Claudia is, at this point, a tragic villain. She's being led down a dark path by someone she loves, and she dare not listen to her doubts about the path because the alternatives are too painful for her to consider. I rather expect her to pull a Darth Vader style "redemption = death", or perhaps she finally reaches a breaking point and defies her father only for him (or Aaravos) to kill her.
@sheikranl39495 жыл бұрын
@@qawamity I don't think that will happen. I think that Viren sees his wrongs and tries to protect Claudia, as shown by his terrified face when he sees Claudia revived him, something he even did not want to do for his friend Harrow. I think that Viren will die to give her a chance to flee. When she joins up with Callum, I think she may have been able to connect with the sun-arcanum, seeing that she carried the source of power for the sun-elves so long with her.

I think at the end of the series she'll take her first step towards redemption. Like a Darth Vader moment, but without her subsequent death. @jbcatz55 жыл бұрын
The conversation he has with Callum, apologising for antagonising the prince and explaining his envy at the relationship between Harrow and Callum that he wanted between himself and Viren is a huge moment for Soren. It feels like the first time he’s said it out loud, and he’s letting go of a massive load. Between that and disowning his own father, very understandable given Viren’s atrocities, Soren is taking his fate into his own hands instead of it being dictated by a validation he’s never going to get. If this is all we’re getting, and I hope it’s not, it’s still a strong character arc and one easily applicable to those thinking their worth is based on how a parent approves of them.
@el_guapo13185 жыл бұрын
I definitely liked his arc, but anyone who had been paying attention to the characterizations of Soren and Claudia could even at the beginning of Season 1 correctly predict that she would be the one to turn to evil whereas he would be the one to be with the heroes. It was made obvious in the first episode that, although cocky, he was a genuinely nice guy who would do the right thing and help others. On the other hand, it established in that same episode that Claudia doesn't see anything morally wrong at all with taking the lives of innocent creatures if it means gaining power, which is normally what villains do in any story, film, video game, or any other form of media. So I wasn't surprised at all with how his and Claudia's arcs ended in season 3. But it did leave me satisfied to see our Best Bro save some dragons instead of hurting (and then getting hurt by) them.

I love how the showrunners designed his armor to look like football pads to subconsciously link him with the "dumb jock" stereotype. It immediately made many of us 80s-90s kids think "bully" or "jerk" when we look at him, and did a lot of the heavy lifting on showing us who Soren 'appears to be' at a glance. So when we slowly learn more about him, that armor slowly shifts from 'dumb jock pads' to the 'Shining Armor of an Honorable Knight' worthy of our respect... and make no mistake, he definitely has our respect now!

Although I’m mad at Claudia for her choices, I also feel bad for her. She already had to choose between her family before and lost her mom. And now that she lost Soren she’s more broken than ever before. And it’s definitely going to get worse now that she sided with Viren (even if he said she wasn’t an asset). I hope she’ll get the redemption arch she needs so she can rebuild the relationship between her and Soren, and possibly be forgiven by Ezran, Callum, and hopefully Rayla.
@brandonjones58795 жыл бұрын
But that's the thing she doesn't choose. Even with her mom, Soren chose and her mom instructed her to go with Soren. And when Soren left, Claudia decided to throw a temper tantrum than actually make a decision. Anytime she has to make a real decision she closes up and doesn't decide. Not to mention she ignores things that should be a red light but since her dad has handled her so well, she accepts everything he does. It's funny people think she's going to get a redemption. Especially since all evidence is pointing to her being Aavaros' new protege.

Soren's obviously already played a huge role in how things have turned out for Ezran & Zym and the others so far (breaking Ezran out of jail and sneaking him out to safety, risking his life to reach the Storm Spire in time to warn everyone of the approaching army, etc.), but I'd really, really love to see Viren's (and I suppose by extension, Aaravos') defeat be at least partially a direct result of Soren's actions. Both Viren and Aaravos don't concern themselves with Soren at all (Viren may not like calling Claudia an asset but he clearly USES her as one) and ultimately, it doesn't seem to matter to them whether he lives or dies, let alone what he does with his life. Aaravos warns Viren about losing Claudia if he tells the truth, but doesn't say a word about losing Soren if he lies. Viren barely even pretends to care that Soren didn't die, and when he does it's probably for the sake of keeping Claudia on his side. I'd love to see their disregard for him and everything he has to offer come back to bite them in the end, even more so than it already has. I never thought I'd love Soren this much in the first two seasons, but boy did season 3 really bring me around. I'm so proud of this sweet boy and how much he's done. Now I just have to hope Claudia can learn to face reality, too, and escape Viren's influence like her brother.

