The Dragon in Action! - Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC Heroes of the Inner Sphere Playthrough EP 12

Welcome to Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Heroes of the Inner Sphere" Playthrough. In this video I will show you the gameplay of a full missions as well as the MechLab where you customize your Battlemechs. Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries is a game about stompy Mech action. You take command of a mercenary company and try to grow your income, salvage Mechs and hire Mechwarriors. The game includes a campaign with a vast storyline.
The gameplay is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

Yes you'll be traded, yes they'll fuck with your shit, but that's why you play completely neutral and make sure it's known (by having a bigger gun, or 4 atlases).

@@orangedream267 Book "Mercenary's Star" engineers from the Grey Death Legion are captured and taken to be used by the Draconis Combine for slave labor. They are never seen from again in the series. Deff, weren't getting paid at that point. The books also make several points of reference of human labor being cheep and easily replaceable. So much so that some militaries don't even count the cost in human lives only equipment lost.

As mentioned in comment on an earlier video this series: never played any of the MW games before. MW5 this week is my first foray into the franchise. HUGELY enjoying the game, and also hugely enjoying this series. Learning a lot...but even more importantly, just plain fun to watch. Gotta say that you as a youtuber/streamer have an exceptionally good blend of skill, experience/knowledge, but also just sheer fun and positivity.

I started my own YT playthrough, and imposing even half of the daily upload schedule Bara runs added a level of stress that I’ve never experienced when editing a video. Oh yeah, Chargers.. First time I saw them i was panicking, Asault mech against my medium.. then i saw those Small lasers and had to laugh ;) But watch ingame news, Bara. There will be refit and then they stop being such meme. BTW it seems like you forgot few things from your MW5 play year ago: - putting mech to cold storage strips it of all equipment for free and you can use that equipment immediately. I.e. - buy that Crab, put it in storage, seel it from storage. - Tier 0 weapon are really garbage. Too much heat, lower damage then base model, slower rate of fire. I like PPC and they are not that bad regarding rate of fire. Now Rifles, they are never ready when i think they should be :) Oh and watch closely cantina jobs - from them i allready got 2x tier 4 gauses + ammo, several tier 5 weapon systems.. they are great.

I accidentally stored some 100+ alpha dude (full T5 King 🦀 or Highlander Hero, dunno) that was kitted out with the right upgrades for some insane pinpoint damage. That kinda sucked but you can reload the game. Well, these Elite pilots shrugged it off anyway. You're better off going with SRM+ArtIV and fry cockpits instantly at this point.

Personally, one of my new Hero 'Mechs that I actually like is the Hero Archer (Agincourt, which like the Dragon Baradul is using here, is a reward from a Quest chain [specifically, from the "Bow and Arrow" missions]), as I actually turned it into a close-range murder-machine by swapping out all of the LRMs for SRMs (in total it can fire 36 SRMs simultaneously, as it has 4 SRM6-STs & 2 SRM4-STs, and then when the SRMs aren't needed it has 4 MP Lasers as backup weapons). The main weakness of that particular build is it's heat generation, but it has absurd DPS output (it's DPS stat is at about 146!!!!). Anything that gets hit by my Agincourt's SRMs is going to have a very bad day. :P

That is the reason I like to keep a Kintaro around ... even when going heavy. The only problem is: it draws aggro like crazy, which in the right circumstances allow very fast training in damage and heat mitigation skills. Regarding fast killing: I learned to like a Marauder II (I use two top-tier PPCs in the arms and an ER PPC on the shoulder). The exact opposite statistic-wise to your build, having laughable DPS for an assault. On paper. But with proper aiming? A murder machine with fast coring and headshots from a good distance. I don´t go for legs anymore. It nearly always runs as cold as ice ... I need four or five alpha strikes in a row to even get a warning. Icing on the cake: no ammo buy range far beyond 1.000. Funny when you start demolition missions from half a map away and snipe everyone coming after you one-by-one with the whole lance. Most epic? Mid-jump headhot-instakill for a BattleMaster from 700 meters.

