There's an episode of UNHhhh where Katya talks about a time during her addiction when she was tripping completely naked in broad daylight, and she cussed out the cops who came to arrest her. Horrifying to think that if things had gone differently, she wouldn't have even made it *to* recovery and patching things up with Trixie.

Katya was so sick and Trixie was such an angel. A true, good Judy. When I watched Moving Parts, I cried so badly- I was a m3th addict for 6 years, and I would get delusions like this where I would accuse people of cursing me, using me, or trying to unalive me. no shade to trixie, but i find the juxtaposition of her drama being a goddamn cotton picking joke and katya's being that she called someone's dress ugly so hilarious.
@darkmask5933
@darkmask5933 Жыл бұрын
It wasn't that Katya called the dress ugly, the dress WAS ugly that was literally the point, Yvie was trying to make a message. Katya was talking out her butt about how a 'Drag Race winner' should be conducting themselves, ignoring the huge financial gap that's been formed by fans expecting 'Drag Race quality' drag, as well as the fact Katya (and Trixie for that matter) have worn some incredibly cheap and ugly things themselves and get away with it because they are popular white queens. Trixie's was a drunken joke that didn't land that didn't even seem to offend the person it was aimed towards, Katya's was tone deaf.

@@darkmask5933 "huge financial gap" she just won $100k. The look didn't immediately scream "commentary on fan expectations" so Yvie could have been more gracious in explaining her message because even fans had the initial reaction Katya did. Also, like I said, she just won prize money that's more than most people make in a year. Maybe sending a message about fan expectations would make more sense coming from a queen who got an early boot instead of the one with a 6 figure prize. You also can't simultaneously be crying that Katya said you should try a little harder than a t-shirt and then also cry that Katya isn't doing enough herself. That's called hypocrisy. I think it's clear that Katya's message was about maintaining a balance of showing the fans you care and also not going broke over an appearance.
@NiNJASMUUCH

@@1bwashI think yvie's look was more-so a response to WoW not paying her the prize money until half a year after she won. it's like "if you're not going to compensate me for winning then I won't look like a winner." yvie just revealed all of this about a year ago but I speculate that she couldn't say too much about it in 2019.

It's not a disease. Do you research..doctors came up with calling addiction a disease so they can capitalize and market off of it by putting them into rehab but just want to take their insurance money. Many recovered addicts that I know say calling addiction a disease undermines what it really is and all it does is make people with addiction believe that it's out of their control, which is damaging to recovery. They told me they used the excuse of their addiction being a "disease" so they can continue using and not take accountability.

I sincerely hate how this country treats people who have issues with drugs or addiction. The fact of the matter is absolutely everyone in this country is on drugs and takes drugs regularly. Whether it’s prescription medication, which are all drugs, vaccines, which are drugs, alcohol, which are all drugs, over the counter medication, which are all drugs, tobacco, vape, or marijuana products, which are all drugs, pain relievers, which are all drugs, steroids, which are all drugs, and of course, caffeine, which notably Coca-Cola replaced their cocaine laced soda with, back when the war on drugs began. Caffeine is a drug . Commonly found in soda products, coffee, and tea. We need to start taking Health and mental health care seriously in this country. The first step in doing that is ending the war on drugs and decriminalizing drugs. Because all drugs have medicinal purposes, whether or not our government would like to acknowledge or admit it. And criminalizing drugs and healthcare options, like abortion, only serves to harm the American people, and criminalize the most vulnerable among us #EndTheWarOnDrugs #EndOfTheWarOnWomen #StopCriminalizingMentalIllness #StopCriminalizingHealthCare #StopCriminalizingPoverty #StopCriminalizingAddiction #StopTheStigma #HarmReductionWorks #SafeSupplySavesLives Being addicted to drugs, does not make you a criminal and does not make you a bad person . It makes you a human being, who is suffering. Treating it as gossip, or as some kind of bogeyman and demonizing and degrading the users of those drugs, only serves to exacerbate the problems within our society, and does nothing to actually help people

Katya was saying that from the point of view of fans who wanted to meet Yvie and would be disappointed by this dress. She was ok with it being a statement, just not at Drag Con. She's partly right, because some fans would be disappointed, and partly wrong because that dress is C.U.N.T. Thing is, it became an issue because it was in a book and Katya is prominent, meanwhile both Trixie and Katya and many other queens do a lot of disparaging commentary about dresses of other queens, and no one cares.

