I find You need to be in the mood for this band. full on meloncholy and deppression ! Lol Me personally i wouldnt of gone for this one i would of said a doomed lover, i cannot be loved, for you, my body a funeral, black heart romance .. theyre all good and show more of aarons clean vocals but if your ever in mood for a real dark, deppresive song by these i would definitly say a song called deeper down. To me that song is the definition of deppression. 😅

Amazing! I didn’t think you’d go there, but you did! I adore this band. So miserable, but so beautiful very often also. There’s demon in here. But there’s more heaviness in the sad voice. My Hope, The Destroyer may be more uplifting off this album. Also, Black Heart Romance has an Easter egg if you like bass rumbles. The album Like Gods Of The Sun is also less oppressive slightly. And Soen. Still persisting with that one. Pluton, Tabula Rasa.

I saw this and clicked so fast. I love MDB and this song, but I don't know that I would have recommended this one for you to start with if it wasn't October/Halloween month. Probably would have recommended A Kiss to Remember or The Cry of Mankind as a better starting place for you. I think you would enjoy the albums those songs are from more than this, those are more gothic (and feature violin), less death metal-ish.

Well, I am back from the dentist and you not liking this song hurts much more than the tooth butchering : ( Just kiddin, this reaction channel is my favourite because you are honest in your opinions and not a crowd pleaser. I hope you give this band another shot, because the demon appears only in 30% of their songs. It was full demon in the first album, and then vanished for more than a decade, making a return in their latest albums although the clean voices are predominant. Also, if you like sadness and melancholy, My Dying Bride is THE band to go. (about the singer sounding a little like Roger Waters, i never thought of that but you are damn right!)

I hope we can get you to check out another song, they have an incredible amount of songs, and I guess I recommended them because you seem to be enjoying darker music, and they do that with a lot of atmosphere. And just like Katatonia, might be something you might have never heard otherwise. Thank you for giving them a listen. I'm really looking forward to more Katatonia tho
@theCrownofSympathy

It would be cool if she gave them a second chance at some point. I might have stated this on another video when someone recommended MDB, but I didn't think their death/doom sound would be a good starting place. I think something from Like Gods of the Sun or Angel and the Dark River would have been better. Maybe I'm wrong though, MDB isn't for everyone and I get that. There's overlap with bands like Katatonia and Type O Negative, but MDB are also their own thing and a bit heavier and darker. Aaron's vocals can take some getting used to also. Personally, I'll take MDB over Katatonia and Type O anyday. Nothing against those bands, I like some of their stuff too, but MDB just hits differently.

@@16dbuse Thy Raven Wings could have been a good starter too. When I got into MDB, I first heard Deeper Down followed by A Kiss to Remember. I wasn't so much into extreme metal vocals at the time, so I started with those albums. Had I heard The Dreadful Hours first, I'm not sure how I would have responded at the time. Now I love it, but that side of the band had to grow on me.

@@theCrownofSympathy my 1st time was in 91/92 with their 3 song ep Symphonaire Infernus et Spera, I wasn't gonna recommend that, but at that time it was amazing, it still is, and still nothing like it, even by them lol, I've loved ever since, it's hard to pick a song for people to check out, because each album is so different inside itself. But yes, Like gods of the Sun is a more mellow, almost progressive album, and an great one to start with.
@theCrownofSympathy

@@16dbuse Their classic material is my favorite now, Turn Loose the Swans especially. But, I was in high school when A Line of Deathless Kings came out, I saw Deeper Down on Headbanger's Ball. At the time, I was listening to more mainstream bands like Slipknot, Nightwish, Rammstein. So I'm glad my first exposure was that song. When I heard A Kiss to Remember though with the violin, I needed more in my life.

You have to listen to The Angel and the Dark River, turn loose the swans or something released before The Dreadful Hours. Arriving at the point to listen and probably like MDB, it's a process. Aaron is a true artist, lyrics are pure poems. Also try Sear Me III, For my fallen angel, or my wine in silence. DN. If you don't like something, don't smile!

Hello! I may have already dropped this recommendation elsewhere for you. If you have not heard of them or this song: Seven Spires - God's of Debauchery. Some heavy, female led, metal with a very symphonic theme to the album (I believe there are a trio of albums that she wrote). There is serious talent from all the band and it is definitely a kick up the backside type of song. Enjoy! ;)

Hope you don’t give up on MDB because this first experience was a bit disappointing. This isn’t the best introduction song in my opinion. You could try something from a period when Aaron (the singer) didn’t use his “demon”. May I suggest From Darkest Skies Even without demon you’ll need to get used to his voice. His special way of signing/whining is not something you hear everyday. But it suits the music and lyrics so well.

To be fair, it's a horrible song, and anyone who says, "Hey, I love this child abuse song!" needs their head seen to; so don't feel bad about not liking it... They're a superb band, but this song is always a terrible choice for a first experience. It mystifies me that people recommend it.
@CoCoCo1212
@CoCoCo1212 2 ай бұрын
Well, the song clearly isn't glorifying child abuse. It's a tragic and horrific song meant to elicit strong emotions. It's *supposed* to disturb you! And that's why I love it so much. I listen to it whenever I'm in a terrible mood and strangely enough, it calms me. I lost my father back in February, so whenever I play this song now, I often think "Our relationship wasn't perfect, but at least it was better than this!" 😅 If it isn't for you, that's fine, but not all folks who enjoy songs with dreary or disturbing lyrics are clinically insane, so I feel your comment here is a tad harsh and judgmental.