I've had good luck with high tier machine guns. I've generally found the combat being at much closer ranges than say battletech, a high tier machine gun will have around 180-200m range and do ok dps for the tonnage. Walking up to a mech, opening them up with SRMs and then machine gunning the internals works well.

I like the ac20 on the hero dragon. It makes an excellent flanker putting ac20s into the backs of mechs . I found the default loadout works extremely well midgame on an AI character.

Running 4 TBolts is a blast! With a speed upgrade, you can run fast and hit fast. That glowing happens on almost all the mechs when I hit them with missiles.

Um....he needs to know to just put the mech in cold storage and BAM instant strip, no muss no fuss. Saves a TON of time! Oh and also...you should ALWAYS put a point into damage insurance down the road, you get at least 400k, and let's face it if your doing missions at the level you should be then that will pay you more in the long run than another point in the base pay or even salvage.

There is exploit that if you move the equiped mech to cold storage you dont loose money and time removing the items. Just swap it back and forth and you can sell it. Works great in conflict zones ;x

There's a Hero Zeus that's like a grown-up version of this Dragon, except it swaps out the Large Ballistic for a Medium and the Large Missile for FOUR Mediums. Load an LB-X, four SRM4s, and two Medium Lasers on it (it CAN take a Large, but tonnage limits), kick in the MASC, and if you get behind ANYONE even all the way up to an Atlas or a MAD II, your alpha strike is like a delete button. Sure, your only weapon with decent range is the LB-X, but you've got the speed to get up close FAST and the armour to tank the odd hit on the way in. If you want more damage, the Heavy Rifle is a near straight swap with the LB-X tonnage wise, though less so heat wise and obviously with a MUCH slower fire rate, but you can sprint on out of there while it's cycling and come back for another go.

lol He didn't even realize that all they had were Short Burst S Lasers, so he had them out-ranged from the get-go. Now, if it was one of the Charger variants that can mount weapons other than S Lasers, then yes, caution would have been understandable, but the stock version of the original Charger? That thing is a joke. Frankly, I'm amazed anyone even bothers using that variant of the Charger in the first place, seems like what you'd stick someone in if you actually *wanted* them to die. :P If it was something like the Hero Archer (Agincourt) outfitted with just MP Lasers & SRMs, then I could understand being cautious (Agincourt can mount a total of 4 SRM6s, and 2 SRM4s, as well as up to 4 M Lasers....albeit at the cost of being extremely inefficient at managing it's own heat, but in exchange it can have an absurdly high DPS output of around 146!).

If melee was a thing, even a stock charger would be dangerous. A fast assault mech built to punch with lasers for support. In this game it's totally a meme. First time I saw them (there were 3 together during a mission) I hit them with an air strike. When they all shook it off with orange and yellow damage I was worried until I saw the loadout. I use rifles for most of my AI lancemates. They seem to do a lot more damage with them. 2xMR+2xLR Jager and 2xHR Rifle have been holding up good. The solid slug LBX is pretty sweet, the pellet version doesn't hold up as well since generally you aren't stripping mechs like in MWO.

IIRC, the devs have outright stated that to them, Clans are "low-hanging fruit" (as in, they know adding the Clans would be extremely likely to sell quite well as either DLC for MW5, or an incentive to buy MW6 if/when it ever comes out), so the Clan Invasion will most likely either be the final DLC for MW5 or it will be part of MW6.

I doubt it. Maybe for a full on sequel or stand alone game. The base is done now, so instead of developing the engine, they can focus on missions. I'd kill for a game that ends at Tukayyid. We haven't had a clan invasion game yet.

You should really try the SB Lasers out. I actually prefer them over the Chem Lasers for heat management...and you never run out of ammo.

