Many thanks Ronnie---I heard this old song many years ago---and it's thanks to KZbin that they have preserved this wonderful song---it represents so much emotion about the two world wars ande also Ronnie Drew as an artist. In my opinion he was the best of the Dubliner

A fantastic performance by Ronnie. In my opinion, the two best narrative singers I ever heard, bar none, were him and Johnny Cash.

Aaaaaah, Ronnie Drew. I imagine he and Luke Kelly up to some 'shenannighans' together again. Bless them both. Both wonderful, both unique, both irreplaceable.

Didn't know this song till the other night, (shame on me) when I heard the "Limerickmen band" sing it. They paid homage to Ronnie, and did a wonderful version too. As you can see, I’m listening to it since.

Sad to see the comments here so out of control. Americans should have always been with the Irish in spirit. No idea what's come over us.

OT but I always find it fascinating that in any conflict between these two political/ideological groups, it's always the righties who are arrogant, insulting, and hateful. In my lefty heart I just always wonder why? Why, mr. patthecatman??? Why are you all so meanspirited? Susan
