Yes. Very, very good. Having been taught decades ago to get the toe pointing up at shaft parallel I kinda worked this out for myself 3 years or so ago. The feeling I have is “right hand on top” of grip, almost “twisting” the clubface shut (compared to old feeling). Much better, more consistent strikes and lower ball flight

Thanks....your comment about not liking left wrist feels (may have been in another of your vids?) worked for me. Having the left wrist just bending back (logo down) just felt weird...especially at the top!! Real weird!! Who am I, but even DJ looks awkward at the top....so imagine me!! Keeping the left wrist flat at address and 'pulling' the right wrist breaking the wrist back and in plane seemed to do the trick. I don't think I even worried about the 'and up' part as I was hitting ball solidly with what may have been a three quarter swing! I even seem to have sorted out my 'J Arthur's'!! : ) Thanks again!!

E, love this and using it successfully as a pre swing looking at the first check point for my back of wrist and club face. Q - on a wedge shot I look for the first check point of club face to be more open, right? Is it best to use down and out method only on the full swing of wedge?
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Lee--good question! For all FULL SWING shots (wedge included) I would look at the club slightly tilted down (toe in front of heel) (leading edge roughly parallel to back line) For partial wedge shots 30-100 that same thing can apply For finesse wedge shots (0-30 yards) I would usually go more toe up so you have more bounce so you have more margin of error, easier contact, etc

This was absolutely excellent, Eric. Let me compare this video to the $2000 four day golf school put on by Martin Chuck at the Raven Golf Club in Arizona: shit to Shinola. That Canadian faker had an assistant teaching us who couldn't find the fairway with his driver or the green with his wedge. "Goofy", as we called him, never played college golf. What a ripoff! Chuck who designed and sells the "Play Station" and the "Tour Striker", didn't show us how to use either. That's sad because the "Play Station" does what Bierkan did with the alignment sticks. The "Tour Striker" forces a student to hit down on the ball to insure solid compression. Summing my comments up: your free video far exceeded Martin Chuck's $2000, four day course. In fact, your video taught me what that phony, Chuck, didn't.

Hey Eric... I love the twist away but am not seeing the specific moves you need to try to get that ball started more to the right. Is it tons of lower body rotation? Something else? Thanks for the great lessons!
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Alex! I would say their are a few variables to get the ball started more right 1. Swing path more from inside (to the right) 2. More shaft lean 3. Less closing face through release (if you open in less in backswing you dont have to close it as much on was down) Hope that helps

Eric, is the “Down, Out, & Up” drill/feel basically the same as the “Twist Away” drill/swing feel? Can it be used in place of, or should it be used in conjunction with Twist Away? Also thinking 🤔 about the Hangar Drill in relation to Down, Out, & Up; are all three of these drills basically teaching the same feel but just using different methods, lending the student the ability to choose which one promotes the “Best” feel? And lastly, but not leastly (🤔), the downswing feel, should we be consciously trying to hide the logo on the way down as well? 🍻🏌️♂️
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin! Yes-same idea as twist away! Thats correct. The hanger would be the same thing as well. You CAN, but don't have to. The more you close it on the way back the LESS you need to close it on the way down. If you close it on the way back and its STILL OPEN then yes do it more coming down. If you do it coming down and it gets too closed pull back a bit.

If your hitting hooks from this hand action then your ready for the next piece. Get yourself a face angle pointer and learn to match the back of your left hand to the face angle. The face is going to point more to the right at address which is fine. To hit tight draws your face needs to be right of the target line and left of your path. If the toe is down the face is closed and we want for all shots the heel of the club leading the strike.

Same with driver?
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Yep you can do the same with driver....more if your face is normally too open.....less if its not.

The key here is "The down" part should be done with mostly shoulder turn. A lot of bad players turn too flat.
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Thank for the feedback, Michael! Shoulder turn definitely a PART of it! Arm rotation and wrist angles relative to grip other big parts

This left rist bent stuff really hurts my carapl tunnel left wrist. Guess to play good golf I gotta have surgery.

Morikawa has the wrist bowed at the top yet his club face does not appear shut like your’s does, it’s more neutral. Why is that?
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott! His face does get closed but less....because his grip is weaker than mine thats why.
@jakeparent-lew45193 жыл бұрын
Would we want to feel less of this in the short game to prevent the leading edge from digging?

This is my biggest issue. I manipulate the club too much in my swing and tend to roll my hands open.

Looks more of a simpler way to swing?. Less movement in wrists . Seems all about matching everything at impact. A bit DJ ish
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Yep! Should make it a lot easier for a lot of people during downswing!
@andrefecteau3 жыл бұрын
ok folks they miss that this is "upwing theory"... guess what? you don't hit the ball with your upswing...you have to learn "downswing theory"...and few teach that
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, Andre! It all matters....everything effects everything!
@andrefecteau3 жыл бұрын
@@CogornoGolf indeed, however you will find that you can only focus on "upswing or downswing"...pick one See the swing thought can only be one thing, it changes, but the better you can define what you are doing the more consistent you will be...it's 1 million miles from that practice tee to the 1st tee...better have a game plan.
