I own this rare press. Super rare. This record was kinda the last echo of def jam like run dmc and beasties where a new talent blatantly reappropriated current material in an emerging genre that was unrecognized, but legit. The fact they had to change to chemical bros for the US market, goes down in history of that last groundbreaking sample culture artists to cement their names in music.

@@rjonzun5828 the OG Dust Bros from Cali were producing and on major labels since 80s. The "Dust Bros" from UK were DJs on the scene around 93 that produced this record, and right after they came stateside, (saw them @ the Edge Orlando, FL in 94) - they changed their name to the Chemical Bros because of copyright on the name from the OG Dust Bros in Cali (who worked with many hip hop artists, most famously the Beasties). That said, the Chemical Bros, still to me are some of the most influential electronic dance music producers of our era. They made big beat the biggest for a solid decade.

@MSISOAD It depends. The "Dust Brothers" and the "Chemical Brothers" are the same band. The album 'Exit Planet Dust' was inspired by the change in name. The confusion comes in because there was were two music producers that went by the same name. I'm not entirely sure but I think there were some threats of lawsuits if the band didn't change their name as their popularity grew.

Saw them perform this at Club UK, south London in 94. They were stuck in a passage way between rooms, a place for new artists, but I will never forget to reaction to this tune, it blew the place apart, at the time had no idea who they were. I have to call out Josh Wink 'higher state' - it always gets the nod as a classic, this is far superior in my opinion, and he blatantly stole the whole vibe from this track. Chemical beats re-release please :)

i read in a galaxy far far away that the reason CB's changed their name was due to copyright infringement, that they went on tour in the usa where there was already an rock band using the same name "the dust brothers" and so came the name change. but maybe it is a bit of both huh.
