@@Maswartz226 come on man. Whats so serious about it?it was a joke from the beginning a running gag
@Scrimmers4 ай бұрын
@@JamesHowlett-qy3yq Because it ended up harming 3 different characters. Donnie for nearly 3 seasons straight was crushing over April to an inappropriate level to the point he would stalk her and memorize her exact coordinates. Now it's not like it's this disgusting vile thing that Donnie ended gaining a crush on April, he's a teenage boy who's been isolated from the entire world his whole life so it makes sense that he would gain a crush on the first girl he meets.If this was just simple crush like "she's so pretty:)" kinda like how it was with Mikey in 90's movies this would be okay, but it's not as I just explained earlier. April on the other hand is just a mess of character in this show. The writers couldn't really decided how they wanted her to respond to Donnie's crush, sometimes she appear's uncomfortable with Donnie's obsession with her but doesn't wanna tell cause she doesn't want to hurt his feelings (this being shown in the season 2 finale), but other times she appears fine with it and likes it (the most notorious example of this being the shitfest that was a foot to big).Not to mention she has no other significant bonds with the turtles besides Donnie because the writers were to busy playing the world's most annoying game of "will they won't they" with Donnie, April,and Casey. The two never get proper closure as she just unexpectedly kisses Donnie at the end of a foot too big and they LITERALLY never address this ever again. Now Casey is quite literally a nothing burger in this show. Yeah he's a fun and silly guy but that's as far as he goes.Not even five episodes after his appearance he gets dragged into a love triangle because Donnie spots Casey and April hanging out a PARK of all places and he decides that Casey is a threat to him and April's relationship despite the fact he had no context at all who he is to April. We never get any depth to him, hell we couldn't even at least have an episode where we meet the supposed little sister he cares so much about. He just stays a joke character for the entire show with little complexity whatsoever. This subplot never gained any proper conclusion and it clearly failed at being a joke cause speak to any 2012 fan today and they'll tell you about how damn annoying it was.

They all can make their own unique sounds what their own species can make, and I love how that creator thought of their turtle-ish side! 😁 The turtles were always depicted as more like teenagers rather than animals, but they are, in fact, mutated animals. I think the TMNT series makers always left out this part of them, because I would love to see a version of the boys who look a bit more animalistic, like having tails for example, or to make more turtle noises. 30:09-30:46 lmao brother numbers wise this is not a “downfall.” the show ratings went down because they barely aired the show, the shows story driven so new people or people who don’t keep up with the inconsistent schedule probably won’t watch much, a lot of episodes went on the nick site or got leaked in different countries and online, cable died down, the shows format and title changed, and the last season aired on a difference channel. Despite all of that the show still basically got a million views per episode only dipping to like 900k lmao. Besides from the show itself it stayed relevant having a massively popular mobile game tmnt legends, stayed consistent numbers wise on TikTok and yt, became one of the most popular animated kids shows on Netflix, and the new tmnt channel has a video of 2012 gaining 50 million views 💀 for the actual show quality part u just continue to repeat arguments that u never back up the video and have no objectivity but how are the main characters flanderised? Showing a part of raph angry isn’t enough especially when in the arc and season ur showing raph gets the most character he’s ever had. Also how is the tone inconsistent. Is adventure time and gravity falls inconsistent?
@spinballproduction96784 ай бұрын
I agree with this comment. Another thing to bring is that the show didn’t get cancelled it ended. I’m sure it could have went for 6 or 7 seasons but they just wanted to stop at 5 and originally wanted 4. Him saying that it didn’t get more because of “seasonal rot” is incorrect. I think I kind’ve understand the flanderization part. After season 1 (my favorite season) a lot of episodes are spent repeating development for the turtles. Like for example season 4 episode 18 where Raph’s whole deal in that episode feels like it’s been taken care of of 3 or 4 times at this point. It’d be great for season 1 but it’s just not very engaging to me at season 4. Though in this case it’s better to say that some of the characters lack development not that they’re being flanderised. Also yeah I never really get the inconsistent tone critique a lot of the time. I don’t see why a show can’t be sometimes serious and sometimes funny. 2003 always gets characterized as the dark one but that show has comedic moments even in some of it’s dark and intense moments. I didn’t even get his complaint with the filler episodes as 2003 has a lot of filler or at least episodes that are less important than others.