So for those upset the situation ended up in the Moving Parts documentary, Katya approved of it…and frankly? Even if Katya hadn’t, Trixie would have a right to share the story. It happened to her…she put Trixie through a significant amount of trauma. It’s wonderful that they were able to make amends and fix their relationship, but being threatened to be killed, verbally assaulted, threatened to be physically assaulted, and all of this by your friend is extremely traumatic. What you choose to do in order to cope with that is up to you. There’s also something to be said about the fact that addiction, while not a choice, is very real, can be very scary, and happens to a lot of people. I’m glad that it was added into the documentary, because people need to see all parts of addiction and mental health. Not just the glamorized, easy to cope with parts.

The whole Yvie and talking about her looks in the book is very unfortunate and everyone involved lost in that situation. I agree that a winner should be held to a certain standard so katya is right, however Yvie has come out and stated that she didn't get her money till WAY after she won, like years after.

@cobain4969 Yeah the rumor is that because they had to give two winners prize money for all stars 4 the year prior to season 11 that is why her check was delayed and she didn't see any kind of money till AFTER Shea won all stars 5 and shea immediately got her check.

People just like to harp on whoever. It was a roast, it was full of horrible nasty racist jokes. Funny thing is, Comedy Central roast has jokes of similar vein, no one particularly cares. but Trixie says something, she's the worst. Bob, paragon of fighting for rights, said similarly crude jokes about Jews at the roasts, no one cancelled him.

You know what INFURIATES me? These "fans" of Dragrace went after Trixie for her joke at Latrice in 2018, but a year prior, nobody said a thing about Alaska's *Pulse Massacre* joke. It wasn't even a year; it was April/May 2017. Fans GOT UP and started leaving, with some of their friends going "what's Pulse?". Don't "pick and choose" what jokes clear at a Roast. It's A ROAST. It's not the View. It's not Good Morning America.

One more thing....... Can we PLEASE move past telling the Queens when they've gone "too far"???? If you knew the depth of sh** some of these Queens have waded through to get where they are now, you'd shut your damn pie holes - especially the straight people out there. You don't get to tell a Queen how they are supposed to process something, nor how they are supposed perform their art, straight person. It wasn't meant for you in the first place. The straight fandom have become like Colonialism - they move on in and say they love the place, then they start to tell everyone how they're supposed to process their personal pain, or how they should be doing things "better". Learn to read the room. Not everything is for you :)

I mean, not that I have experienced anything close to this, but my own mother had substance abuse issues and she seemed to be in a mission to drag me for filth every chance she got when she was having a break down. I was called every name on earth and walked on glass from the minute I woke up. But anyone could clearly see that she was having a nervous breakdown, and even if some of what she said was true, she didn't mean to use it against me. I felt angry, offended, hurt, but at the end of the day I couldn't blame her for something that was out of her control. We don't know what they're like in real life, but we can't judge from what we see. We are too used to nepo baby celebrities that received media training from childhood, and famous drag queens have went through a lot to get to where they are. That takes a toll on anybody, but at least we can differentiate from who is trying to be a fair, kind person and who is not

I get why old people call everyone younger than them a snowflake. I’m so annoyed by people’s constant desire to be insulted by something, anything. I can’t help but to notice it’s entirely for attention and sympathy. A need to feel victimized. Which is annoying. People on TikTok literally pretending to be mentally ill for the same reasons. It’s like everyone has gone crazy. Honestly? My peers disgust me. There I said it. Someone is probably going to be offended by it.

You shouldn’t expect strangers to do whatever you want on command. No matter how Parasocial you are with someone, being a fan isn’t this inherently transactional thing where now you can demand and expect whatever. It’s not about the fact she could’ve said hbd in the same amount of time as her politely declining, it’s about her being comfortable with doing that in the moment and she wasn’t. A boundary. If my friend asked some random celeb I liked to say hbd to me while they got a bad low angle view iPhone on them I’d honestly be embarrassed. having a rushed video of a person trying to get somewhere and saying a disingenuous hbd (because let’s be real they don’t know me so why should they mean it?) sounds so blah. I’d rather have organic and normal interactions with people, not a *screaming* OMG I LOVE YOU BIG FAN, MOTHER moment. treating people humanely, you know? Because believe it or not deifying someone is dehumanizing and likely feels strange to those receiving attention like that.
