Whatever her process was, it worked like a charm. Her performance is really something special.

What I love about her performance is that she took the time to appreciate the complete lack of information from behind closed doors. The acknowledgment of the artistic licensing that’s needed in a piece of work like this, and the acknowledgment of the responsibility to keep it true to the evidence and the things we know for a fact. I think that’s what’s really selling this show as a whole.

Amanda Seyfried's performance in 'The Drop Out' is outstanding. It was so good I started getting confused with the real Elizabeth Holmes.

Amanda Seyfried's performance in 'The Drop Out' is PHENOMENAL. It's nuanced and complex, really gives a realistic portrayal of the character. Give her all the awards next year!!

I definitely misjudged Amanda. I adore her and think she’s a wonderful actress but didn’t think she was a good fit. She’s too adorable lol. Boy, was I wrong. She captured the mannerisms and awkwardness perfectly. I love her performance.

Seyfried does a great job, but the mini-series makes Holmes a far more sympathetic figure than she deserves. The sheer ruthlessness of her effort to sustain her fraud resulted (for starters) in the suicide of one of her chief scientists, false positive blood tests that indicated the presence various types of cancer and middle class workers having to pay tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees.

Humm not sure about that. The show is making me despise her even more. And the comments I read on the internet people are also grossed out by her.
@SpongiformSpongee2 жыл бұрын
I felt like this about the first few episodes which made them hard to watch. She was being portrayed as a victim: a young, naive, ambitious person afraid of failure who was groomed by an older man. The last few episodes have portrayed her as the psychopath she is so I'm happy with the show's progression.
@Anthonyprinciotti2 жыл бұрын
@@SpongiformSpongee The scene I had a problem with was the one at the party where she raises the prospect of simply stopping to her mother, who strongly rejects the idea and essentially tells Elizabeth that she must succeed to lead the family back to the elite status it deserves. As far as I know, the narrative laid out in that scene is an invention, and there's little evidence to substantiate the idea that she committed her bad acts due to internal pressure from her family.

I actually had to skip through some of the scenes, they made me so angry. Holmes and her boyfriend both deserve jail time.
@EriiikaGuerra2 жыл бұрын
@@Anthonyprinciotti well but her mom said that because she thought the technology worked. We as the spectators, know that her mom is being mislead and lied to by Holmes, so her being pressured by her mom is invalid here since she knows her technology was shit. Idk I just don’t feel like the show is giving off any good in her tbh. Amanda Seyfried though, gives interviews almost admiring Holmes and that makes me so uncomfortable. I love Amanda but she’s being whack.

I don't care what other say. I like Amanda Seyfried and I watched only the trailer but because of the amount of screentime I would say it's the role of her life. Her portraying Lucifer before the fall and step by step glitching out of God's firm is spectacular visualisation of war in heaven. I don't know why people in my environment are afraid of her, but I am not the guy who burns "witches" on stake. They live in their M.Night Shyanmalan village of dark ages but I am progressive I like it when japanese people are armed with a smartphone. No rubbish on the street everybody behave shy. I only watched "Mean Girls", "Chloe" and the movie in which the old lady wanted an epic description in gazette after life. It's so digging in deep into the storyline and space and head of this fictional Elisabeth Holmes based on true one, it screams addiction binge watch it over and over again. But it's dangerous to give such frauds a platform. It encourages a few to imitate this kind of crime. Like the russiam lady who cheated the high society and now you can watch her movie on netflix. Or the girl who send sms to boyfriend making suicide and he did! Weird. But I am lucky that Seyfried had fun to portray EH in this cultic way. Seems addictive and to die for. Release date in my country is on 20th April. I have to be patient.

I like the series and it's a good performance but it is quite sympathetic to Holmes. Yes people are complex and maybe at first she wanted to help people. However, she knowingly scammed people and harmed patients with a product she knew couldn't work. Doesnt seem like a person who deserves sympathy.

Yeah the first 2 episodes were very sympathetic towards Holmes, but these later episodes (3&4) definitely show her morphing into a monster.

@@MP-rf8vg That makes the entire show very sympathetic though. Psychopathy isn't acquired, it's something you are born with. The show would have you believe she was just a naive little girl who went with the flow, propped up by the men surrounding her.
