The Doors performed one of the greatest concerts ever on July 5th, 1968 at the Hollywood Bowl, . 56 years ago right this minute! it's on KZbin. A great one to watch. I watched it so many times on a little 13" Sony Trinaton color TV on a VCR HIFI tape hooked to my sound system with Magnepan Magneplanar speakers (Magnepan is the brand). These speakers sound so amazing!!! Everyone should have a pair of Magnepan speakers! I'm just a fan. Don't let the crazy prices fool you on a new pair, the old 1970's SMG1's sound great plus...well just read. Magnepan Magneplanar speakers operate differently ( note they are NOT electrostatic speakers) and their large flat surface puts out a large uniform footprint of sound where all of the frequencies don't drown out one another. The definition is impeccable. Another great thing is that the pressure is lower. So no ear fatigue even though it sounds loud. Two other benefits are, even though the surface of the flat speakers is large, you can operate these speakers in a smaller room because the sound doesn't need space to disperse outward from the speaker cone. The sound is already dispersed as soon as it leaves the large surface. The other benefit is because of the low pressure, you can have the volume high, but as soon as you walk into the other room and shut the door you can barely hear it. I guess while I'm sounding more like a salesman than a fan, here is a tip that can save you from spending those thousands on a new set of Magneplanars. Find a pair of SMg1 Magneplanars or similar older models. If the seller says they rattle, but work well otherwise. Buy them. You can get the adhesive directly from Magnepan to reglue the copper wire to the Mylar.

Ray Manzarek was the best band spokesman of all time, Not to mention the greatest combo organist. There isn't much difference between a combo organ and a home organ of the 1960's. In fact a 1966 Vox Continental used the same 12 tone generators divided down technology as a 1966 Wurlitzer 4520 Electronic Theater Organ. The Wurlitzer just was more extensive. (4520 is the horseshoe "theater organ" console cabinet, but the 4500 straight console cabinet organ is identical otherwise. Actually Wurlitzer wanted to reach a larger market so they made their first electronic theater organ in 1964, and put it in that straight console cabinet and didn't even refer to it specifically as a theater organ even though that's what it was.

It pains me to see all these KZbin commercials of young kids promoting how to make music without learning scales, without learning how to make chords, and without ever becoming a real musician. Because being a teacher of music was never one of my aspirations I only took one student during the 1980s and traded him bass lessons for being my roadie. He went on to perform and tour with very famous blues artists and is now a session player in Nashville. He couldn’t even keep a beat when he started and I made him go by a metronome. I honestly didn’t think he was gonna ever become a decent musician, but his desire combined with my musical knowledge created a professional musician. It took several years.

@@Airbaja True, I guess it's just the perfection of The Doors music that makes it far superior to any other versions.