Laser - Short burst. Comparable range and better heat management and cycle time. But you lose damage. A regular med laser does 5 dmg, a med laser sb does 3.5. All lasers do their damage over time and require you to hold your crosshair on target to deal full damage. SB lasers have a shorter beam time as well, so if you suck at maintaining your crosshair, or use twitchy mechs, SBs might mean you put more of that 3.5 damage where you want it compared to a 5laser beam that skirts over multiple panels.

I'm a fan of the LL-SB myself, burn time shorter than ML and still do enough damage to get the job done, I have to say I was quite impressed with Bara's use of Chem though, I had immediately dismissed them since they do use ammo, but it doesn't look like it's hard to get more than enough ammo anyway and the pinpoint alpha he does with that black knight is quite nice.

My go-to TDR. This thing knocks out annoying enemies from long range and rips through the legs of anything that gets close. Stock mechs always skip leg day. ER PPC -tanks, fliers and mech targets at range Once they get closer, use the other weapons: 3 SB Mediums -reliable low heat damage SRM Stream 6 + SRM Stream 4- burst damage 2 MG - damage over time, even when hot.

Why the stream on the SRM? I'm curious because it just requires more face time and at the ranges they have the spread is barely a problem anyway with regular SRM?

@@Dorkrust Good question. This may be a playstyle preference. I like how the lasers and streams track with the cursor during firing. The lasers help indicate where the missiles will hit. I aim for the edge of the hit box and the lasers hit the leading edge while the missiles hit within the trailing edge. Legs fall off. Of course, I hold down the MG button when in range. This particular build is meant to rip through fast lights. With full armor, I usually don't get structural damage against lights. For heavier mechs, I keep my lance at range and use the ER PPC + focus fire from my lance's ranged weapons. With a SN PPC or LBX build, I'd pair it with regular SRMs for burst/twist/burst playstyle. The missiles hit a little better for me than SRMs for legging lights. I find regular SRMs hit like a shotgun. Streams hit with a bit of control.

@@bradykirk9932 Ahh your firing the stream and lasers at the same time so the face time on the stream isn't a problem, I tend to run a little hot on most of my srm builds so once I start dumping chain fire srm into the target I am balancing critical heat and can't be firing any lasers lol. Yeah streams are better at taking out legs for sure, I tend to just core the target with srm, which while it costs me money on the rebuild, makes the mech cheaper on the salvage table :P

I happened to get an Assassin, which is a beast in battle. Unfortunately, he is VERY slow. Watching your video, I ask myself if it would make sense to mount a MASC on it? I mean, the worst part about the slow mech is getting from waypoint to waypoint, which MASC could make much easier. In battle though, I would not necessarily need it. What do you think?

I think Canonically that PPC rof is accurate. I think they fire to fast, and too often in MWO.

You can add 2 double HS in the engine of the dragon. Instead of the 2 singles. You would save 2 tons like that

Not only that, heat sinks in the engine are immune to being critted barring the mech being cored out. So the engine is the safest place to keep valuable DHS.

I wish there was a mod that made your reticle much larger as Mechwarrior 4 mercenaries had. that always felt better to me. I am also not a fan of how accurate your weapons are in mwo and this game since it doesn't reflect the tabletop.

I don't think I've had my AI ever take aggro for me even if I gave them AC20s or 4 SRM4s to do burst damage. It's why I always have to pilot the beefiest mech.

I really hope they fix that stutter for nvidia cards...over here on the AMD side of the fence we still got our 'z fighting' issues but that stutter would drive me up the wall lol. With some mechs the AI just does not play well...hunchback has good front armor...but the rear is soft...and the AI don't torso twist fast enough under fire to make it viable longer term in the game...separate from friendly fire. Wolverine 'pilots' always seem pretty good though lol.

Is it possible to move the camera to the other side ? At the moment most of the menu is not visible , on the right it shouldn't anything. Your face is fine , just a bit in the way

You don't need to strip a mech in the mechlab, just drop it in cold storage and it will move everything into your inventory.
