Ronnie wrote this while he was in prison, staring at himself in a mirror. The emotion is definitely real. The original is so upbeat, but the lyrics were always so much deeper. Same with I'm not a vampire and I'm not a vampire revamped. I would highly recommend those also. The revamped is a masterpiece.

Those dancing women are like Muses ( mythical creatures that mesmerise and charm you with their beauty ), the snow reflects the loneliness of his cold heart ( yet still pure like the snow ). The flames at the end are his passion that burns and consumes him from within. The duality of his soul, light/darkness and cold/fire, quite beautiful....

He's said this song was written in prison about his drug addictions, specifically heroin. He's honest about his past where in the past he'd hide it his true emotion and writing in much brighter music.

I guess since I'm in the comments for this song I should say something about this. It goes without saying ... this is f ing beautiful. How amazing is it he used the exact same lyrics. That still fooks with me and ive been listening to this song for over a year. The imagery supporting the theme of addiction is so beautiful as well. The double meaning. Just like the words you can take the visuals to be speaking of love or speaking of addiction. You start to wonder if your heart's gonna burst at any time so literally have thoughts moment to moment that you might die. That's the coffin he speaks of. The cold winter imagery as well as the vampire imagery reflects the cold alienation an addict feels as they start thinking seriously about quitting. The friends they have that are addicts call you a buzz kill and avoid you, and you ran all your non addict friends away long ago. And no one can do it for you. You have to decide to STOP and you have to follow through with that everyday. after the piano solo, the drug isn't working like it used to unless you take a lethal dose. That causes your heart to start going crazy and you really think you are gonna die. So you have to make a choice. To live straight or die high. So you say goodbye to the cruel mistress you thought was your lover and your friend. Listen... "I've lost myself. You tried to reach me, but you just can't help me. So long, goodbye. You tried to save me, it won't work this time 'cause now...." The ending with the fire. He is burning down his past because in order to move on he has to leave all that behind. Burn all those old phone numbers, all the those old hang out spots. That's the part that brought me to tears the first time I saw this vid... burning down (killing) your past life so you can move on. POWERFUL SHIT. Great reaction @Real Reactions Sorry for the rant. Who knows maybe someone who needs to see it will see it. If it can help one person sharing all this is worth it.

Vin you seem to have heard the original version of this from a decade ago so the fact he you the same lyrics and stuff must have been the sme mind fook to you it was to us first time we heard this. If you liked this you need to check out "Im not a vampire" the original so you can listen to "Im not a vampire revamped" you will get the same mind fook. Revamped is the perfect Halloween video. As a recovering addict over 2 n a half yrs clean and counting the lyrics to vampire hit me hard. The lies we tell ourselves "No-one can tell ive been up for three days. Im acting completely normal.". PLEASE you gotta check out REVAMPED AND SOON.

Yess Ronnie is a musical genius. I just love him, how he can take the same song. And it give you a different feeling from the original GENIUS. The girl in this video, was the one who was on the cover of the album the original song was on. Not his girlfriend. His girlfriend is in the I'm not a vampire revamped video.
