Fabulous Liam - Truly fabulous .. None ever thought we would be able to experience this delight when they started to scrap them in the 1960's! We only have the two now (I know Birmingham has one in their museum - But that was given then by BR!) It was a young lad that wrote to Billy Butlin - the Holiday Camp King and he said why can't we save one of the Coronations and put it on display in the holiday camps and have drivers talk to the children about their exploits driving them!! and Butlin liked the idea! The rest is history - two were saved! I only ever saw five in BR days .. a visit to Camden in 1962 and a visit to Crewe Works in the same year! ... But I was so amazed by then .. We used to call them Semis! Because some of them were semi-streamlined and had a sloping front at the smokebox after the removal of the stream lining! That 'Duchess of Hamilton' has had replaced - thanks again Liam and your Father .. TOP team!!

Absolutely magnificent! This video is a total compliment to what I believe remains the most magnificent and impressive steam locomotive design ever achieved in Great Britain. There are many worthy competitors gracing the railways of this nation and they all have their technical and asthetic merits but Sir William "cracked it" with this champion of the steel highways. Sixty years ago I was one of many kids that hung around the station in Perth where the highlight of the night was seeing the Euston Sleeper being prepared for departure. It evoked a certain atmosphere then and still does whether the event is on screen here or live at the Citadel or any other location where it demonstrates its enduring prowess. Thank you for stirring my memories and happiness.

The logistics of being in the right place at the right time, with the best unobstructed view, for so many brilliant movements just staggers me. That is dedication to your art!

This is what I have come to expect from the contributors to Marsh Videos. For me and I am sure an abundance of others, both in their youth and later years, their name is synononous with top quality recording, presentation and rewarding viewing.

My favorite class when I was a kid. Best day ever was 13 at Crewe, plus a couple of princesses. Probably about 1957, when I was ten. Excellent video!

Nice wee bit of Rock and Roll coming out of Tyseley! Lovely to see her in the Green with which I was familiar

@Robert Watt , I was extremely happy to see her in BR green too , it’s such a pity that the Princess Elizabeth owners won’t put their loco in green for just a couple of years .

Magnificent filming of a magnificent locomotive - a superb compilation, thanks Liam and Phil. If I really had to choose a favourite, it would be the Bedfordshire shot at 23:40. Some may say they would not expect a lesser standard from you... fair comment but never let it be taken for granted! Kind regards, Bob

Great video my favorite was the opening shot that was the best ! I love steam dug into a hill going slow and losing her feet before getting on with it. Keeps regulator greedy drivers on their toes😂😏😏

Steam-tastic. It's a great shame Duchess of Hamilton isn't allowed to do the same any more. The Main Line Network isn't the same without her.
