"Oh that's the very last thing I would want!" The friendship between these two is one of the best things of the show, both dames make a remarkable pair. When I saw Isobel in the movie on Violet's funeral I cried so bad! we'd never have these two together again!" Edit: RIP Dame Maggie Smith!

@@kimmcewen8536 For an obvious plot point. She was old in the series, then by the second movie she would have been ancient. It was kind of an unavoidable story

I absolutely adore Isobel! She is by far the kindest, most selfless character on the show. We should all be so fortunate to have a friend like her!

I could easily watch this whole series focused on nothing but the tapestries and rugs. This is the only show where I’ve missed whole plot lines because I can’t get over some vase or something in the background

Totally agree and that's one of the reasons I disliked it when the started to 'speed it up' in later seasons. That, and they cut too much character informative dialogue in favor of perceived one liners.

The tone of voice when isobel tells the doctor she will take care of Violet. Was like a punch in the gut. The best kind but wow what acting. It felt so real

Maggie Smith literally coughs like she has a nasty lung infection. Her flustered face the cracked voice and the wheeze.... And in the end the way she says Ohh goody goody 😊

I’m probably the last to notice this but it seems as if Violet finally let Robert install electricity in the Dowager House. I noticed the lamps when the scenes cut to her bedroom. I guess everyone eventually caves in. I love when she asked how long the card game goes, Isabel responds “oh ages”. I LOVE when Violet responds “Oh goodie, goodie !”

I've watched the entire series at least 10 times and I hadn't noticed that. Very good catch! From all I've read and watched from this period, many people thought electricity was just a fad. In the U.S., only the rich could afford it for a long time. I'm sure if was considered a status symbol, Violet would have wanted it!
