I LOVE it when you do The Doors, my favorite band of all time. I was listening to them in the womb (I'm 34 now). I named my English Mastiff Morrison. Yes...that obsessed lol. Fun fact: The band actually never had a permanent bass player. They would get a player to play on the albums only, but when playing Live, the keyboardist Ray Mazurek is the one who played bass on his keyboards. They even got Elvis Priestley's bass player on one album, which Jim was ecstatic for! Try the song Soft Parade; then temp changes about 5xs but definitely an underrated classic.

Love the name of your Mastiff, and thanks for the fun fact. I did not know that. I had a husky-timber wolf and his name was James Douglas Morrison. We also had an Iguana named Jim and one named Pam. My husband loved this band so much and he had at least 75 Doors tee shirts. When he passed away I had his shirts made into a quilt. It came out awesome. We also played Doors music at his wake and even though he wore a suit, the shirt he wore was a Doors shirt. When we got to the cemetery gates the day we buried him it started pouring rain and on the radio Riders On The Storm came on. I didn't have the radio on but several people came running up to tell me. Sorry this was long

Good analysis on the lyrics. This song is kind of a foreshadowing of Jim escaping stardom. Also his personality. He could charm a person, he could challenge a person, he could bring people together with charisma, or drive them to chaos. True thinker, artist, and rebel. Not a phony. Authentic as it gets and always pushing the limits of reality and the status quo. He lived it, hard. Too bad he didnt get to live out his escape though ... or did he?

Jamal's comments about this part in the lyrics were spot on: ""I had money and I had none, But I've never been so broke that I couldn't leave town,." Jim Morrison was planning to leave Los Angeles for Paris when they were recording this. Jim wanted to get away from the rock lifestyle and focus on his poetry/writing in Paris. I've heard other members of the Doors speculate/comment on this. Of course, Jim in fact went to Paris a few months after recording this album. Unfortunately, he passed away after being in Paris just a few months (and at only 27 years old).

First off, I love watching your reactions! You r authentic wth em, and that's wat makes em great! But 1 can only imagine wat " the doors" wld hav done if Jim hadn't of died?? They were just hitting they're groove wth " L.A. woman " awesome!! Anything off of it or the " Morrison hotel " album rocks!

This is my 2nd favourite Doors song - Soul Kitchen no.1. - greatest intro song into a album! That LA Woman album is one of the greatest albums ever - please check out the 4th song on this album "Cars hiss by my window" - Jim Morrison at its best!
