What's the stupidest thing you can say after getting drafted? Well, whatever it is, LeShon Johnson might have the distinction of saying it. At the 1994 NFL Draft, in the third round, the Green Bay Packers chose Northern Illinois running back LeShon Johnson, who then proceeded to call every other running back in the league trash and not very good, which was ironic when you look at what Johnson wound up doing in the NFL, which was... well, not a lot. This is a breakdown of his draft comment and what might just be the dumbest player the Packers ever drafted, if that comment was anything to go off of

@@williamhermann6635yeah go look at all the media attention he was getting, every team thought he was gonna be a game changer at the offensive line position. Almost every team would have drafted him. It's not dumb because with the information on hand, anyone would have wanted him on their team

@@chrisp679 and? If a guy is going to be shit on and his performances compared to people watching, at least mention he did a little more than that. Plus at the time he was clearly not a NFL back. As much “hype” around him, plenty thought he wouldn’t be a good nfl back. So at least he lived up to some (low) expectations
@chrisp679
@chrisp679 Жыл бұрын
@@ha44y when a guy rushes for almost 2000 yards and finishes sixth in the Heisman voting on a crappy team, the expectations aren’t “low”. Especially considering he was expected to go as high as he did. You bring up the 200 yard plus game but don’t add the context that it consisted of one third of his entire rushing total that season. Yes, he beat cancer, great, but he was also a back that couldn’t crack four yards a carry for much of his career. He talked a lotta shit but didn’t back it up.

Another GB running back story you should tell: A year later, Packer scout John Dorsey (yes, that John Dorsey) wanted the team to take Terrell Davis in Round 5 (pick 170). However, they had concerns about his injury history, and took RB Travis Jervey instead. Davis fell to pick 196 and the Broncos, and the rest is history.

Then again, he was a legitimate beast at NIU; when Louisiana-Lafayette was still Southwestern Louisiana, they were in the Big West for 3 years before going to the Sun Belt, and U(S)L played NIU in 1992. LJ ate the Cajuns up for 150+ yards in the Huskies' victory.
