I live in Houston and what gets me is how I’ve listened to Houston complain about some of the black owned businesses! Thank you for your review. I can't stand TikTok, but I liked what he was doing. There are too many of these content creators who just do horrible things for clout and views, which is why people have no morals or ethics anymore. I don't blame him for calling out black restaurants because I've called them out too when I've gone back to my hometown. It's a shame how they treat their customers and talk to you like you're someone's wayward child when you're there to order food and get service - they're not doing me a favor. I had to write several bad reviews when I got back home and only one positive review. That's sad. One place had the nerve to have an automatic menu you order from and put the tip mandatory on there with no way to remove it, but no human takes your order, you have to go up to the window and get your food then bus your own table. Why am I paying a tip????? Then after we got our food, we were there ten minutes and then they said we had to get out because they were closing. It was cold and raining outside and we were starving from having worked all day. And the way they said it was like they were talking to someone they couldn't stand. I'm so glad I don't ever have to step foot in that city again. They have to do better.

This is supposed to be “chocolate city”…as in AFRICAN AMERICAN….not Ethiopian, Somalian, Indian, Senegalese etc city. And quiet as it’s kept, they are VERY racist & prejudice towards Blacks. There are probably a handful of soul food restaurants but a shit ton of Korean BBQ & African food. I am Caribbean(Jamaican) and I don’t like most African or Asian food-sorry. And it’s frustrating that’s mostly all we have to chose from in DC. A lot of these immigrants have moved here, pushed native blacks out of their communities & set up restaurants that specially cater to their cuisine & have the audacity to be rude & nasty to the AA community that built this place. It is a VERY niche cuisine out here and if you’re not into that you’re going to have a hard time finding good food. They treat the locals as if THEY are the foreigners & I’ve personally witnessed mistreatment if you are not apart of their culture so saying these places are “black owned” is inaccurate. South East DC is like the only place with a heavy AA presence but it’s mostly food trucks. ironically, it’s the most dangerous place in DC that most ppl try to avoid. It’s a struggling food desert but a crap ton of foreign liquor stores. Most of us have caught on and started to just go eat in MD where the food is actually good, there is an actual AA presence & the prices haven’t reached astronomical levels yet. I like to drink but it’s insane that in DC you could easily spend $60 on just 3 drinks at certain bars on U Street so he wasn’t lying…

I live in DC, and our food scene is disappointing. No one has ever come to DC and said the food was good. The people who are complaining aren’t even from Washington, DC. Washingtonians do not eat African or Ethiopian food-or whatever else might be trendy. If it’s not soul food or carryout, it won’t be recommended. Any Washingtonian will tell you that if you want good food, it’s not in a DC restaurant-you have to go to a cookout. Oohs and Aahs used to be good until white people found it, and they started cooking to their taste, as most Black restaurants in DC do. Florida Avenue Grill is another example. Additionally, what makes our food seem terrible is that many Black immigrants open restaurants and put their own twist on soul food, and it just isn’t good.

My issue with him is that in his video of his time in the DMV, he mentioned that he went to a restaurant that had no running water. There was also a restaurant that fried chicken and fish in the same grease. Those restaurants need to be reported. Someone can get seriously sick. I can understand if he didn't want to name them publicly, but he should have reported them to the health department. Things like that shouldn't be ignored. He blew the issue with Taraji out of proportion. There was no need to post that video of him throwing the rose on the floor. She apologized and it should have been left at that.

Sorry he is wrong. He needs to do better research on places to go. I live on the dmv. He is possibly placing himself in danger by attacking restaurants. Ppl are sheep as the follow this person based on his opinion. Does he go to white restaurants as well? Where did he received training in culinary services.?
