Hard disagree on the Beyonce proximity part of this conversation. This was poor journalism from the writer who wrote the article. Aside from mentioning that the dream has produced for Beyonce her name shouldn’t have been all up and through the article. It is not Beyonce’s or any other black woman’s job to be held accountable, directly or by proxy, for black men’s morality. The focus should’ve solely been on the dream’s crimes and the victims reported abuse.

Respectfully, even though you are not blaming Beyonce directly, you are calling her hour for not researching everyone she works with to make sure they do not have SA allegations. I think it’s unfair to put that on her. It could be allegations and she isn’t aware, it could be the allegations she choose to ignore. How are we really going to know. Anyone can leverage their proximity to a person of power, that’s what predators too. Sometimes things fall through the cracks, Beyoncé is human like the rest of us. I know this is a triggering convo but we need to focus on the fact that these allegations, are against the Dream. It’s not Beyoncé ‘s fault people use to this to their advantage. I don’t think there are enough people talking about Clive Davis’ proximity to all of this. He’s the head of Sony Music which owns Epic Records and several other music labels. He also was Diddy’s mentor and gateway into the music executive space. Clive Davis built most of what we know as the music industry today and also was involved in the careers of many MANY huge artists, including Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston…

I understand what you are saying in regards to some of the men Beyoncé has worked with having a questionable background. I hope her team starts looking at people she will work with in the future with an even finer tooth comb. But that being said Beyoncé and her team work with hundreds ( maybe even more) of people when creating music, videos, brand goods, etc… I think it would be almost impossible to weed out everyone who had a criminal past or is secretly abusing their partner. Sad to say. I’m pretty sure, that’s why Bey stays mostly to her self and doesn’t have a lot of close industry friends.

I agree that her team may not be able to weed out all the ticks but the dream actually has an extensive history with abuse. His marriages have reported his abuse several times. So to say they may not have known about the dream may be untrue. Money makes those executives choose to do it anyway because it didn’t effect Bey. But this time it could because she has a controversial new album where spectators are waiting for something to ridicule her. Her team should’ve protected her name from that. That’s the proximity part I believe she was speaking of. Like dang why I’m being brought up when I have nothing to do with this type of thing. And the victims really thought they had a chance based on who he worked with. Classic abuser behavior.

But these rumors about the Dream and Diddy are not new. People have been talking for decades. I think the problem people are having with the likes of Beyonce is that they heard the whispers, chose to ignore it and still work with these individuals. It's only recently that what people do in their personal lives affect their professional lives. At the end of the day, if us commoners aren't that shocked about some of these accusations, why would the 0.5% in the industry be ignorant of what goes on? They know, but they continue to be in business with them until it doesn't benefit them any longer. And people hold celebrities to a higher moral standard for whatever reason.

But the W has ALWAYS tried to prop up White superstars it’s nothing new, what is new is the fan base this particular white woman brings w/ her. They want her to be able to skip steps, because they think she invented the game of basketball. But it’s just what you said it’s the ERASURE of black women & their accolades. Just because yall JUST started watching doesn’t mean yall have the right to disregard and disrespect the people who have been here, and are still here. Hell the best player in the world IS a black woman (A’ja Wilson) and there is no if ands or buts about it. But you know, racism 🤷🏾‍♀️ lol. These celebs may be privy to things and they very well may not be. A lot of ppl put on a mask when in the public eye. And many of these ppl just have working relationships and that’s all. I agree completely. This whole conversation is putting the burden on women instead of predators. Every woman in the industry has "proximity" to a predator. It's not just in hip hop, it's not just in the music. Look at actors who have worked with guys like Polanski and Weinstein and Cosby. What those men did wasn't because of any proximity. They had *power*. That is what predators use. Those thousands of catholic priests didn't have "proximity" to Beyoncé or any other women. They had proximity to their *victims* and *power* over their victims. Obviously, this is very personal to Jessie, but that whole segment was misguided. Unless these women were luring in victims, leave them out of it. I'm sure Jessie will be mixed up in a lot of this mess as she gets more and more successful.

I believe you 100% and again what you are saying makes sense and people who have never worked in entertainment will not understand this but everything in music is RELATIONSHIPS. It sucks. There's plenty of folks working in music who are very untalented, lazy, and mid (usually white and male as well). They know someone or their daddy does. I'm not saying that you are best friends with people when doing a feature or making a record but people are heavily vetted. Maybe an artist is not best friends with the other artist but you have to remember there's also managers and others involved who also know about industry gossips, secrets, and TEA. The music industry especially at that level is a small pool. With that being said, I want you to consider not speaking on it or at least not speaking on it YET. Like you've said in previous videos people do not believe much of anything until they see the violence on video or photo and the Beyhive is arguably one of the most involved, massive, and powerful fanbases in the world. You also have a music career. I care and am just a bit weary of this but of course do you. XO

