The Downside of Owning a 90's Project Car

Here in Illinois, emission tests are required annually or bi annually depending on the year of the car. If the car has a check engine light, it will most likely fail. So I needed to fix my 90's project car in order to pass emissions, but a small task turned into an entire video haha

I highly recommend aerokroil penetrant for our rusty Midwest cars. Stuff works wonders. Also when you’re taking bolts off loosen and then tighten again, treat it like you’re tapping threads. Far less likely to snap bolt heads off!

All the obd2 scanners I've used have an option to clear the codes. No need to disconnect the battery
@AwakenedR6
@AwakenedR6 Жыл бұрын
Just a tip for check engine lights, dont disconnect the battery. It resets all of the monitors making it to where you cant get inspected until they are set (evap, o2, o2 heater, misfire, and a couple others). Instead just drive the car around for 30 miles or so and the check engine light should clear itself, along with the pending codes. Evap monitors can take several days to set so thats why inspection tells you to drive the car for multiple days after you disconnect the battery. Also you should invest in a small scanner, theres a small autel one on amazon that does i/m monitors for like 30$

There's actually a drive cycle for the Integra ... From Cali did a b20v in my DC2 when smog came around I put the stock ECU and it was something like 45mph for 2 to 3 miles .. passed with flying colors

Not to laugh but... this is like deja vu of anytime I try to pull anything I haven't touched before off my S13! I have snapped sooo many bolts off that thing... doesn't matter how much I soak them in pb blaster or how gently I try to coax them out... they generally snap off anyway... Rust has become my arch nemesis. Now the dipstick tube coming off... that was funny! Shout out to Stratford Square Mall!

it's always the easy jobs that turn into the worst jobs, I almost had a huge job putting a new valve cover on my Mustang (some idiot before I got it overtorqued one of the ignition coil bolts, which cracked the mount it screwed into) they had overtorqued every single bolt on that valve cover, one snapped off in the head, thankfully the new valve cover was for a newer model year, my car is a 2006, Ford revised the valve cover in 2008 to use less bolts, but it works on older ones too, thankfully the bolt that snapped was one of the ones that didn't exist on the new valve cover, so if you look at my engine close enough you can still see what's left of the bolt stuck in the head because if there's no point to drill it out I'm not drilling it out
