It is only partially correct. Around 12 years of age, when the student passes Group 8, based on the result and recommendation of teacher, the future course is decided, example ki student arts, commerce ya science padega, ya koi aur technical course karega. Also ye hamesha ke liye fix nahi ho jaata, baad mein switch bhi kar sakte Hain . Hope this clarifies your doubt
