150 miles north of London, in the stately Chatsworth House of Derbyshire, lies one of the most significant collections of art and objects in Europe. The famed Devonshire collection has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish Family and encompasses the rarest fine art, design, and jewelry from the past five centuries. This summer, Sotheby's is honored to present Treasures from Chatsworth - a unique public exhibition of works from this incredible collection. In this video, the 12th Duke of Devonshire provides a preview of the extraordinary objects coming to Sotheby’s New York. From Rembrandt van Rijn to Lucian Freud, forty-five masterworks from the Devonshire Collection will be exhibited in a multi-floor installation designed by creative director David Korrins, whose work includes the set designs for the Broadway musical phenomena Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen. Free of charge and open to the public, Treasures from Chatsworth will be on view from 29 June through 18 September 2019 in Sotheby’s newly expanded and reimagined New York galleries, located at 1334 York Avenue. To reserve tickets to this extraordinary exhibition, click here: www.sothebys.com/en/event/cha...

@@megenberg8 Like many people, I know the sculpture from the 2005 movie Pride and Prejudice. I have stopped the video numerous times to study it and try to understand how something in stone can appear transparent. I thought at one time I had figured out how the sculptor achieved the effect. Now, seeing it again, I am back to knowing I haven’t a clue! It is without a doubt my favorite sculpture. I am going to research the information you have given. Thank you for making it possible for me to learn more about it!

You get to a point with these estates, that you don't own them...they own you. Which is the case with Chatsworth. The Duke and Duchess spent their lives doing what needs to be done just to keep the lights on as a matter of heritage. It's the reason why so many become historical charities and open their homes to the public. I've seen the Duke in other talks and he always seems very humbled by it and a good-natured chap.

How perfect that this exhibition is going back to the past and bringing it into the future for integration because this is the time and this is exactly what is inspiring me in all of my creative endeavors Most of which is about the colors of yesteryear I love everything about the eras gone by The simplicity the complexity the difficulty & the beauty I don’t think humanity has ever been at its best and even then at its worst we have a lot to aspire to And the clues come from our forefathers long gone, many moons ago There is nothing more exquisite then master craftsmanship Even if that piece or article has been created by a person who is an amateur we are also all masters when we are at our best and that is when we are Expressing our Love affair with life

Chatsworth House was where C.A. MacRae drew her inspiration for Chandringham. Check out the book, Gemini Complex, The Cabal After the final demise of the Cathars and Knights Templars six hundred and fifty years later, a murder and a series of suspicious deaths of the clergy become a link to an innocent farm girl starting her first day as a maid in the stately home called Chandringham, England in 1918. She is thrust into the upper echelons of society and told to immerse herself in the life of the aristocracy, as Lady Mary Tavistock. She struggles with erasing her existence as Flo and all she has ever known. Her questions are abundant, but nobody seems to be answering them, and worst of all, Mary finds her life is in danger. An unexpected suitor comes to her rescue as she tries to make sense of who she is and her purpose in life. Mary is sent to Switzerland for answers and to hone her innate abilities with others like her. However, there she finds a shocking world she never knew existed. The book will be released at the end of September 2021, by Pegasus.

2010 Attic sale : kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWXZomqYaLqLnLc. Many things have been sold quietly over the years. In the 1960’s when death duties were insane there was a death that came earlier than expected and a lot of attic things were sold. There was another attic sale recently. It’s just that the Cavendish’s have so much that the main showstoppers are not sold. Indeed some families sold everything and liquidated and downsized moved abroad etc.

Manchester-born writer, CA MacRae, met with Carolyn Reynolds, Executive Producer of Coronation Street over a script she wrote in 2004. Inspired by Carolyn's positive comments C.A. MacRae began research years later when life enabled her. So if you love Downton Abbey and conspiracy theories, then you will love C.A. MacRae's Gemini Complex, The Cabal: After the final demise of the Cathars at Chateau Mount Montségur in the south of France in 1244, a heroic rescue by a Knights Templar took place. Six hundred and fifty-three years later a murder and spate of suspicious deaths of the clergy become linked in the south of France. Flo’s first day (10th November 1918) at Chandringham doesn’t work out quite how she imagined. A bright but humble farm girl finds herself thrust into the upper echelons of society. Rather than being trained in the everyday tasks of a maid, she’s told she needs to leave her old life behind and immerse herself in the life of the aristocracy, as Lady Mary Tavistock. Her world is turned upside down, Flo realises she’s not the person she’s always thought she was, and to make matters worse she finds out her life is endangered. In order to make sense of who she really is and what her purpose in life is, she’s sent to Switzerland to meet others of her kind. The Gemini Complex, The Cabal is the first book of a trilogy. It's going to be released later this year.

People watching this can go wow here and there with all the collections. The truth is all these were either stolen from where they come from or acquired from questionable means with money ill-gotten from some dubious dealings. Samuel Meisner I was considering not replying, but then again, a point you raised about it being shared by his lordship and the public. That’s great. He has no moral standing as to its ownership except somebody somewhere stood there and said, “here you go, you can have this large area of countryside, it’s not mine btw but that won’t matter” it was never anyone’s to give away. So, it’s perfectly correct to open the doors and allow the people who it was most probably stolen from , in and enjoy it.. Still I do appreciate that you haven’t personally attacked me.
