One question about the last hand with AQs. Is betting 50% pot for value on the turn against draw and Qx a mistake? Also it avoids to get bluffed by random floats like this. Because from what I see, at least live where I play 2/5 5-10, if an aggro rec thinks you have not K when you cekck turn and want to try a bluff, if called in the turn he will also fire river at huge frequency putting you exactly on the hand that you had AQ, or maybe a draw. I like your line with something like K10s KJs KQ because I am happy to call turn and river vs an aggro rec and give him a chance to spew.
@BenaBadBeatPoker7 ай бұрын
hey mate. so the short answer is: there’s nothing stopping you from going half ott. the longer answer is: I don’t want to implement multiple strategies on for different individual hands in my range. by doing so you often leave yourself obviously imbalanced to your opponents. that said, in anon on iggy you can certainly get away with it more. again, also you can do this vs rec but I didn’t think that this player was a rec!
@craigjohnson50117 ай бұрын
on the 52cc hand villain has so much unpaired Ax Kx Qx that whatever happens I don't think it matters long run. Yes, they have some occasional backdoor flush or a higher pocket pair but I think it all evens out

Hi Ben, I notice you “donking” quite a bit in this video. Is that only because of the specific spots your were in, or is that something that theory tells us to do a lot? I see that in the 77 hand (overpair + club) we should be donking 50% of the time. From what i understand from learning poker theoretically, we shouldn’t ever really be donking, but maybe I am just learning from the wrong places
@BenaBadBeatPoker7 ай бұрын
hey mate! donking does occur quite a lot but this just so happened to be an episode where there were more of those type of hands. as to your last point, it isn't really that donking shouldn't happen (because it does occur often), it's more the question as to whether we gain EV or not by doing so. the reality is that just because donking is higher EV at equilibrium, doesn't mean that the reality of doing so realise that EV gain. perhaps in some circumstances you yield more EV due to our opposition making mistakes, but a lot of the time when we do donk we're also in a less known node and therefore forego that EV that we may have gained.

3:45 Did you run the sim with bigger donks sizes than this? This is one of those spots where you do range donk but need to split into a huge size as well Double checked sim and it's actually just donk shoving at that SPR for the big size, splitting 20/jam or so. 77 Very clearly needs to jam as well beating everything while still denying a fair amount of equity (villain's entire range having 4 outs to chop being very huge would say)
@BenaBadBeatPoker7 ай бұрын
I did actually run it yep. in pio it did play some jams with hand and range but as a single sizing approach block was preferred. Did you compare EV of split vs just all in or just block? I’ll definitely take another look when I’m home on Sunday though, thanks! 🙏

@BenaBadBeatPoker7 ай бұрын
yoyo took a look at this again today. you're definitely right that if we split turn, 77 will be one of the first combos to shove. definite decent drop off in EV by using a single size vs split, and i do think that this is a relatively 'easy' to execute turn split scenario. ty for doing your write up and next time i'll be sure to shove turn! glgl

Second hand with 52c would say the villain played this kind of standard, no? 3x should be his main 3b bluffs flops so not sure how well we really do here OTR. Depends on how we construct turn lead like you said though, If we range x we still have plenty nuts obviosuly.
@BenaBadBeatPoker7 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t call it standard but yeah it absolutely will happen some of the time! yes and no regarding their hand being mostly 3x. also I’d imagine 3x is a mix vs jam anyway right?! think there are enough other hands that check back turn that likely fold/mix otr. as you say there’s so much speculation on the ‘real’ ranges that either of us arrive with due to no history:dynamos. how would you approach river in game with no info? appreciate all the analysis bro ❤️
@ltsjack7 ай бұрын
@@BenaBadBeatPoker Yeah, not standard like main line but not out of line. I'm 3betting flop with Q3s-A3s spades with nutted 2p outs (and no BDFD to unblock your 3x pair bluffs and block all suited 2p) in this spot pretty often, it's quite often a thing I think. I would have donked turn always and shove river I think expecting AT, overpairs to *not* fastplay turn enough and then overfold river, but that's conjecture. As played I probably just x river and hope for QJs giveups but not an easy spot. What was your turn timing? Maybe if we snap checked repping a range x OTT river is a lot more credible with all nuts still in range, unless villain knows you're very competent. Likewise, appreciate the responses and the videos :)

I’ve been watching your game for a while and I didn’t expect that play on the river with 52s. Value barrels turn from villain, especially from an aggressive opponent and probably not folding the river. And I can see far more bluffs here than A high, even as low as a hand like J9s, especially if you were x/r a lot on flop. Idk
@BenaBadBeatPoker7 ай бұрын
yo! as in you didn’t expect it from me Cus it’s a poor line? or you were surprised to see villains hand? I can see what you’re saying about J9 but ip just doesn’t get to 3b non blockers otf especially blocking some or my xR folds!
@jtotheg28877 ай бұрын
I thought you were most definitely x/deciding. No I wasn’t surprised at all in fact I thought a bet vs your x would be a 3 or a bd flush if it was value since over pairs bet turn imo. Idk the way you described this player, I wouldn’t be putting so much emphasis on blockers and gto. Blockers are overrated anyways, at least for now. When everyone starts playing like a computer, we can talk then.😄
@BenaBadBeatPoker7 ай бұрын
haha yeah I feel you. tbh regardless of whether we’re talking about blockers, let’s just look at fold equity. I think this runout strongly increases FE, and for that reason alone we could almost justify pure jamming our combo. and that’s before we even start considering blockers! appreciate your thoughts mate 🔥

On first thought 52 hand river donk all in doesnt make sence as you repping a rivered 3 and thats very unlikely as played. Then again - you could backdoor in diamonds - something like 67 of D. But are you really donking those low once all in on a paired board? .... If the 3 wasn't a diamond i think you would get snapped by any piece. On a diamond ... well maybe fold equity increeses - who knows :).
