbing terms like, “useless eaters” or that the ideal world's population would be 500 million for a Utopia. The current business plan is maximum capital extraction. People liberated by robotics are being pushed to the curb. Very soon there will be nothing left but casinos, collection agencies and private prisons. A brilliant tribute for man's ingenuity, a disaster for humanity.

The tendency of pretending that any war is a defensive one shows two things. First of all is that the majority of people, at least in civilized countries, cannot be made to kill or be made to die unless they are first convinced that they are doing so in order to defend their lives and freedom; second, it shows that it is not difficult to persuade millions of people that they are in danger of being attacked, and hence, that they are called upon to defend themselves. Such persuasion depends most of all on a lack of independent thinking and feeling, and on emotional dependence of the vast majority of people on their political and or religious leaders. The middle east seems to be a Thunderdome where people/children go and fight and DIE, For What? The whims of corrupt politicians and their political agenda? College tuition? What? And don't tell me, "Our Freedoms" 🤨 And try and understand that criticizing or detouring those people who sign up or would sign up, to die, to Serve the whims of those corrupt politicians, is Not an insult to those who have died, in which I Respect with the utmost, but serves as a Warning to the Living, Not to Blindly obey corrupt politicians... I feel that the Best way we can honor our fallen soldiers, is to STOP creating so Many of them... The military and the machine of war it produces and forces upon the world is Disgustingly Evil, and it has gotten away with so much because of Patriotism of the American Empire.. That's what the Rich evoke and call to when it's time for the poor to bear the burden and Die for profits... Why is there such a lack of Empathy among Americans? WAKE UP AMERICA!!! Your government is corrupt, governments are Not for the people, Police do Not protect you, School does Not to educate you... Your banks are holding you as collateral, Your military is used to terrorize the world while your media keeps you distracted with mindless celebrity bullshit. Your wars are about resources and financial control. You have more in common with the people you're bombing than the Billionaire's that are ruling you... Nothing in this world operates the way you think it does. Privately Owned Banks (Federal Reserve, is No more Federal than Federal express) loan fiat $, The entire structure of civilization in the western world is a combination of Brilliantly Conceived and Well-Planned Schemes to direct the minds of the people to serve their perceived overlords. This Madness has to End. I will Always be Antiwar..

the British went into Vietnam to help the french out after WW2,at the time the french had no troops and France was in disorder,along with japanese soldiers they pressed into service from prisoner of war.the Japanese and British soldiers proved very effective and had all but won...that is till the French came along and messed it up with troops with no experience and a bad attitude towards the native population.also when the USA got involved the relationship between the then PM and the President was not at its best.Britain was on the whole in a place were the British people would not stand to see more troops going to fight away from home so the then PM would not send troops.he did try to give advice (on the experience Britain had got from Malaysia which we had fought and won and also our time in Vietnam) but was told to mind his own business.so the USA got into a war that should and would have ended if the French had stayed away a little longer (but who is to say that with the the french troops not having the experience to run the colanie it would not have happened again at a later date)or maybe if the USA had taken British advice on how to conduct it.
