My friend and I have a saying when playing ARKHAM HORROR: If we won, we must've done something wrong.

Haha. Yes. We used to say the same thing. :)

New England pronunciation is always a strange time. Much like how Innsmouth is pronounced "INNS-muth." I was kind of shocked when The Sunken City videogame pronounced it "inns-MOUTH."

Back in the day we always found it was terribly fiddly to get up to Dunwich and do anything meaningful there. On more than one occasion we'd finally get up to Dunwich only to immediately draw the encounter where the Soggy Bottom Boys or whatever just kick you right back to Arkham. Just agreeing with a sentiment expressed early on in the video!!

I really like the appendix chapter. Such a thorough overview of Lovecraftian literature Are you Tolkien nerd as well? War of the Ring, maybe?

If you like the Jim Culver character. Have you read The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle? Which is a reinterpretation of Lovecraft's The Horror at Red Hook.

Oh hell yeah! It’s brilliant.

I need to play more Arkham Horror again. The next best thing is listening to you telling about your experiences!

The W is silent, apperently :) A great video and series. The injury and madness cards was a new mechanic to avoid having your character killed and losing all your progress, very thematic because getting those cards are very common in this game. Thinking about the gatebursts I think your right..I might drop them in future. They were introduced because players realised if you sealed high frequency locations you could hack the game.

In the UK they don't pronounce the W, but they do in New England.

@WebMonkey741 someone on reddit sayeth the Rhode Islanders say dun-ich, so I don't know what to believe. It's not the biggest deal in the world. We all know Innsmouth is where it's at anyway.

This is what a real expansion looks like. They don’t make them like this anymore. Agreed about the boards however sometimes I’m in the mood for a sprawling epic fiddly game and it definitely delivers!

This truly was the golden age of the expansion.

Never been sure myself. We have IpsWich where the W is pronounced, but Norwich where it isnt!

Seems like no one can agree! :)

The W is a very serious letter that should always be pronounced. Just ask words like Wrath, Whole, and Answer

I have Eldritch Horror. Is Arkham Horror a better gaming system? I understand they are different, but what are the main differences? Worthy of a video on this topic?

Duh-ich is the British pronunciation, and the American is supposed to be similar.

Elision from across the ages, still, an amazing expansion.

Pronunciation and spelling. I go by spelling. Its their word, and language, it should be properly written to be properly pronounced.
@woges509316 сағат бұрын
@jeremiahbond2810 who's word? It's from Old English and it's now pronounced without the w. That's the correct way not however you think it is. Not that it really matters to modern day scholars on yt.
@woges509316 сағат бұрын
Whose.