Ok, it's a good review, but a time for quite a number of disagreements: 1. While 2012 Casey becomes obnoxious and useless in the last seasons, but I'd say him having explosives, electric glove and overall is much more crafty than 03 series. If it wasn't for tiresome love triangle and being second comic relief he would've been the best version of Casey out there. I still enjoy him than 2003 one to be honest. 2. Disagree, I'd say 2012 Triceratons are not only much more dangerous than 03 ones but they also seem much smarter. I mean, despite all setbacks they still completed their mission while 2003 Triceratons were easily sabotaged by a bunch of rebels which made Zanramon look stupid. Also, David Tennant is the best Fugitoid ever, no debate, 2003 Fugitoid got nothing on him. 3. Nah, 2012 Bebop, Rocksteady, Renet and Savanti Romero are literally the best versions of these characters in the franchise. At least, they were actually presented as characters instead of cheap comic reliefs. 4. idk, having Turtles deal with magic and ancient stuff is awesome, it's just season 5 of 2003 series that screwed that topic with Turtles turning into dragons and the show relying too much on Shredder instead of creating original villian(which is why 2003 series screwed up Shredder the moment they revealed the first time to be an Utrom) Which is why I'd say 2012 Shredder is overall much better than 2003 one. No amount of abs on the armor or forced voice acting from Scottie Ray wouldn't save Shredder from being an edgy boring wooden plank, 2012 Shredder was just much more interesting to watch and unlike C'hrell he actually fought, a lot, and won most of the battles instead of being defeated by water tower or delusional Triceraton.

really great video! I think you made a lot of great points even if I don’t really agree with some of them. Some of them I think just come down to personal preference, or at least how I see it. The main one for me is your issue with the farmhouse arc. To me, I thought eight episodes was fine as it came as a breather after the bombshell that was The Invasion. I think we needed to see the characters take a step back and regroup. Admittedly, some of the episodes weren’t good (Bigfoot and Frogs mainly), but Vision Quest honestly makes it all worth it, that episode is so damn good. For me, it was actually the space arc that dragged on way too long and was the only time as a kid (until the monsters arc in Season 5) where I felt super uninvested in the show. Luckily I think the Super Shredder arc is one of the best the show has to offer, and was just so insane to watch live. Again, great video man

Gonna be honest while I’m usually a fan of ur videos this video just isn’t anything and feels rushed. U realize not mentioning 90% of the content of the season and jumping around to point out things you personally find boring or bad without any connection or explanation isn’t a downfall right? Like every single point can literally be debunked in less then 1 minute, the filler argument no explanation and objectively not true, saying season 5 can only be enjoyed if u like those certain genres as if the show hasn’t dipped into all of those genres b4 and ppl can’t like different medias objectively untrue and no explanation, the show being obsessed with shipping no explanation for why that’s a problem or how it undermines the show besides from Donnie, saying aprils powers being nerfed in regular episodes is a plot hole no explanation and objectively untrue if u actually watch the show, comparisons between 03 once again no explanation and objectively untrue. Every other point in the video was again just nothing criticism calling characters and episodes bland and boring for no reason with no explanation. The only point is this video I can actually agree with is the point about Casey breaking the tone at the end but that’s pretty much it. Even if u were to say all these problems were true they still don’t compare to having 3 BACK TO BACK awful seasons like in 03 so idk why ur getting more mad in this video. U even admit to watching episodes while fast forwarding while showing one the most dark and interesting episodes of the show which is a huge problem when trying to a make a video essay lol.

