I can't remember just how many Chargers were destroyed during the run of that show. Great jumps, but the cars were pretty much totaled after every one. For fans of the Charger, it's both cool and sad, because so many of these incredible classic cars were destroyed. But it is fun to see so many of the jumps back to back!!!

the dukes of hazzard inspired me to live out my own general lee fantasy. got a old beat up 97' jeep grand cherokee. put a new coach black paint job, tuned up the 318 Magnum V8, slap on new suspension components and a new exhaust and lone behold Black Magic gave birth. the friendly neighborhood desert runner and saver in the desert. never failed to save a stuck vehicle and never failed on me. hell I even got air with it three feet off the ground and it was golden. dukes of hazzard inspiration :)

The jumps were spectacular, the landings were horrific. However, no car in the world looked better launching through the air like the incredible General Lee. I'm just glad I was a kid during the Dukes of Hazzard days. thanks to the Stuntmen, mechanics and John and Tom for making The General the greatest car in television history.

I watched the show every Friday at 8pm on channel 13.. Now, at the end closing theme in the middle of the song they would cut in and talk about J.R on Dallas.. Then, I would hear the end of the song. It was my mission to hear that song entirely, in uninterrupted.. Years went by, and I never heard the song in its entirety... Finally, after the episode where they jump AT the helicopter to scare it, finally, the end song was played in it's entirety, but they added the General Lee's taking off in dirt sound. I recorded it, and dwelled on it for years.. I remember everything on that show.. Vance and coy sucked!!!! Long live uncle Jessie, and boss Hogg... Special wave to sheriff Little.. A great cop!!!

Actually, the characters came directly from an old movie called "Moon Runners." The copyright expired on it so it has since been uploaded in its entirety on KZbin. The stunts and over-the-top situations seem to have been more inspired by other movies such as Smokey and the Bandit

Dem no good Duke Boys Luke and Bo Duke :-) I read that when making the series they estimated that 309 dodge chargers were used and they nailed at least 1-2 of those cars during the making of each episode. Must have been great times driving around in a charger or a black and gold pontiac Trans AM of the smokey & the bandit fame back in the late 70's/early 80's.

The first song is "Good Ole Boys," (The theme from the TV show)...next, at about 0:58, is "Carrying On Like We Did Before," the theme from the first reunion movie. (With Mama Max). Right after that is "The General Lee," by Johnny Cash, that was done for a "Dukes of Hazzard " soundtrack tape (cassette, re-released on CD). Hope that helps. :)

Wow! Look at the jump at 0:28 to 0:34, over the barn! Yeehaw!! 1:58 and 5:13 are pretty cool jumps. Of course, when you are a kid, you naturally wonder how the ramps miraculously appear at the driver's command(!) lol But look at 0:38, 1:42, 4:11 and 6:02, those landings must have destroyed the car, right? At 5:10, the driver is wearing a crash helmet. I love the original Dukes of Hazzard, but makes me laugh how the Duke boys get away from the cops by awesome jumps only to be arrested when they get home! Good fun though.

Thar's a lot-o-mangled Mopar that didn't get shown (the landings), but what was here was very cool. I'm still looking for someone to upload the miniature RC General Lee from the last couple of seasons. You could tell the miniatures from the real stunt cars cause the camera didn't pan across the screen.

@jamiedriscoll287210 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the "Passenger" it was a dummy.
@flcl6410 жыл бұрын
Are you sure? It looks like someone's reacting to the landing there. He pulls his arm in right after like someone in pain would.
@jamiedriscoll287210 жыл бұрын
The reason why I am thinking this, is there's a lot of rag-doll flopping when the car landed and the curly hair looked like a bad wig someone just stuck on a dummy. I also figured that for insurance purposes, they'd want to use a dummy whenever possible to avoid unecessary broken bones. That's just my thoughts. Plus, you have to imagine a passenger that was an actual person would be in a 3-point harness with their arms in the car, like professionally preparing for the landing and being rigidly strapped in....it really does look like a strapped-in dummy with the bad hair with loose-in-the-seat arm flopping. I don't think they'd risk more injuries to needless stunt people if they could avoid it. Either way, I'm a fan too and loved watching when I was a kid! Take care!

Must've been a really powerful engine and some really tough suspension to make some of those jumps. Even with that well built car, it still doesn't take the jumps too smoothly either. xD
@kadajawi65675 жыл бұрын
They destroyed 2 Chargers per episode... none survived the jump. Which is funny, because while TDOH destroyed 300 cars (!!!), Knight Rider made do with 20. And they all survived, until they had to be destroyed by contract.

I mean totalled as in 'wrecked beyond reasonable repair'. Basically, whenever they sent another hulk to the boneyard, they should have incremented the number by 1, but without any explanation as to why. Considering they spray painted a bale of straw green and called it 'Maruhjuwanna', this sort of goofiness wouldn't be too outlandish for the show.
