As someone who grew up in the peak of football, I never had the opportunity to own any of my favorite football boots until recently. My first boot I ever purchased were the Nike Tiempo Legend 9 Space Purples. The ones used in the recent world cup; however, kangaroo leather has been banned by many places, so obtaining that boot was difficult for someone in the United States. I also got the Nike Mercurial Superfly 9 Pink Foam after watching them in the recent Euros. And when they announced the return of the predator line, uk I copped some of them joints. I especially copped the Adidas Predator Jude Bell. One of the only boots that is wore by a current player that I own. I also got the remake of Toni Kroos’ adidas 11 Pro. And the only old boot I have gotten my hands on are the Nike mercurial R7 Safaris. Those have always been my dream boot. They’re just so clean

I had those Iniesta boots as a striker. You're totally right, they are synononimus with control, which helped me with difficult receptions inside the box. They also helped me with mid and long distance shooting. I dramatically increased my scoring numbers with that boot. The best time to grow up was the Beckham-Ronaldinho Total 90 time. Boots have never been as beautiful as in that era.

Finally someone talks about this. I feel like the line ups aren’t as strong anymore and the graphics used to be much more consistently striking or clean. T90: rooney/torres/sneijder CTR: iniesta/fabregas F50: raul/messi/villa Mercs: ronaldo/ribery What it seems like has happened adding on to your explanation is that brands have now gone to making boots that hold their own identity and subsequently players pick what they prefer now instead of getting picked.

I've bought a lot of boots in my time nearly 20 years playing twice a week, I've had them all, Pumka kings, Mercurials, F50s etc etc and I'm sorry but you cannot get 'good' boots for £50. Those boots are intended for people who will play like 3 games one summer, chuck the boots in the cupboard and never look at them again. If you intend to actually use them regularly, the extra money does actually mean extra quality and durabillity. Something most don't know is that if any addidas or Nike boot fails within 2 years they wiill cover it under warranty. This year I got new Addidas preds and first I went for the £60 pair in white, the sole came away within a couple of months, returned them, got another pair, same problem! In the end I got them to send me the £200 boots (I paid a little extra but not the full whack, Addidas do 3 levels of the same boot, £50 to £200) and they are holding up great, well past the 6 month mark with these.

I don't know why many people belittle pumas. Most puma boots are not supple enough fresh out of the box. I think puma boots have bad first impression. I once bought a puma boots that I couldn't jam my feet into at the shoe store. I bought it anyways hoping it would fit me later when they break in. Took a month playing to really get them breaking in. To my surprise I never got blisters ever. The boots fit me like a condom. No dead spaces.

Interesting take mate, however I think the reason why the boots don’t hit the same is because they’re all basically the same now. After the 2014 World Cup and Nike making boots out of knits EVERYONE switched to textiles or some sort of knit. Right now it’s mesh. I wish the brands would go back to their roots, adidas is trying but everyone should just go back to making unique boots instead of trying to copy off each other and find trends.
