Hey man, maybe you could help answer a few questions for me since you have a similar setup to this. Is the water that’s already present in the tank enough for the red eyes to drink from? Or do you still keep a water bowl for them? Any dangers in keeping small fish in the water base? Would they make the water unsafe for the red eyes to drink? And lastly, would a water feature like a waterfall bother the frogs at all? I appreciate your time!

Thankyou for this video it’s very very informative and is going to help me as well with my tree frog breeding project. You have one of the best videos, I’ve watched many rain chamber videos, your the only one I’ve seen to successful breed them without a rain chamber. I have this same exact padularium cage but it’s not that size. It’s 12x12x18, maybe I need this larger size, I also wasn’t able to figure out how to get the water bottom and set up like this so I left it as a land gratuities with separate tanks for tadpoles and another for a rain chamber.

Hi Josh! I’ve purchased a good amount of substrates and plants from you in the past. I am working on a new Red Eye enclosure similar to this one with a fully water base. A couple questions for you… do you still keep a water bowl in yours? Or is the water in the tank enough for them? Any danger of them falling into the water? If I had some tetras living in the water below, would it make the water unsafe for the frogs in any way? And lastly, if I had a running water feature of a waterfall in the tank, would it bother the frogs at all? I appreciate your help and will continue to support your business whenever I can!
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter2 жыл бұрын
Hey there Zack! Love the idea you have! Answering in order- yes always provide either a water bowl or an area where fresh water can be drank safely by the animal inside(seeds and nut pods, biodegradeables etc as well). Spraying down the enclosure daily will also be a form of fresh water that the animals can drink off the plants. If there is a large body of water there will unfortunately always be the risk, i would just make sure there are large decor pieces so they can climb onto them and get out. Most frogs can do a minor amount of swimming to get out of water if needed. I have not done a paludarium with fish so i cannot give you a solid recomendation for the tetras, apologies. the waterfall would need great care and maintenance to keep from having issues but it think if the enclosure were a large enough space that they had ample room to be away from it, it would be just fine. Please reach out to customercare@thebiodude.com and the team can get you setup with the supplies needed for a kit! Hope this helps!! The Dude Abides! - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGqQaImMjdufhc0

The barometric pressure from thunderstorms affect the frogs and help with breeding, which is why he mentioned the thunderstorm. You can also lower temps, cut back on feeding, and then put the frogs into a water chamber to help with success.

My wife is a veterinarian and my curator of fauna is an experienced exotic veterinary technician, so we deworm them in house. I would recommend trying to find an experienced herp vet in your area. Arav.org is a great resource to find one, as most vets are not experienced in proper amphibian medicine, dosages, etc.
