I have a 1200 sq ft garage that's cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Our climate here is mild by standards ( bay area Calif) but it gets cold enough to make the garage uncomfortable. I'm planning on putting in a heating system. But can't do it before the rafters are insulated. I like the open rafter look, just wondering what to cover the insulation with so that it doesn't take away from the look. Thanks

What did you use to heat the cabin with? Was the wood-burning stove or did you use electric and how much does the electric run to the cabin cost yet? Thank you.
@erikowren789420 сағат бұрын
Patrick you might try the permachink )used for log cabins normally) to fill that massive checks in. Great work. 😊
@erikowren789422 сағат бұрын
Maybe a tube of permachink would fill the large checks in the beam.

Patrick, you and your family have a great spot there. 😊. Great work thanks for sharing. You could also use a piece of slate on the bottom of the post to prevent end rot. Also a mix of bees wax and poly seals the ends nice. 👍🏻

The charcoal filter sure helps with the organic fumes, but sucking rubber is never fun when using a negative pressure resistor.

Hi, I just watched a couple of your videos. Absolutely love! Question? Where is your location and do you rent them out?

Is there a heat source? I’ll take exactly that cabinet but exactly 10x bigger. That place is so nice.

Man I feel like you did an amazing build, I saw a few things I was concerned about, but everything was addressed. My only concern is your breathing of the roof. I understand you have no humidity. My experience is southern Texas and South Florida. So, please forgive that concern....Rock on

I laughed out loud when you said, "Things get mossy and wet here all the time, so..." Having moved to the Olympic Peninsula more than seven years ago, I am still astonished that it's so wet that moss will grow on ANYTHING around here, even on ASPHALT! [Nothing should grow on asphalt, imo. It just doesn't seem natural to me. 😣]

Rodents, such as mice and rats, are known for their ability to gnaw and chew through various materials, including wood products like OSB (Oriented Strand Board) and plywood. # OSB Rodents can easily chew through OSB, as it is a engineered wood product made from strands of wood pressed together with adhesive. The strands can be easily separated by rodents, allowing them to create holes and tunnels. # Plywood Plywood is a bit more challenging for rodents to chew through, as it is made from layers of wood veneer pressed together. However, determined rodents can still gnaw through plywood, especially if it is not properly sealed or if there are existing gaps or weaknesses. # Factors influencing rodent damage The extent of rodent damage to OSB or plywood depends on various factors, including: 1. *Type of rodent*: Larger rodents like rats can cause more damage than smaller mice. 2. *Material quality*: Lower-quality OSB or plywood may be more susceptible to rodent damage. 3. *Moisture*: Rodents are more likely to target damp or wet areas, as they prefer humid environments. 4. *Food availability*: Rodents may be more motivated to chew through materials if they are seeking food or shelter. # Prevention and protection To prevent rodent damage to OSB or plywood, consider the following: 1. *Seal gaps and holes*: Caulk or seal any gaps or holes in the material. 2. *Use rodent-resistant materials*: Consider using materials like hardware cloth or metal flashing to cover vulnerable areas. 3. *Keep the area clean*: Regularly clean up debris and clutter, which can attract rodents. 4. *Install rodent deterrents*: Use ultrasonic repellent devices or other deterrents to discourage rodents from the area.

Man I like how you do things. I've owned this little pice for eleven years now. I've built 2 small outbuildings very inexpensively but now they need to be redon . At the time I had very little money and a was done sub par.but now I've been collecting like you and ready to build some things that will last. I just cleared a little building spot.

Har du planterat nya träd efter branden ?
@LifeontheMoose3 күн бұрын
Yes! We planted 200 ponderosa pines and 100 aspens. I believe about 40 pines and 1 aspen survived. But hundreds of natural seedlings!

Samla vattnet i tunnor 🙂
