@@JamesToney-kw2hy no, they changed the rules a couple of years ago to pairs only. Before that they played 2 singles games and only played a pairs game if the teams were tied after the singles.

@@yankeeclipper4326 I fully agree. I know draws aren't the most entertaining anyway, but if they added a little more personality to it, it would've been more bearable. Even Emma Paton or Wayne Mardle would've been good to see do the draw. And they only give very basic info on the teams

They take the 2 highest ranked players of the country for the contest. In England, there are still Michael Smith, Cross, Chisnall, Dobey, Cullen, R. Smith, Bunting, Gilding, Searle and Wade, who are higher ranked than Littler

Michael Smith is ranked 3rd in the Order of Merit… Luke Littler is 25th! The majority of Littler’s fantastic success has been in non-ranking tournaments such as Premier League and the World Series. Don’t worry… Littler is climbing the rankings at an astonishing pace and will be ranked up with Humphries within 12 months.

But yes, with teams like Lithuania, Canada, Latvia or Portugal in the draw, and also all the Asian teams which tend to get underestimated (Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines) we got one of very favourable options. Reminded that the Czechs have never made it into top 16. The quality simply wasn't there during the 2010s. Now it's always the Sedláček + Gawlas duo representing, but always unfortunate to some extent: - 2020 - Drawing eventual semifinalists Belgium in first round of 2020 (and only losing in the last possible leg) - 2021 - Getting eliminated with 103.4 average in first round (Poland had 104.9 average) - 2022 - Drawing eventual semifinalists England in first round - 2023 - Having an extraordinarily bad match against the Philippines, making it the worst match in country's history regarding three-darts average. (75.0 - Even the first two years playing at the World Cup weren't this bad.) Also, Philippines were kinda sick and they'd make it tough for probably any team that year. I'm hoping they can upset Belgium this year, which might not look very likely, but it's a best-of-seven-legs match, so a lot can happen.
