The suspense of getting that first window out! ZIP tape is the greatest stuff, pressure activated, after putting up a zip system I now won’t be without it. Expensive but worth it.

I have been waiting 3 years to insulate under my home here in Gatlinburg. I am finally starting to feel healthy enough to start. It's been a long and hard road to get back to some semblance of reasonable health after several bouts of sepsis. But I do believe that I am almost there. Also waiting for this recent amputation to completely heal as well. So much work to do just to sell this home and hopefully realize my dream of building my own home.
@LifeontheMoose7 сағат бұрын
Keep on that healing road and make that dream happen, one day at a time. 🙏🙏

Nice to see the Joshua "T" in the background in many of those shots. Saw your finger wrap very early in the video. I used 2 full tubes of that caulking so far. Definite learning curve to not get it all over me. I guess I'm better at welding. Carport walling is going well on the slab with the block foundation that sank and moved away from the wooden floor part of the garage. I framed in the west wall today, which is actually a trapezoid. I had to measure, number, and cut all the studs to fit the tilted slab to the truss. The top sill tapped in under the truss the whole length of the sill today. Guess I measured it right. Trapezoid wall is out about 1 3/4" vertically and maybe 1" horizontally. But my wall corners are all square and level.
@LifeontheMoose7 сағат бұрын
Thanks! Hey good measuring! I find wetting my finger makes for a nice, smooth bead.

Patrick, Years ago, we used to put an insulated patio door glass unit in a fixed frame (with flanges) when we wanted a tall fixed window. The benefit is that it was tempered glass, but also cheap as it's mass produced. The glass size was 34" x 76" (half of a sliding 6' patio door.) I wonder if your two old windows have tempered glass....

It’s Friday. Trying to get my bearings on the bunkhouse, is it just below the Spur cabin? In several of your shots, I could see the “T” or cross above it which you can see from the Spur cabin. Anther great post. The steak fajita lunch looked wonderful and more exciting than the walnut salad with cottage cheese…..thanks for not showing that! 😂 You’re getting popular. There must have been 6 commercials for this post. Good for you. 🎉
@LifeontheMoose7 сағат бұрын
The bunkhouse sits below what I call the cabin…the garage looking thing I stay in. Those, the barn, the woodshed, and the ridge cabin are all on Red Moose Ranch. The Spur property sits about 3 miles away. Sometimes the view shots I use in “B-roll” doesn’t correspond with the location of that video…if that makes sense!

Those old widows that had the plastic bead that helped keep the panes in place were problems waiting to happen. The sun would toast the beading and eventually it start cracking and coming apart on little chips. Ay yay yay!

I know that sigh around the 7-min mark, I do it a lot myself. We do not have the same instal as you do for your windows as ours fit into the wall not onto it. We usually do not use metal frames unless they have an insulation gap as the metal frames usually allow heat to transfer from outside to inside, but we do have a lot of wooden framed windows too, as wood is a natural insulator. It can be seen here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jprOiJSspdp1hbc&ab_channel=EurocellPVCU
