Appreciate this video mainly because I didn't know such a truck existed. I've watched a many documentary and have honestly NEVER seen one. Thanks for sharing!

Very interesting, never seen the large 6 axel trailer before. Tamiya makes a great 1/35 model of the M26 with and without trailer.

That Tamiya kit was a joy to build and I wish I could find another to add to my millitary tractor trailer collection

The high fuel consuption is due to the fact that it was a gasoline engine pulling a heavy cargo. Similar problems occurred in the german tanks for the same reason.

That's a great point about the high fuel consumption issues related to gasoline engines in heavy-duty applications. The comparison with German tanks illustrates a common challenge in engineering during that era. Thanks for highlighting this aspect!

Incredible History Wonderful work This Adorable Boy served as America’s designated * “Big fire-truck” truck for Decades Though the HEMTT is the coolest modern American truck Is is often incorrectly referred to as a Dragon Wagon It simple fail’s to fulfill that Historic Culture 5:24 This is America’s actual modern Dragon Wagon See the obvious resemblance Ofcourse You do It does the same Doctrine as the original But better

The M26 after the WW II has been used by the heavys transports companys in France. A lot of them have equiped with a Cummins diesel motor. Gary De Favies/STSI used à lot with Gothaer trailers, german make made for the U-Boot transport. There's few years ago à Pacific could be seen in La Chignole on the side of Nationale 10 near Angoulême.

Really interesting history! It's fascinating to see how the M26 adapted and found new life post-WWII. Thanks for sharing this insight

"draggin' wagon"! Nothing magical here, just rugged, redundant engineering. The armor placed too much mass over the driven front axle resulting in gear wear and premature failure. The front axle and suspension are not in the same load range as the rear suspension. The heavy stuff was supposed to be at the rear. The armor was a late afterthought, resulting in overload. The soft body relieved the strain. The large motor made more than 700 lbs/ft of torque and the transmissions had low range upon low range. It was like a gasoline locomotive! The rear wheels are driven by a single frame mounted, unssuspended axle with four sprockets and chains, each with oilers, running forward and rearward to the drive wheels. The drive wheels are suspended on rocker arms outside the frame. This created a sacrificial linkage between each wheel and the drive axle. The drive axle was protected from overload by the weaker chains. It also allowed extreme vertical wheel articulation independently on each side. It was easily serviceable with no jacking or wheel removal. The trailer also featured suspension outside the frame for free articulation. No axles crossed the frame to drag on obstacles. On soft and unlevel ground, the bottom of the frame was long, smooth, low friction rails made to slide. The engineering of the tractor and the trailer is creative and extremely functional, a masterpiece (or pieces) of form following function. Tamiya made an outstanding plastic model with exceptional detail

Don't forget, that a lot of M26 tractors where used here in Europe after the war, with the movement of heavy objects! Some M26 had a cab rebuild, but the frame stayed the way it was! Both the United Kingdom and France, used these Trucks!

Las imágenes deben ser de la guerra de Corea, se ven muy pocos Sherman. Además se ve como transportan un cazacarros, creo que ruso. ¿Se enviaron unidades al ejército rojo?

Not using US Customary units shows your disrespect for Americans when discussing American products. We don’t want a one-world government.