I understood everything Jess said in regards to Beyonce. It was vocalized very articulate and detailed, allowing nothing to be misconstrued in my opinion. I think the issue for Beyonce and everyone in entertainment, that would include Jess. Seemingly... if we really drained the swamp, the entertainment industry would be dry as a desert. Probably only a hand full of people would be remaining. Why, because power corrupts. Just name, just about anyone in music, television, sports etc that's successful, above C-list. Past or present, and it's disturbing. Even Katt Williams, everybody now is giving him praises and notoriety as being "different" a truth teller, on the right side of things. However he has admitted to pimping women, being in association. There has been at least two women who claim they witnessed him physically put his hands on women or was abused by him. One is a ex girlfriend and the other is a ex-friend, also third is a ex- employee. Mind you, the employee spoke about this years ago, she sued him (comedy hype interview). People are ignoring that like Beyonce probably ignored the chatter or facts about the Diddys in music etc. Or she may be a "diddy" accomplice, we also have to remember we don't know these celebrities. Fact of the matter is when it comes to humans in general, for self-serving reasons, people turn blind eyes. Money, safety, etc etc. Or in the case of a Beyonce, to get the best music, or for industry employees, to keep income coming in, to still have the opportunity to live out their dreams and not be blackballed. FYI, this not a justification, I'm analyzing the "Why".

@@Kelema86 Maybe not work with a man accused of being an abuser ? Did she not have a choice? That's the whole point of the article. It's what it's insinuating. That she is not as angelic as the image she portrays. Or maybe not take pictures and hang around with a guy like PeePee Diddy who might I remind you, is a very close friend of Jay Z. What does that say about her husband ? In regards to the choice of collab artists or producers or songwriters, it's not as if she has no choice. The very fact that she works with people that are very suspicious is in fact the proof that that everything that woman does is performative. I really don't understand the Beyonce moral hype and if she is some kind of god. There's something eerie about it. We all saw how she treated some of her fellow group members of her girl group. She's not a nice woman and her husband isn't a nice man either. The sooner we stop putting them on a pedestal, the better. Let's idolise actual black heroes.

@@Kelema86 No, however if she did hear chatter from multiple sources that The Dream was r-wording, putting hands on women. When there's smoke there's fire. Her and others could stop working with him and that would disempower him. Again, The Dream is clearly talented, Beyonce and others may feel something is off, about him but they disregard it because they are more concerned about how I may affect them. I'm not necessarily judging because it's no different than the girl who dates the drug dealer and turns a blind eye to that because the money her man gives her benefits her. Not my story but I'm just saying. We all can relate to that type of dilemma, in way or another.

Some points of correction. The NBA and WNBA been whooping each other ass in games forever. This isn’t new. Caitlyn made a dirty foul on Carter first (they need to show everything on the media, but they only show certain parts to rile yall up. When this happens, the people who do not even watch basketball have a lot to say and are upset) and Carter returned the favor. Fair is fair. Neither of them were fined. It has been confirmed. The reason they are focusing a lot on Clark vs all other draft players is because she was number 1 draft pick. She earned it. Just like other NBA #1 picks, especially in that first year. If she maintains her stats she will continue getting the attention. If not, the attention will drop off and focus on whoever is playing at the top of their game. Angel is #7 pick. She earned that as well. She is a great rebounder and free thrower, but she’s not shooting like Caitlyn. Both of them and the others are the reason why WNBA has a new spotlight on them.

It wasn't until the doc came out that the Hollywood stars who supported him came out to apologize saying they didn't know or they didn't believe Drake Bell. So yeah, Jess, I agree with you there. There is no way the big players in hip hop and rnb have not been aware of these accusations. They've been ignoring it because it didn't cost them. Until the proximity no longer benefits them, they'll continue to work with these people.

Jess I know you ruffled some feathers bringing up Mrs. Carter, but you really didn’t bring her up the lawsuit did and so let’s talk about it. I understand and agree that more famous entertainers should be held accountable for working with known accusers/abusers. By continuing to collaborate with individuals who have been accused or convicted of abusive behavior, celebrities are essentially condoning and enabling that behavior to continue. This is how the R Kellys’ and Diddys’ of the world get away with hurting people for so long. Beyoncé and other celebrities are expected to use their platform and influence responsibly. She can either be part of the solution or part of the problem. It’s important for all celebrities to consider their actions and associations, and to take a stand against abuse by refusing to work with or support individuals who have a history of abusive behavior and hopefully by doing so, can create a safer work environment in the entertainment industry. We❤uJess and thanks for starting the conversation!😊

Jessie, I completely hear you with the proximity viewpoint! Celebs with as big as platforms as Bey, Ri, TS, etc. need to do their research with who they are collabing with. Not the stars necessarily but absolutely their teams. Especially when you have these popstars positioning themselves as activists/feminists. Their whole public lives are a brand, and you have to do background checks and keep ears to the ground about the people you let in to your brand. Abusers don't just appear out of nowhere. Ppl in the industry knew for years about Russell Simmons, R. Kelly, Weinstein, Cosby, Diddy, etc. Hollywood has a complacency problem, and there is some serious internal work that needs to be done.

