Awesome, again Johnny, but.. so sad you dad didn’t get a red fish, but next time.. and a lobster is different to a cray, teaching the little ones is something they’ll remember for the rest of their life, is just like a squid is different to cuttlefish, please teach your kids the proper way of our beautiful sea life , and they will become better fisherman and more knowledgeable. Respect for the ocean 100%. ❤️

Hey Lindsay, I normally just look for isolated rocks, flat ruble ground or fern country when chasing reds. Wonky holes aren’t necessary

Love the cookup mate, will definitely be doing similar once i get the tub back. How do you gind the painted crays, i find theyre chewy unless diced up.

How long til you get your tub back? I find that if you don’t over cook the crays they aren’t too tough and have a nice texture. Boiling in water briefly and oven baking them works a treat. Retains its juices and also nice and soft 😀

Hi Ray, we are super vigilant with chasing crays and after multiple trips chasing them I can genuinely say it’s very very rare that we come across a cray with eggs. I have speared for them over the past 6 months and I haven’t had one with eggs yet. I got a mate who has speared the local reefs for the last ten years and he has only ever see one with eggs. In Qld we are allowed to spear them and in many instances the caves that they hide in are so deep it’s hard to grab them by hand. On this occasion as you would have seen I was fortunate to grab my first cray by hand and no eggs 😀

I think they go deeper water most of the time to breed. But we do our best to be sustainable with our fishing and spearing. 👌
