would you be able to do a video on ingredients in skincare. i hear these youtubers going on about all these fancy ingredients i have no idea what your on about. also, any ingredients to look out for for certain skin type, or any to avoid x
@ivana1061029 жыл бұрын
She probably knows close to nothing about the ingredients, most 'beauty gurus' know just some basics that are very well known to a lot of people eg. Salicylic acid for blemish prone skin etc.
@jenniferforgie9 жыл бұрын
well she knows more than me. just saying its a video that no one has really done. and by the way 'the basics' are not basic for everyone or non beauty gurus. although i know what salicylic and hylauronic acid is, i know an awful lot of people who don't and ask me to explain, however its difficult to explain when these words are just casually used on youtube and in the skincare environment, and no one actually says what they do. fyi.
@juliaaa11119 жыл бұрын
+Jenny Forgie Read Caroline Hirons' blog. It'll help you a lot more, trust me. You can also read BeautyPedia, they have a section about numerous ingredients, what's their purpose, if they're good or bad, etc.
@juliaaa11119 жыл бұрын
+M ASMR hahaha that's veeery true. BUT I still think it's important to read her. You have to take what she says with a grain of salt, there's no need to follow everything she says, because she can be very radical. But it would be a waste not to read her, cause she has a lot of knowledge.
@VaniillaSummmerr9 жыл бұрын
+Jenny Forgie My friend said it to me like this "what goes on your face is suitable for our stomach". And this is really true, we use so many chemicals in high end and drugstore skincare products. What helped me the most is Botanics facial organic oil. For acne prone skin- add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil. For brightness add vitamin E. Natural is the way to go for skincare and can be adjusted for any type of skin type. I personally do not like most of beauty bloggers' skin recommendations.

I am obsessed with coconut oil (around £3 in super drug): it's the best make up remover ever, plus you can use it on dry ends of your hair to really sort them out. It's honestly my favourite beauty product of all time, and it's so cheap and not full of ingredients you can't pronounce! 😍
@ThePrincessnady19 жыл бұрын
How exactly do you use this in your routine? X
@IMakeupStuff9 жыл бұрын
+Hannah Davis Whether or not you can pronounce an ingredient has nothing to do with its quality... Coconut oil is highly comodogenic and not suitable for many people's skin, unless they want terrible breakouts.
@MsAsb-zx4sr9 жыл бұрын
+I Makeup Stuff Yeah the whole "if you can't pronounce it, means it's not good for you" thing has really affected the the beauty world negatively. And you're right, coconut oil is comedogenic.

I can't recommend the Vitamin E skincare line by Superdrug's own brand. It's absolutely amazing. The Hot Cloth Cleanser is sublime and that's the most expensive product at around the 5.99 mark. The Moisture Boost Facial Serum is beautiful, as is the Leave on Moisture Mask. It's the only line that didn't break me out or irritate my skin. The Body Shop skincare line is gorgeous too, the Chamomile cleansing oil is particularly gorgeous, but a bit more expensive.

I also have a tendency to be oily skinned and the Superdrug Vitamin E tange is superb on my skin, and my sister who has dry skin loves all it at well and moisturises her dry patches. It's PERFECT.

Thought I would add this to the comments as it's coming to that time of year. La Roche-Posay do a Cicaplast intensive moisturiser which is very similar in packaging and in gel consistency to the Efficlar Duo and it is a GODSEND when you have super dry flakey skin. Especially around the nose after a head cold! Another great one is Avene Cleanance K. It's a gel chemical exfoliator that seriously does wonders. I put in on my massive forehead when it looks dry and dull and it just does something to it that sorts it all out. Also, using it on top of active spots seems to calm them a lot (not completely) and I also used it on top of cystic acne scaring along my jaw line and you would never know I had it thanks to this exfoliant. Top banana stuff! However, I don't find the Efficlar Duo or the serozinc spray very effective. I don't feel they do much. Let me know what any of you guys think! X

I just had to let you know that I've bought the Una Brennan Cleansing Oil, Una Brennan Vitamin C Glow Boost Skin Serum and Olay tinted Moisturizer since watching this, because I suffer with very bad skin due to hormonal imbalance, and I'm hoping that with a proper skincare routine, I can start to change that (by eating a lot more healthily I am improving it already), I also plan to get everything else when my loan comes in in January haha. just a quick note, would definitely not recommend the una brennan cleansing oil if you have oily skin. when i was in the uk, i was very quick to snap it up due to anna's recommendations, however left a horrible residue on my (very oily) skin and i ended up having to palm it off to a friend with super dry skin (who loves it.).

