Judging by his question and mourning he didn’t even realize he killed her. His mate tried to save sun fire elves who got caught in the conflict and was buried by a cave in where she was sheltering the rescued elves. Even as a prince, Sol still had the prejudices that ultimately resulted in his exile and demise, willing to rat Leola out, resulting in her death and her father's vengeance. I guess im in the minority. Sense it was stated that Sol was only a Prince when he told (likely the Dragon King) what he saw. For all we know, Sol could've been as young or younger than Zim. He may have simply seen something odd and told someone. Sol made his own mistakes later in life. All his own choices. He's far from innocent. But just as Aaravos is somewhat understandable this season, i felt a bit more understanding of Sol. Dude put upholding the law ans protecting his kin (elves and dragons) above all else. That doesn't in any way excuse his warmongering and violent nature!!! But i can't deny that i felt pitty for him. Discovering all of this death war ans suffering is because of something you did when you were potentially a child, and then being told you were a puppet of your enemy, and that you killed your own mate in a blind rage and cant even remember? Yeah, i felt sorry for him. I felt sorry for Viren ans Aaravos and Claudia too, doesnt excuse their actions. But damn near every villian in this story is a tragic one.

The more I look into this scene, the more pity I feel for Sol Regem. The first couple of times, I basically had the same sneering mindset as Aaravos. Frankly, Sol Regem deserved what he got. I still stand by that but, similar to how I stand by Azula deserving what she got but I feel sorry for her anyway, I can feel some pity for him now. You brought up a good point. If Anak Arow was only Zym's age, he had no idea what he was doing. The Star Touched Elves didn't even bother to bring him to Leola's trial, so we don't know what his motive was. We can infer due to his racism towards humans later in life that he thought Leola shouldn't be interacting with them but he couldn't have known how the Star Touched Elves would react. Heck, this might even be why Sol Regem abandoned his original name and was so enraged that Aaravos used it. He probably didn't intend for Leola to die and if he ever found out that he got a child MURDERED for no reason at all, no wonder he'd want to distance himself. But, being Sol Regem, he doesn't want to take a look at himself and try to become a better person. His whole deal is that, being a hypocritical narcissist, he projects his problems onto everybody else, most notable through his racism towards humans. Hell, if Sol Regem had swallowed his pride and simply APPOLOGISED to Aaravos and said that he never intended to get his daughter killed, Aaravos would just be focussed on the Star Touched Elves. He'd see Sol Regem as a stupid and careless but not malicious bystander. And then we get to the reveal of Aithne Solaire. Granted, I think the dialogue was sloppy here but the idea behind it was sound and Erik Dellums and Adrian Hough are such great voice actors that they managed to save lines that were, on paper, very clumsy. The idea that Sol Regem straight up pulled an Anakin Skywalker and killed Aithne Solaire through rage, foolishness and arrogance adds a tragic element. I also like his reaction. He doesn't scream, he doesn't protest, he just softly whispers "no" and moans like a creature who's lost the will to keep fighting before summoning one final burst of strength. The fact that this was the last thing Sol Regem heard before he died was unfathomably cruel.

And that elf dares to further the insult by calling him by his name as if they were equals. It all comes down to pride and arrogance. At least that’s my interpretation.

Anak Arow was his “younger name”, while he was the prince. I take it that Aaravos calling him that instead of “Sol Regem” is sort of an indirect way of calling him “little boy”. It’s like calling someone their childhood nickname but in an insulting manner, and reminding Sol Regem that Aaravos is the only being in Xadia old enough to remember him as a prince. Basically saying “I knew you as a child before everyone else started calling you the Sun King”. It’s also like calling a distinguished official by their childhood nickname rather than “doctor or president” or something like that, basically belittling their reputation and refusing to call them by their official title. And also the idea that Sol looked down on Aaravos is ironic considering Aaravos is far more powerful than Sol Regem could ever hope to be🤣
@IlijaNenadović2 ай бұрын
I hope we get a flashback of Lunas, Aditis and Aitnas deaths. You know the most painful, humiliating and terrible truth here? Aaravos wasn't the 1 who destroyed Sols mate, face, reputation, memory and legacy. Sol Regem was the 1 who did it here. From Ziard to this moment, he kept falling for Aaravoses tricks, biting his baits, playing at his melody. Like a puppet burning itself. Of all Aaravos tricked and used, he was the easiest. And now he dies at the final resting place of human heroes, among their statues, in front of their faces, as a tribute to them, by immolating his own lungs. 2 52 Everytime someone says sth like that, it is a mockery of a death so pathetic. This shows the contrast between Harrow and Aaravos. Harrow was fully aware Sarai wouldn't condone his vengence on Avizandum and the consequences of such an act, but he simply didn't have the strenght to let go of his hate when the opportunity arose to sate it. Still he found no joy in watching Avizandums slow, ignominious and agonizing end. Then there is Aaravos, who fully dedicated every once of his being to revenge, used it to drive him and keep himself together all these long years. He fully indulged, enjoyed and reveled in these short moments he planned, worked and waited for over 1000y. The moment all his labours came to fruition.
