I like how this scene is a parallel to the last time Soren fought a dragon in season 2. In season 2 he prioritized fighting the dragon over protecting the people, but in this attack, he prioritized protecting the people over fighting the dragon.

TBF as evil as Viren was he had probably the most Character growth through out the whole show. Plus he even made up for everything by sacrificing himself instead of his son. Though it shows Viren was not some monster he was manipulated and set down a wrong path which he seen and chose to Change where as his Daughter Claudia I see no hope for.

Remember he said something like only a parent should hurt to protect their children, not the other way around? (I don’t remember exactly). He meant it. ❤️ Man, this season was way quite emotional/powerful🥲😭 I remember as soon as it cut from this scene and showed the bloody blade I IMMEDIATELY was like “fuck, Viren stabbed himself.” I didn’t consider for a second that he took Soren’s heart even though they tried really hard to make it look like he did. I knew he wouldn’t hurt Soren. Never again. Truly iconic tbh.

The thing about Soren for me was I didn't like his character that much mainly because of the amount of times he bullied Callum and was like a little puppy to Viren that does what he's told. As many times as he failed, I'm glad he did. In season 3 and moving forward I began to love seeing this side of Soren. He's nothing like Viren and Claudia, and not to be dark or mean but even if Viren died and Claudia is losing her soul I still don't like them. Soren's character has progressed a lot and I love the difference he's made to joining Team Zym

I know this is may be a unpopular opinion. But i hate what what Soren did here. Viren is a villain no doubt, but he always does it for the good of others whatever it takes. Even though Soren tries to show he is better than his father, here he is showing a behavior similar to Viren. He was willing to do whatever it takes to save the people, even sacrificing himself and his father. I know this was a defining moment for Viren, but he allowed him to die in his stead. And Soren resorted to dark magic like Viren did. So for me I just see Soren as a hypocrite. He acts he is better, but when push comes to shove he will resort to drastic measures like Viren did.

Honestly given the situation Soren was in it was the most reasonable thing he could do. The dragon wanted to kill everyone within the castle and even if they did evacuate the castle the dragon would still chase them. Dark magic was the only option, one life or two for everyone else that's a good deal in my book.

@jakebrook That's what I'm saying. In a perfect world there shouldn't be sacrifices, but here Soren has chosen the lesser of evil. So even if he has to commit something evil he will still do it.