This whole Beyoncé should have known conversation is very dangerous because there are a lot of ways in which that conversation can be utilized against victims themselves. There is no way that Beyoncé or her team can know what people have hidden from them even if Beyoncé was in a studio session with one of them do you think that they would exhibit those behaviors in front of her. Don’t you think that those producers know how to hide things from certain people. And people who she may have had a dinner or a lunch with it doesn’t mean that those are her friends. It just feels like this is another way to try to blame women for the shit men do. We can’t live our life in a bubble, and we cannot predict what other people have on their hearts and minds. We’re not God even if Beyoncé has the largest team around her she’s not God. And a lot of these abusers are professionals at it, and they know how to hide it when they need to hide it. If that was the case, none of this would be a surprise. None of this would be a shock. It’s very weird to try to blame a woman - Beyoncé. No matter how rich you are, no matter how famous, you are no matter how much people around love you you can still be fooled by an abuser and abuser can still slip through the cracks because they’ve mastered the art of being one-way behind closed doors and being another way in front of people that they want to impress, this is classic narcissism. This is what narcissists do outwardly people think they’re one person but the people who have an intimate relationship with them they know that those people are monsters we need to hold the blame squarely on these men and the systems that these men have created to protect abusers , and also, this is another reason why people have to stop idolizing celebrities. Especially as a Christian we have to make sure that we’re not idolizing anyone man or woman.

Honestly, I have seen folks invoke Beyonce's name for attention. Is it strange for successful people to have worked with other successful people? Diddy co produced one song for her that appeared on the Fighting Temptations soundtrack. One of the other producers was Mario Winans. And your tone does indicate a certain belligerent. You've been in the industry long enough to know how messed up the industry is, and inasmuch as they might know, it would be hard to address the issue in public... and you can't say you're not holding her accountable and in the next breath hold her accountable to someone else's behaviour. So much so that they are almost trying to manifest it by trying to implicate her in things there is absolutely no tangible proof she has had any part of. Yes, there are pics of her standing next to Diddy. How many celebrities have taken a pic with Diddy? Diddy is a huge producer and Beyonce is a huge artist. It would be weird if they had never crossed paths before. Even her husband being friends with Diddy is not enough to implicate her. Like it’s 2024. One does not always equal the other, and there are times when the two overlap. I will say when it comes to proximity, i side eye Naomi Campbell more often than abeyonce because of what ive already laid out. I have also stated many times before, the moment these artists start going down, Beyonces name is coming up...just because shes the bigger name. You habdled this well sis.

Your words “when are we going to have a conversation about Beyonce and abuser proximity” a lot of artists been around these abuser. you mentioned a few other artists. But your main focus was Beyonce…. Your statement can easily misconstrued and still trying to put the accountability on Beyonce….. a lot of everyday people have coworkers that would never know/think are abusers. I’m a survivor of SA too and I think there is a lot of projection in your commentary. And I understand why the project is happening, it just means more therapy needs to happen ❤. I’m not trying to be rude, I just recognize the hurt. AND maybe I could be projecting, who knows 🤷🏾‍♀️ But it’s all love ❤ keep shining

You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT in your think piece about the proximity to Beyonce. If we, the people of the general population, know what's going on in the industry and in certain circles then you can't tell me that Beyonce, who has ears and eyes in the inner dealings of Hollywood doesn't know what's going on. Idc idc idc!!!

I am glad to see the growth of the channel, a few months ago it was 163k and now we are fast approaching 200k, well deserved, and also, you look like a South African media personality so much today, it is uncanny, Pearl Modiadie. You raise a very poignant and valid point about her proximity, it is concerning and starting to look like choice, sad to see how it affects you as you have personal experience with sexual violation. love the coverage, keep it up!

I've been a die hard fan of Bey's my entire life, but I can definitely recognize that this is an important conversation to have, even when it's painful. No one is above critique and I appreciate that you discuss this while still coming from a place of protecting & loving black women (because other commentators and outlets are not as careful). That being said, Bey is currently in the spotlight because of Diddy, so it's become a "hot topic" (not saying that takes any of the importance of having the convo away), but still - I've ALSO been craving this same exact convo with respect to Nicki, who is married to a literal r****, for years as well. These are difficult convos because we love these artists (I love Nicki as well), but it's becoming more and more apparent that more are complicit in the horrors of the industry than we ever could have imagined. I was nodding along so hard when you broke down that proximity to stars at THAT level just continues to legitimize & give access to predators to keep doing what they do. The moment I saw the first Diddy allegations my first thought was "how could Beyoncé be around a man like this, no matter the context?? There's no way people around him didn't know..." It's stomach-churning as a fan. Super insightful, as always Jessie. Love you ❤❤ QUICK EDIT: THE WAY MY JAW DROPPED WHEN YOU SAID "THESE ARE CASSIE'S LAWYERS"... it is NOT looking good. But again - may all abusers BURN.
