808 does not say it has to be used with Mousse Def only. The bottle says it can be used alone or with a little of the foam… but it also says to use first when using other product(s)… I’m saying this bc I want us to be fair when reviewing products.. Nevertheless, your hair ended up bomb & I can’t wait to try it!

Your hair came out so 🔥🔥🔥! Any brand would prefer you use their products together as a system, as they were all formulated to work together. As someone mentioned Apple as an example. Yeah, you can use other Bluetooth earbuds with an iPhone, but they prefer that you to buy the AirPods. I'm sure it'll work well with other products, but they're not gonna highlight someone else's product while trying to sell theirs.

They did actually tease it with a post a while ago. And she posted about doing the live and done a full demo of this product. If you don't follow them closely then yes you would have missed it. And since has done more promoting of it on her page. I feel like she made this base gel because of the Curly Magic being used with her foam so imo it was a very good business move. I'm sure influencers will venture to try this base gel with other foams. I know I will be trying it with different foams to see. As a business owner I don't expect her to say you can use it with others as she is not going to promote for other brands.

Hi! I understand and respect your opinion but here’s my logic. Regardless of her promoting on a simple live, remember that EVERYONE doesn’t constantly look at there phones to catch a measly 15-30 min live. People lives are busy, plus it’s not ideal that you would expect the whole world to stop and catch a live about a product you’re not properly promoting. You also have to take into account that everyone doesn’t have a social media to even see that. Regardless of her doing a live that still does not explain why there was no marketing on a website and at the time on social media. I watched her page for weeks at a time and never saw not one advertisement about it. I also believe that making a base gel and SOLEY stating that it’s preferred only with her mousse is still very limiting. I don’t see UFD making announcements that curly magic is only valid with UFD products. The business move may have been smart to you because you may only be looking at it from one angle. Let me also add when I posted about the gel for the first time… almost every follower was shocked this product was even out till this day.

@Tyradeshone It actually was a very detailed live like she done for her Press Play line. And yes I get the busy part as I almost didn't catch it as I forgot she was doing it that evening. But I did manage to catch a portion of it and it was very good and informative. I wish she had actually saved it and posted it to her page so folks could watch it at their leisure. I think because she was releasing it to Target first hence why you didn't see it on her site until she released it on there. It was exclusive to Target first. Other brands actually do this as well.

@Tyradeshone When I say a good business move I mean in the sense that she made a product similar to UFD so that hopefully, customers would be interested in using hers rather than theirs. To me that's good business sense...🤷🏾‍♀️

I think she also realized she pushed for people to use her foam and custard alone but it might be drying people's hair out so a base gel may be good for that reason too

Yes most of the time brands have products that are supposed to go with another product. I.e- iPhone- AirPods, Mac, IPad, etc. Same with other products like make up & setting sprays. It’s like both a marketing technique to make more money- so consumers can feel like they are getting the whole experience.

I use it with the Doux "Bee Girl" Honey Mousse... I love the results. It says it's best used with the Def Mousse.

At 3:57, you said you don’t understand why the gel only works with another product in their product line….. of course they won’t advise you to use someone else’s product. If you read other company’s packaging, you will see that they make recommendations to use another product in the same product line.

You’re welcome! 😇 and eh :/ I mean both are gels at the end of the day so the results of the similarities are there but the only difference I would say is that 808 is a lighter gel and has some stickiness to it! It’s also a medium hold I feel! 😌

Updated comment, the 808 gel is more fragrant, perfumery than Big Poppa gel. It actually gave me a headache while applying it. But thank goodness it does not linger.

I actually don't like UFD, but i still know how to use itband make it work IF i have to. I dont prefer it though. I'm wondering if I'll like the 808 base gel better. I'm definitely planning to try it. And know this...i will be tryimg it with different combos just like I did with UFD. I don't be listening to these people/brands. Lol. But im a faithful user of Mousse Def as a topper over various different gels. So that wont be a problem at all. I'll try that base gel with Crazy Sexy Curl on top too. My curiosity... 😂

​@@TyrabookerI tried it three times and I really didn't like it. I combined with Mousse Def. I tried with Crazy Sexy Curl. I tried with I Create Hold. Super soft hold with each and lasted only 2 days! I can't see any time when I would reach for it. I like it even less than UFD. I returned it to Target. Won't be repurchasing.
