Hello Mr Snyder. Fantastic box set just what a timeless band deserves. Definitely a good purchase that big smile said it all. About the sound, that is the reasons why I think rock and metal should be record in tape not to digital. The remaster you listen to comes from the original tapes. A remaster from a digital never sound the same. Cheers.

@@BrendonSnyder you are absolutely right my friend. I’m a huge Alan Parsons Project fan and I love those deluxe boxsets he’s been releasing, but I won’t buy them due to the vinyl cd packaging. I’ve just had to settle for the single Blu Ray audio discs instead, which I’m cool with and I’m so thankful I have the option to have the stand alone blu ray. Anyhow. It is just my opinion but I think cd and vinyl boxsets should have their own worlds. ;)

Great album. I always dug the cover. The Doors’ final two albums with Morrison, both bluesy rock albums, are like part 1 and 2. Can’t really say which one I like better. Probably LA Woman, just for the title track and “Riders on the Storm.” I’ve heard keyboardist Ray Manzarek say that “Riders” was the last song Morrison recorded with the group.

The previous remastered version from original tapes on Rhino-Elextra with bonus tracks was quite fine! there is nothing here but fancier packaging and third rate outtakes. Another overblown anniversary edition with little to offer. This is about marketing.
@BrendonSnyder4 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the 2007 Rhino remasters that actually weren’t remasters and were newly edited with added parts from outtakes and embellishments to create new versions of the classic albums? There hasn’t been a remaster from the original master tapes. Plus if you haven’t heard this new mix including the outtakes, I’m not sure how you could possibly call it 3rd rate.
@thomasanderson32304 жыл бұрын
@@BrendonSnyder Perhaps you're right it's great. However I'm just tired of constantly having to re-buy! The 2007 Rhino album sounds great and the bonus tracks are better.I have The Doors albums already on the Rhino releases and I'm happy with those.I just feel the record company is taking advantage of the legions of completists and collectors.The 50th anniversary album is expensive and the trend these days seems to be that we are inundated with expensive anniversary editions and boxed sets which are pricey.
@BrendonSnyder4 жыл бұрын
I totally hear what you’re saying. And in lots of cases with other bands I’d completely agree. However at least with The Doors it’s different. Now that’s not to say you have to get it. But as mentioned earlier in 2007 those weren’t remasters. And they sound so good because they were embellished from additional session takes. The draw for these new 50th anniversary ones are that they restored the tracks to their original mixes without the embellishments and then went back to the original mixes that in some cases were never able to be achieved but what were desired. So the changes are subtle and I agree I love the 2007 versions. But I am a big fan and love the subtle changes and so for me it’s really worth it. I just wish they didn’t make me pay for the vinyl when all I want is the cd’s. That’s where the record label is sticking it to me.

@BrendonSnyder3 жыл бұрын
How was the artwork modified? Regarding the bonus material, it’s worth is all on the eye of the beholder.
@morgancamolese44883 жыл бұрын
I meant that the cover art was marred by a horrible red frame (same sad fate that happened to waiting for the sun). the image on the back and the one inside have also been modified. I think that cover art is like a painting: untouchable. it is not philologically correct to modify.( and this is the most serious point.) regarding the second record, I think the only interesting tracks are the jazz-style versions of Queen of the highway ( Number 12 and 14)
@BrendonSnyder3 жыл бұрын
The art hasn’t been touched it’s just inset. Regarding the bonus material, I have disagree. It’s great to have that fly on the wall perspective and hear them working out a song.
@morgancamolese44883 жыл бұрын
I can understand your interest in the second disc (but which I don't have ... except jazz styles tracks) but regarding the first point, I do not compromise: a cover art is like a work of art. it have not be disfigured. I want to see the original images, on the cardboard of the disc .. not inside the paper inserts .. the red frame is terrible. I think It s necessary having attention to these details when releasing an important record
@BrendonSnyder3 жыл бұрын
That’s cool man, we both have our opinions on it. I’m ok with it since the ordinal albums and art are still available. This is not replacing the single disc. Anyway, cool to hear your side of it. Did you check out the Soft Parade boxset? Here is a link if you’re interested kzbin.info/www/bejne/h52Qhpmla7isq7M . You’ll probably feel the same way about the art on this one! 😉
