never put LEDs on fabrik. it's a fire hazard and insurance will step out if anything happens. Buy some aluminum rails, they are not that expensive anymore. you don't want to be responsible for other people burning down their houses pls!
@MikeBelloMusic Жыл бұрын
This is a very good point! I never really thought about the possibility of the LED's malfunctioning or catching fire. Thanks for the tip - Aluminium rails sounds like a much better way to build the panels
@drbass96773 ай бұрын
you can put led strips on fabric, they don't get anywhere near hot enough to start a fire.
@AlexisGitarre3 ай бұрын
@@drbass9677 oh boy, I've seen malfunctioned leds a lot of times and trust me they burn. Absolutely no problem on aluminum rails but on fabric... Normally every Led comes with a manual and it clearly states on which surface they are allowed to be mounted and in all cases I had so far, it says non-FLAMEABLE surface. Which for example is aluminum.

Having a budget really makes you focus on the important elements, and from the video, you have prioritised the essentials of room acoustics and mood lightning and some desk rearrangement and tidy up. These simple things help to create an environment which makes you want to spend time in the studio. It all ended up looking great for your budget. In the end it is about the music, and this space hopefully will allow you get that done. Enjoy

Congrats this looks amazing really beautiful, but just one question how do you handle temperature in the room when all the equipment is turned on?
@MikeBelloMusic2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And good question, the temperature is fine for most of the year because it gets a bit cold where I live. Although, for about 3 months during summer it does get really hot. When it gets too hot, I take a short break, open the door and turn on the air-conditioning. It's good to take regular breaks when producing anyway to 'reset' your ears, so I just do it during these breaks

Dear Mike, I am quite surprised with the result. It looks amazing and you should be proud that you did every single part of it by yourself. You motivated me to do the same, even though I may not be able to create the frames and all other stuff by myself. I am also living in rent and I was searching to see if acoustic treatment is possible without any drills. Thanks for showing that. And maybe a question, do you think it would work if I get the absorbers and use multiple command strips? There are commant strips which can carry up to 7kg and I believe I wouldn't have any problem if I use 4 of them. That is my idea to make it and hopefully I'll start in couple months, but I would like to get your thoughts on that since you made it very very good! Thanks
@MikeBelloMusic2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ali, Glad you liked the video! I actually used multiple command hooks on all of my panels, so yes it does work. My panels have 2 hooks per panel. The thing you need to be careful of if using 4 hooks is to make sure that they are perfectly aligned with whatever part of the panel they are hanging onto, so that they are all carrying the load evenly. If you are just using the command velcro strips then just try to space them as evenly as possible. Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

Hey mate, nice work.Were you happy with the finished result soundwise and any idea what sort of noisefloor this is producing? Considering a similar build so Would be interested to hear some before and after samples if you have any. Thanks
@MikeBelloMusic2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Aaron! I haven't done any after tests yet, although I do have some room tests that i did before installing the acoustic treatment so I'll do some after tests sometime soon and put up a video with the graphs and results. The biggest difference I've heard so far is a dramatic reduction in slap echo and room resonances. I also use Audeze LCD-X headphones which are incredibly flat and this acoustic treatment has got my speakers sound much closer to the flatness of the headphones. So by my ear, the difference has been huge and I've noticed already that my mixes are translating better to other speaker systems. Sorry I couldn't give more specifics, but I'll do some tests and put up the results in the near future!

@MikeBelloMusic2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! So the faders are not actually on a touchscreen, they are on a standard monitor, although it has an IPS display. IPS displays just have better viewing angles than other displays which allows me to have it angled upwards giving me the feeling of having a traditional mixing console in front of me. For controlling the faders I actually use the CC-121 controller on the left side of the desk. I've made a video that shows how my setup works and how I use the CC-121 controller with the extra monitor here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoKpiIl4adaMoLs

@MikeBelloMusic Жыл бұрын
The panels are located in the first reflection points of the room, with 2 additional panels on the side to reduce reflections. And the depth I choose is the thickest I could make based on the room size and the need to treat frequencies as low as possible because I make bass music

Also, if by chance you get to see this comment, do you know what that material is called for that thin netting that you put into the frame to keep the rocwool from sagging onto the frame?
@MikeBelloMusic Жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! Just rember though that these panels won't do much to isolate the room sound, - these are more designed for reducing the reverb in the room. For room dapening you need slightly different treatment and it would probably need to be on every wall and door in the room
@MikeBelloMusic Жыл бұрын
Yeah that material is just chicken wire. Any variation of mesh will work though - you just need to make sure that the material is thick enough that you can pull it tight without it breaking. That tension is what stops the sagging

@Keemonmusic2 жыл бұрын
I live in an apartment, and when I record my vocals or mix my sound, I try to be mindful of the time I do it. Usually during the day and for mixing I use headphones
@MikeBelloMusic2 жыл бұрын
I've actually never had a noise complaint. The sound proofing in the building I'm in is really good, so it's almost impossible to hear anything out of the neighbouring apartments. If you want to build a studio in an apartment definitely ask about the sound proofing. Most newer buildings are pretty good with sound proofing, and you also need to make sure it has double or triple glazed windows to keep the sound out from the street outside.

If people pool enough money together ; maybe monthly donantion ina city/larger area, you can rent a building and set it all up there and youuu could stay there/security.
