The Dying Butterfly

The butterfly looks to be in very good condition. There isn't the slightest bit of tattering on the wings. So I don't think this butterfly is that old. More than likely, given that it looks like an overcast day, it could have been too cold for it to fly. Their bodies need to be a proper temperature to fly. Butterflies like this do live about 6 weeks. Some can even live for months. Usually by the end of their life their wings are showing their age as they are very tattered and worn. So it doesn't always mean that it is dying.

I know I am responding to an old post, but yes it is possible to keep a butterfly alive.. There are others who have kept a butterfly alive using a sugar water solution, or even Gateraid. There are several videos here on KZbin that I have seen people giving instructions on how to feed a butterfly.
