Really he’s very smart! A boxer must watch his opponents every move so they know when their opponent is going to make the next punch and when they have a shot open. So by this man dancing around, he is keeping the opponent constantly looking back-and-forth back-and-forth really wearing them out. It’s a genius move.
@gourdguru
@gourdguru Ай бұрын
this man is a legend. he basically created his own improvised and simplified version of drunken fist kung fu. you have no idea how impressive that is. drunken styles are some of the more difficult and technical styles, and kung fu schools usually don't teach it until you have a real solid grasp on the fundamentals, and even then, students usually take a good bit to properly understand the physics and philosophies behind it. and this man did it essentially as a joke to clown on his opponent. that's just natural talent right there. unorthodox, unconventional, and unbothered, Augustus' style was proof to the old saying "If it looks stupid, but it works, it ain't stupid."

"Maromero paez" started this.. look him up
@gourdguru
@gourdguru Ай бұрын
@@pinchevatolocoloco i suppose i can see it. maromero's rhythm is too predictable though, augustus is more irregular. also augustus shifts himself off balance more and strikes from there, while Maromero dances and showboats but keeps his center of gravity more rooted/centered, stepping out to evade but returning before firing his response. he favors striking more from the centerline. Paez fires punches like a tommygun fires bullets, though. i think Paez is more technically proficient as a boxer and maybe the heavier hitter, but augustus had much better body/footwork.

I love this guy. The Drunken Master. He’s an inspiration to me. He’s too good. Too bad he got robbed of a lot of fights because both judges and commentators would say that his style is chauvinistic, they didn’t understand that it wasn’t him showing off, it was his rhythm.