Tmnt 2012 isnt in a downfall and will never die because tmnt 2012 is the birth of tmnt of our era, one of the bests, it just had to come to an end, but I have good news guys, in the end, tmnt 2012 left a big, very big window of a fully untold story, the show just ended randomly with episodes 18,19 and 20 without saying fully what the end story is, my point, someone can do a very big sequel out of it, and it will be successful

Disagree with the series having a "downfall". Season 5 may not have been my favourite, and yeah the show isn't perfect overall, but I'd hardly call it a downfall or even a seasonal rot considering its 5 year run. How tf am I supposed to take this review seriously if he ain’t bother watching the entire thing. Lastly he’s judging this show for things the 2003 series did, 2003 and 2012 TMNT were created with different objectives, the former was made to be a mostly comic accurate tv depiction of the Mirage comics. The 2012 series is meant to celebrate many various adaptations of TMNT that came before it by adapting their lore and characters into its show with a new reimagining. Honestly, I do not get why you think this was a *tragedy* because it clearly wasn't. I don't think there ever was a "downfall" of the 2003 or 2012 shows. This review and the other retrospective made by J's Review just sound like very cynical takes by people who are really just casual fans of the Ninja Turtles and are not really die hard fans of the whole franchise. I have to acknowledge that most of this show's high praise mainly comes from people who actually grew up on the 80s cartoon and are more experienced with the franchise and its history. Like Black Nerd and The Blockbuster Busters review on this series. Not to sound like I'm deflecting criticism or shutting out neounced opinions, but this review to me really sounds like he's basing this show more off of other failed or short lived cartoons of that era. Maybe I am biased, but I don't watch Fairly Odd Parents or Ben 10. Therefore, I don't contend with those points being compared to those other shows regardless if they did better or not. Unfair criticism in my book. However, I do think that there is a bigger issue when it comes to millennials and gen z trying to review their old childhood shows and not fully understanding why it had to end. What really led up to their cancellation in the first place. People take these misunderstood perceptions and completely take it out of context and it becomes the main narrative that people just blindly follow without challenging it and coming to a better conclusion. This is pretty much the case with a lot of certain action cartoons of the 90s and 2000s such as Teen Titans 2003 and the 90s Marvel cartoons like Spider-Man and the X-Men. What people call a "cliffhanger" probably isn't one in the first place and was actually how the show was supposed to end, to leave its viewers on a note where they can imagine that the heroes will always continue to save the day and go on many other great adventures without having to continuously see that over and over again. In other words, an open-ended conclusion where the view can decide and imagine the character's futures how they see fit without the show having to keep on giving an answer to those questions. Great storytelling. The same can be said for the Ninja Turtles. The 1987 series ended on a note where really we don't get to see what really happens to their original villains. They weren't killed off, only vanished away to another dimension so we the viewers can always imagine that they can still come back as if nothing happened. The 2003 show in my opinion had a very clear finale in Back To The Sewers and Turtles Forever. A lot of the loose threads from previous seasons were wrapped up perfectly well here and while many people probably didn't like the representation of the 80s Turtles here, I can still very much see where the idea and vision was heading to. This WAS supposed to be (and still IS) an actual reunion of the original classics regardless of how 4kids handled it or what they had to contend with at the time before the Nick buy out. I personally didn't really mind the love relationship between April and Donatello in this show. It's just due to the literal fact that April and Casey were teenage kids in this universe and the creators wanted to spice things up for this new iteration and fully repeat what was done before. In fact, I think this ongoing gag is probably what gives this show it's charm. I always knew eventually April was going to fall for Casey and/or have the cast go their separate ways in the future, as like what we saw in the Mutant Apocalypse. Speaking of which, I think the fifth season in this show was a much better way to end it on compared to how the previous two cartoons ended their runs. While I personally took the fifth season as still being canon to the rest of the show simply because of how Nickelodeon aired it, I think this season was more or less aimed towards older fans of the franchise as a lot of these episodes and new characters were mostly referneces to older TMNT media and were welcomed editions by long-time fans. Savanti Romero, a demon character who I thought was generic since I last saw him in the 2003 show is now a badass is the 2012 version. Hun the same thing. Hun looking like Bruce Lee here I think was an awesome idea, so I don't know what drugs AskAir is on. Usagi Yojimbo showing up in the 2012 show was also a highly anticipated episode sinced it was announced at a comic con panel. I think how they handled him in this show was also great and I think tried to be more like the comics the character oriented from. But now Yojimbo has his own spin-off series on Netflix which you can also check out. The 80s Turtles coming back in the 2012 show twice was also neat and I do understand 2003 fans wanting to see their iteration make a proper comeback in that same vein too. The 2003 TMNT returning in a new comic book and toyline I think is a good start and can be the beginning for something greater to come in the near future. So bottom line: I generally don't agree with the consensus being made in this video. I love all things TMNT, including the bad ones. Seeing this show for the first time at a friend's house was what brought me back into watching Ninja Turtles since watching the 4kids show when I was little and becoming the TMNT fan that I am today. The fact that this show was also in cg animation made it completely fresh and different to what came before. This show alongside Teen Titans Go! and Five Nights at Freddy's were my escapism during my rough middle school years. I'll leave off by saying that at least in my opinion, the 2012 Ninja Turtles and The Legend of Korra were one of the best highlights of Nickelodeon animation in the 2010s. I'm eternally grateful for that.