This is not anything against Anna but I think there will always be room for new you tubers for the exact reason that many of the current popular beauty youtubers do now use mostly high end products. People will always want to know about new and upcoming drugstore products not just old favourites.

I'm the opposite, I rarely watch drugstore videos as if I'm going to shell out for something more expensive I want to hear lots of reviews first.
@MsAsb-zx4sr9 жыл бұрын
+E Webb For good reason though. A great majority of skincare products from the drugstore are crap. I don't use any drug store products on my face other than cetaphil. Nothing wrong with wanting the best formulations for your skincare.
@Nicole_Dawn9 жыл бұрын
+MsAsb1990 Anna has lovely skin but I've seen many youtubers on her use 'the best' and still not have very great skin. Just goes to show lifestyle is the most important. Eat well, excercise, don't smoke, get plenty of sleep and you won't have to buy £100 face oils.
@MsAsb-zx4sr9 жыл бұрын
6Coley That actually isn't true. Eating clean and exercising doesn't always equate to clear skin (especially when hormones are involved). I eat a clean diet, exercise 4-5x/week, low stress and if I stopped using my 2% salicylic acid and vitamin e serum my skin would be shit. I know this because I've went a week without my products. Not to mention I'm african american, which means I'm prone to Post inflammatory hyperpigmentaiton and need all the help I can get.
@Nicole_Dawn9 жыл бұрын
+MsAsb1990 genetics also play a part. I'm lucky I have pretty perfect skin and my mums 40 with no deep wrinkles. My point is I feel like some people see a price of a product and feel they can rely on it. If you eat rubbish foods, a serum is not a substitute.

Cicalfate is not for dryness! It's a zinc oxide cream which is fantastic for calming rashes and irritation but it can be quite drying, despite it's thick texture.

this is still sooooooo expensive! what happened to good old simple, l'oreal, garnier...
@MsAsb-zx4sr9 жыл бұрын
+Latesha Brown Maybe because she doesn't find them effective, don't like the ingredients, or because they just don't work? I've tried all those products throughout the years and wouldn't put anything drugstore on my face, except cetaphil.
@lateshab78869 жыл бұрын
+MsAsb1990 fair enough, I didn't mean it in s bad way it's just I am a student and couldn't afford to spend 10 or 15 pounds on one product
@MsAsb-zx4sr9 жыл бұрын
Latesha Brown I completely understand and I was the same when I was a student. It's just idk how people expect her to recommend products that she hasn't used or doesn't use. I used to use cerave, cetaphil and stride salicylic acid on my skin when I was a student. Maybe I can help you make an affordable routine? What's your skin type and what problems do you have with your skin?
@juliaaa11119 жыл бұрын
+MsAsb1990 You are right, but I think the reason why people are complaning is that the title is a little deceiving. These are hardly drugstore prices. It can be drugstore to Anna, cause she generally uses ridiculously expensive stuff, but not for many people.
@lateshab78869 жыл бұрын
+Ju M. Yah exactly! I use boots all the time and I am unfamiliar with all of these brands! I really like Anna so I was just a bit disappointed at this video and I thought it was finally going to have products in it that I can afford! I think her introduction about being a student and all that was a bit hypocritical as well, because she says that she understands about being on a budget but these products don't reflect that! Also, I completely understand that she wants to include products that she likes and fair enough that they are mostly expensive but I just don't get it sometimes. I'm 22 and can't afford most of the things she talks about and I know most of her subscribers are younger than me so I just feel like when she makes a video that is 'budget' or 'drugstore' it should cater to younger viewers. Maybe everyone will disagree but I don't know any students that go to Space N K...
