There was a controversy in the USA about drones over private land a while ago. A Man shot one with a shotgun that he said was peeping in on his teenage Daughters while they were laying by the pool. The Judge made the Man pay for the drone,but also admonished the drone Owner about common sense. The Judge said that he'd keep abreast of further rulings so that,in future,he'd know what to do.

He was doing his job by being called out there, and gave sufficient information to say he's happy with what's he's doing, and seemed to know his stuff too. I don't see how you have a problem with this 10 minutes of decent interaction from a couple of officers.

@@w.e.s9711 It would be the same as being decended on by the police asking questions about what you are doing and why you are there if you were sat on a park bench eating a sandwich. A totally legal thing to do. Get burgled however and plod can't even be bothered to attend. Police always say It's my job to ask questions well actually it's their job to uphold the law, pestering people and throwing their weight around with someone carrying out a lawful activity is not a part of their job but it certainly panders to their collective egos.

PJ.... One comment on here hit the nail on the head. DO NOT under any circumstance talk to anyone while flying a drone. I'm a PfCO license pilot been flying for 20+ years. Say, I'm flying a drone and need all my concentration until I land it. Then don't say anything, and see what happens.

Its not best to interrupt someone who is piloting a drone (legally!) - "While there is a certain leeway for a drone pilot to divert their gaze from the drone for a few seconds, getting distracted by engaging with people on the ground frequently or for long periods is discouraged."

You have to wonder about those who love minding other people's business whilst complaining that those they accuse of minding their business are doing the same thing. You have to wonder why the police bothered to show up, as they pretty much understood the situation. I guess they do it purely to appease those who have nothing better to do than to report those they, in their closed-minded way, accuse of being, 'suspicious', for doing something they consider to be out of the ordinary. The drone footage was interesting. It reminded me a bit of what they used to show on Playschool when they went through one of the windows. In this case, showing how containers are moved about onto trains and lorries.

There is actually a law that covers disturbing pilots while in flight . And I'm pretty sure LEOs are not above this law . It is very dangerous to distract a drone pilot while in mud flight . Any damages can be put against the one causing the disturbance. I'm sure it falls under a flight law but I'm not 100 on that

Just One point Pete you should warn every person that interacts with you while operating your drone are breaking the law by interference with a drone operator and operations of said drone, and that they should wait until you have finished your mission and landed drone... As people even police can not interfere with any aircraft pilot in any way whatsoever....

Would be cool to have the 360 camera on the drone wouldn't it. Don't know if that's something that is achievable or not but it would be awesome.

It changes the rules a bit because 360 cameras are heavy and bring the weight of the drone up past 250g. So you will likely require an A2CofC license and optional insurance. Fpv drones can take a 360 camera and may be lighter.

Clearly this officer has done his homework regarding drone flying and adopted a friendly attitude. He still tried to get some details, but failed. The one thing he got badly wrong was not to interfere with a drone pilot whilst engaged in flying. If because of his actions PJ lost control or didn't maintain direct line of sight and that caused the drone to crash, he could be held liable for causing that.

Edit: My mouth was wide open catching flies throughout the part where the 'forklift' type truck put the container on the lorry trailer. That was just tremendous, well worth waiting for. By the way, I like that you said you don't bother police. At the risk of sounding sycophantic, the ''boys and girls' who clear up the body parts after a fatal accident, or break into a lone person's house that neighbours reported a smell of rotting meat coming from for the past six months, or go to a little semi somewhere to tell a family that Dad wont be coming home any more after some idiot pulled out in front of him on his journey home.... those people deserve our support, not being deliberately wound up. I've supported the auditors at first, but then thought better of it for the reasons I've set out above. Anyway, bless your dear heart mate, always love your videos.

I'm in the rural Southwest. We have low flying helicopters every few months with cameras to check all the overhead electricity cables and telegraph poles etc. We also have a lot of activity at times with very low flying jet fighters, and choppers from Devon port and other places. We give them a wave (me and the dog) and often get a wing wiggle acknowledgement. Cameras everywhere, streets, shops, dashcams ... So let's all tidy ourselves up, smile and make the most of it!!
