My last playthrough was Elf Mage, and I got the reroll armour saves ability on my heavy cavalry in the second node. They were brutal after that, hardly ever losing a model.

One MAJOR gripe with Sovl is that no matter who goes first, I'm ALWAYS deploying BEFORE the computer. It really would be nice if the computer deployed first some of the time, just so I could occasionally respond to their deployment. It's very tiring that it's ALWAYS the other way around.

@@BauthorFowler I don't know if the computer is actually deploying with knowledge of your deployment. I think it's just hidden for both and it is revealed at the same time. And even if the computer would know your deployment they don't seem to do anything with the information. For example, if you deploy in a corner they still put infantry on the opposite side so they have to walk across the entire map and place artillery on the other side of a big obstruction so it can't shoot.

Elf Mage is probably best base for shooty army. If you can fish out 2x Bolt Throwers at the start you are gonna have insane shooty army after recruiting few heavy hitters to deal with enemy fast moving units. Bolt throwers can also get you a lot of money since they are 4 units instead of 2 and it hardly matters in campaign if they lose wounds.

Absolutely, I had really underestimated Divine favor because I had only really used it in melee combat focused armies where it is fine but not great, but shooting is where it is at. I can see getting a lot of early shooting with him can be absolutely nuts.

@@lazygrouse I don't know...There does seem to be some sort of weight to your units for enemy deployment. I don't think I have ever seen the enemy place archers on the same side as player cavalry and feel like the enemy always places their monster units on the same side as player archers more often than not.

I like him as Malfoys dad, he can call himself whatever he wants, but that is his name to me. Right I forgot he was also Legolas dad. Still a pompous prick though.

@@GTrevise Haven't seen the patriot in ages, fun movie, but don't remember any characters other than Mel Gibson running around with an axe. He does do badguys really well.

Did the elves also get an art update? Those images look new?

I don't know. It came in the same update as the Dark Elves, but I don't know it they made art for the knights as well. I don't think they did but I can't say for sure.
