that's the downside to reality tv competition shows. every competition show has had these issues. no toilet time until production takes a break or finishes, no socializing time in hotels and must be in separate rooms or 2 or 3 to a room and no phones, can't do this, can't do that and so on.

As a Canadian, I'm in total agreement with the CanCon law. When you're a tiny (population-wise) country bordering a massive entertainment behemoth, you have to protect yourself or you'll get steamrolled. Additionally, I think UK and Down Under should have local hosts too. Frankly, RuPaul doesn't understand half the jokes and references going on in those shows.

Brooke Lynn said in a Roscoe's episode whe asked the question of why RuPaul doesn't host other franchises, she said it's because many countries have a clause about the main talent on a show from their country has to be from that country. Canada is one of those places, along with France, Belgium, etc. So the top billing has to go to a person from the country. RuPaul could be a guest judge, but we know RuPaul isn't about that.

See, I disagree. It’s a bathroom close to set. It should be used by anyone who needs it. Michelle has her own room with a private bathroom, own dressing room with her own bathroom seems like enough. the fact that she gets priority bathroom when she’s not in full (body sometimes) drag seems unnecessary and unfair. Toilets should be accessible by everyone. Bodily functions aren’t optional and forcing those on stage to hold it seems cruel.

The Canadian Content is 100% accurate. There has to be a certain percentage of Canadian Content in every hour of TV. Even American stations have Canadian commercials replaced at breaks. It’s all a part of the CRTC (Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission.) I had to learn all about this when I took Television Broadcasting in college years ago.

Good on Canada though, I think it's important they keep it Canadian and don't let our media swallow theirs, let Canadian stars prosper and grow, and Canadian stuff become popular. American stuff can be not so great after all, and so so so influenced by huge jerks with money and not ***actual*** good content. @@LunalovaniaGaming Yeah because Down Under season 1 was clearly made on a budget. If you watch the editing style, it's not following a natural story, it's completely a template. It switches from different angles just for the sake of it, like it'll be a wide shot and then a close up reaction, but there is nothing to react to, it's just a formula/template of cuts to demonstrate action. I have no doubt they tried to squeeze things in to downtime as much as possible, but just because it happened with that season, doesn't mean others are that rushed.

That is 100% the reason why Ru cannot host in Canada, it has to do with the laws from the CRTC. If it wasn't for that rule then Ru would most likely have been the one to host it since he has done the UK and Aus. So, it is nice that we have Canadian representation, but we also lose out on Ru coming to Canada to be the main host.

It does not mean that Ru Paul could not host however. It’s a point system and one of the two highest paid talent needs to be Canadian so he could have done it with Brook but not Michelle. I actually think it’s just because Canada is *such* a small market that it isn’t worth it for him. We have less than the population of California in our entire country!

For the queens being isolated in hotel rooms for so long, it must be distressing. Especially if you've been eliminated, but they're keeping you in the hotel on ice to later record some other part of the show.... Knowing you've lost the show, wanting to maybe just hug your Mom or something because you just lost Drag Race, and being isolated, alone, by yourself in a hotel room with no phone or anything? Can you imagine how dark that must be? Especially for people who may be prone to strong emotional reactions (which is completely normal, and I feel it means that type of person is simply more in touch with themselves than the most of us...). Sounds like filming Drag Race is actually grueling, and unduly stressful to the Queens. Remember that the next time you want to complain about Drag Race in any capacity. It's a fun show. It's meant to be fun. If you find yourself not having fun whilst watching, then turn it off, get off the fan site, and type your negativity elsewhere.

The DUs1 thing with the lyrics was because the producer was in the US so they needed time for him to go over everything and give back feedback etc, in case changes needed to be made. Having the producer available on set shortens the amount of time needed because the girls work with him themselves a bit. It's why you generally see them doing the recording part with feedback and they're changing stuff up sometimes. Also, Tatianna had said she prepared lyrics because they told them to before the show started filming, or shortly after it did. Nothing was sent to any producer or anything, they were just told to be prepared for it. So she came up with her lyrics and thought they were very good, but she didn't make it to RUWU.

There was a rumour circulating prior the premiere of Canada’s Drag Race that the reason why RuPaul did not become the host of that franchise was related to her makeup artist, Raven. While CanCon is a thing, it doesn’t outright deny non-Canadians the opportunity to host a Canadian program but it does limit the amount of funding that the government will provide to a production (The more Canadians involved in the production = more tax incentives). While I have found no evidence this to be true, it was said that Raven would not be permitted entry into Canada due to a previous DUI, something Canada takes very seriously. Not sure if this rumour has been debunked, but I have not heard much regarding this theory since season 1 of the show.

Lol no its our broadcasting laws... same reason why if u turn on the radio you get bombarded with Justin Bieber and Drake songs. Rupaul wouod have enough money and time to work that out. Im a dual citizen (moms American and Dads Candian with a home in both Toronto and Florida). My American cousin has a record and it took some time and effort to work it out but he was finally able to come over. If my bum of a cousin could manage it so could RuPaul! Alot of celebs have criminal records and are still allowed over. For example I saw Shai LaBeouf in Toronto recently after his many arrests. Also Mark Whalberg and Will Smith, both have criminal records too and ive seen in Toronto. Love this theory tho!!! 😂

Canadian content just means that there have to be Canadian television shows. It absolutely does not dictate that non-Canadians cannot appear in them. (The lead actor in Son of a Critch, for example, is British.) Ru + Michelle + a Canadian regular third judge (or two Canadian rotating third judges) + Canadian guests, exactly the way they do UK and Australia, would have been perfectly CanCon compliant.

This is why if I did drag again, I would never go on a show like this, they way they treat the Queens is wrong, they are Human Beings after all so treat them like Humans and not like Animals, I don't care if it gets you more fans. Don't you already have fans before you went on the show. And you're already well known in your Community before going on the Show. Don't waste your time with this show.

I don’t think Rupaul was in Australia season 2 all the time. You can tell production used a stand in for the scene when Spanky Jackson was slapped by Rupaul! I’ve watched enough episodes of Drag Race to tell the difference. You can also spot a slight difference in lighting in the work room when Rupaul is talking to contestants. But can you blame her with all the work she does on the shows?

What about the fake/scripted dramas? Yes, cus a lot of fights looks really scripted just to increase the audience and virtual engagement... and honestly, it's a dump! Pisses me off!

One would think that DRDU would have more coins for the werk room and set after 2 seasons and it's not....still cheap looking. Look at DRP and their season 2 set, it is bigger and better. Even DRG and DRB have better sets than disappointing DRDU production.

It’s co-produced in New Zealand by TVNZ who have very limited resources to make a major reality tv show franchise. It was originally meant to be filmed in Australia but NZ was cheaper