Soren and Steve Harrington are absolute *Redemption Bros!* I love it! First knew how much I liked Soren when he started doing poetry in bed after he was paralyzed. That really showed what a good person he truly was, and was ready and willing to accept responsibility for his actions. He talked about not wanting to hurt the kids before, but still tried to... but when shit got real, and faced with life long suffering and immobility, he faced it like a real man and a badass and he accepted the punishment for what he tried to do. Soren is a good dude... and now he has a black and gold dragon pal! Haha

Where you touch on that he doesn't compromise who he is, I think thats meant to be the whole point, I wouldnt even call what Soren has been on a true redemption arc. I love how this show (and Soren in particular) subtly tackled some pretty weighty themes like narcissistic parents, gaslighting, and deprogramming. What makes me want to root for Soren is how he WAS able to deprogram despite the gaslighting from Virin, the feeling of being the 'dumb' one, and the lack of support from anyone around him. That sort of situation is a reality for many, and trusting their own experiences and discernment enough to reject their parent's toxicity may be the hardest thing some of them ever have to do. And sadly many never do. To make this digestible for a young audience is exceptional.

Another character dynamic like this is in the Rangers Apprentice books. The main characters, Will the Ranger, and Horace, a knight apprentice, aren't as silly or goofy, but are still the same dynamic. Will is a stealthy archer who can come up with crazy plans and plots to shift the odds in the hero's favor and is capable of adapting those plans on the fly, and Horace usually ends up as the muscle. However, Horace demonstrates a level of insight and tactical knowledge to rival most rangers. He grounds Will and makes his plans happen, just as Soren was Claudia's anchor

I honestly think that the introduction of the characters in season 1 is kinda underrated. I mean Soren is introduced with Callum who feels insecure and inadequate because he feels that he can't live up to his father's expectation in the role he is given. And Soren is just like him and the reason for their insecurities is shown right there Callum because he is bad at the big muscly battle prince stuff and Soren because he IS good at the big muscly battle sword fight and whereas Harrow obviously loves and appreciates his step son for who he is Viren often dismisses and looks down on his son because of who he is. They are similar yet a great contrast to one another and oh my god the more I look back on season 1 the more I feel reaffirmed in the sentiment that the writers definitely knew what they were doing with these characters.

Soren went above and beyond in redeeming himself. Even the little thing of his "step-prince" jabs that annoyed me in season 1, I had nearly forgotten about it and then he made the effort to apologise directly for it and I was just so impressed. And his reasons for going along with killing the princes being that he doubted his own beliefs in stead of his father's who he viewed as more intelligent and good, totally makes sense and frames his actions entirely differently.

If I understand correctly Aaravos will soon manifest as a touchable being and I am wondering if Viren will join him, if Aaravos gets rid of Viren or makes him his minion. And tied to that is the dynamic between Viren and Claudia. Will Claudia accept Aaravos as being higher in the heirarcy or will she try and convince her father, that he is better than just being a subject to Aaravos? Will she become the minion to do it all? Will Viren still treat her like his daughter or will she become an asset? This all ties into Claudia having an redemption arc or being doomed to go insane and become paranoid like Azula did in Atla.

I think it's interesting, in a show that really cares about diversity, how he's kinda the stereotypical douchy straight white guy. He can be a bit of a jerk, but it's not because he's mean, but because he doesn't know better (partly, because of his privilege). Soren's arc isn't a transition from evil to good, he was never evil. His journey goes from being a person that blindly accepts a status quo that benefits him, to a person that gains awarenes and acts to change the Status Quo that benefitted him.

I watched the first three seasons last week and I can't wait for season 4 ! I love the show.

Yes his arc was extremely satisfying right up there with Zuko and Katra But while being a little more lovable and goofy than either of those two.

Just got through the whole show, truly is a great show regardless of it being fantasy. Hooked me in everyway

Soren reminds me of Jaime Lannister (not as smart as his sister but is a great solder,he is also the youngest kings guard just like Jamie, he must have been the inspiration for Soren) , but with a good redemption arc.

I remember seeing the end credits and it shows little claudia on virens lap doing their magic thing or whatever and soren on the side looking left out and not getting the same attention that Claudia gets. At that moment i kinda felt bad soren and that one picture explained so much about his childhood. But anyway I got goldfish memory.

I think all the charecters on the drangon prince are a mix of tow characters of avatar, an exemple, Soren is a mix of Zuko because of his obcession with empress his father that love his sister more than him and Sokka because of his funny personality.

I love soren he is my fav character he’s just like me he’s goofy kinda stupid and just an over very well developed character he’s cocky but he has a hudge heart and finds out that his dad isn’t that good and understands that maybe his dad isn’t that good of a person I just love him so much and he’s just so sweet and I just loaf him

Look up “The Drsgon Prince” and click on the official channel... go to their videos and you will be able to find it easily considering that they don’t have too many vids

To me I at first shipped Callum and Rayla but then it was laid on too thick, and Callum seems to be a little too sure in the belief that he is the main character Which makes soren and his growth more appealing and actually makes him my favorite character

Yeah he really did grow as a character 💯

Ngl, Soren and Claudia were always my favorites, I love the team rocket style comedic idiot villain duo. But Claudia kind of fell out of favor, and Soren became way nicer. So I’ve always liked Soren, now I just like him as a person as well as a character.

I love Soren he starts as comic relief dumbass but soon you realize he is not dumb but naive and oblivious he can be smart and thanks to his naivity he has pure heart and Viren never bothered to lie to him hence he saw the truth which he accepted since he knows that going with Viren is evil especially after His father turned soldier into gargoyles
