Is dark magic related to animal or life magic?? Cause that's the pattern I've been seeing here and that I don't have netflix and only watch bits of here and there on KZbin, but Claudia's shape shifting magic is amazing I mean she got wings and the snake thing and that one time she turned binds into snakes too.

A bit yes. Dark magic requires the souls or essence of living things. The more powerful the creature, the more powerful the magic. And specific Parts can give you specific Magic. Dragons and Elves don't like dark magic even though they both consumed meat to sustain their lives.

@@serronserron1320 Dark magic corrupts the body. Also dark magic is a cheat. Its all reward without the work in a way. Callum shows that it is possible for humans in Xida to use other forms of magic. Hopefully they don't retcon him being a half elf or something.

Dark magic is tapping into the magical connections of other beings and items. We have never seen it used without components of some form or another. Compare that to the other types of magic where casters tap directly into the Arcanum through their own connections. For Dark Magic to work, you need to have something with a direct connection to the type of magic you wish to use. The more intrinsically connected, the more powerful the spell. Take for instance the need for a Magma Titan's heart to cast a powerful spell that would bring heat and fertility to the land in order to grow food. More often than not, Dark magic uses living things. But every once in a while, something else may be a part of the spell. The important part is that it's connecting to an Arcanum through indirect means.

@@Mord12gp It's not at all Cheating you have to hunt down or collect the ingredients necessary for a spell instead of just naturally calling on abilities within you. It has a toll on people who are not strong enough to handle it. But it seems to be a bit more powerful than other forms of magic.