In my opinion, seasons 1 to 3 was when this show was at its peak. Season for was okay, but it had it's unessasary filled episodes (mostly with the Space saga) rushed plots, characters that were never explored as much (For ex; Shinigami and Alopex), rushed plot points, etc. Season 5 is when the show really went downhill. Most of the episodes were either nonsensical filler and things that should even be added. But the Lone Rat and Cubs episode was good though. And Bebop and Rocksteady's redemption at the end of season 5 came out of nowhere and they're better off as villains.

I love that most of the comments section are defending the shit out of TMNT 2012 saying that it didn't have a downfall. Hate to break it to you but the show did have a downfall. The show should've ended after season 4, season 5 wasn't necessary, season 5 was just mostly filler. It felt like they ran out of ideas, or they didn't know what to do with the characters. Also, there was a lot of plot holes and forgotten storylines which was a major flaw about the show that no one mentions at all. I won't hold the writers for TMNT 2012 downfall that much considering the fact that shows from Nick, we all know Nick and how they do a lot of their shows dirty. Still a great show and W video A.S.K Air.
@ashesGeekАй бұрын
Well, I kinda agree and disagree. Yes, season 5 was the downfall compared to season 4 considering show's creator Ciro Nieli wanted season 4 to be the finale, but Nickelodeon asked him for one more season so he decided to make it a reference to Mirage comics Tales of TMNT. I wouldn't say they ran out of ideas: origin story about Splinter and the Turtles, Shredder's resurrection, Dregg invading Earth, Usagi story, Halloween story with Savanti Romero, alternative Mad Max world just for fun. 2012 crew definitely had a lot of ideas which they managed to deliver despite the story has ended. If anything, it was much better situation than 2003 series where Peter Laird and Lloyd Goldfine had to make everything family friendly to keep the show floating. And I know some people just assume this evil 4kids helps hellspawn is responsible for season 5, 6 and 7, but Peter Laird was heavily involved and he wrote about liking working on it in his blog. So, even if TMNT 2012 stepped up from its peak it still didn't break the bottom as hard as 2003 series. Besides, 2012 show was so good at balancing its popularity that it overshadowed Legend of Korra which already suffered from Nickelodeon's messy production conditions.

Also the final episode of the turtles of 2012 tmnt when they finally ended it in my opinion they did them dirty it could of been a different ending like they figure out how to turn everything kn earth back to normal because there was a character they interacted with that wa sfrom the future so how can there be human on earth in the future if there is only mutant, unless she was part alien or something, i will have to rewatch the the show again to better understand it more.
