The biggest issue with vocal Bok fans online, most of them arent actually big rugby fans, theyre just Bok fans. Not the kind of people who would watch rugby if the Boks arent playing, or maybe they'll watch their local franchise at a braai or a bar if its on the TV. And I'd suggest most of them are little gen z bastards who werent even watching rugby when we were losing under Coetzee. And ja, we're a tad sensitive sometimes

DuPont hasn’t won a World Cup quarter final, he hasn’t won a game in South Africa or in New Zealand. He has 1 Six Nations. And his French team are genuinely great, so that’s not an excuse. You don’t have to win a World Cup to be the goat, but you do when you play for a team as good as France at home at least win a quarter final. Someone like Lomu may have never won it, but he was so close.

The Blitzboks were not so long ago more than friggin good. For a period of about 8 years they finished either 1st or 2nd & I think once 3rd. They went on a run of victories couple years ago that was 2nd only to NZs record of victories. They also won like 4/5 legs of a series in a row not long ago. Gold medal at commonwealth games. What's with Tony's uneducated comment of the Blitzboks not really traditionally being good. It's only the last couple years where they've been inconsistent.

The anti-french anglo-saxon referees plot always comes back when a close match is defined by small margins, hence usually by some refereeing decisions (curiously there is no problem with those referees if the french team wins, but most probably this is because they couldn't find any way to accomplish their dirty work). Possibly it originates from the amateur era when barrier language caused misunderstandings between the ref and the french players, leading to penalties and the impression of biased refereeing. Fun fact: Every referee can be accused of taking part of the plot - even non anglo-saxons - especially if you are a south-african slapped with a french patronym.

On the arrogant fans front. New Zealand was definitely guilty of it during the 2011 to 2015 period. From my experience online it was pretty similar to Irish or South African fans nowadays. New Zealand pundits (specifically thinking about the breakdown here) are as bad as the English media/ pundits with their arrogance too. Currently I am not too chuffed about my teams fan base atm (Springboks) but that's par for the course. On the GOAT debate. John Eales. He did things you would never expect from a forward, Dupont is good but not the same type of all round player Eales was, and afterall, nobody is perfect.
